For everyone who doesn’t understand why Cassie is doing what she’s doing. She basically said it this episode when she compared her life to Rue‘s. In her opinion, her dad gradually leaving the family is the same as losing an extremely beloved parent to cancer. She’s still unbelievably traumatised by his abandonment and never confronted it. All her life, there’s been a hole she felt inside her because of it. And by dating guys who give her attention but don’t love her she’s been trying to fill that hole and feel loved. Maddy said it herself, she loves to be loved. She desperately craves for that feeling she never got from her dad. And the problem with Nate is that he caught her in an extremely vulnerable and emotional place. She’d just broken up with her boyfriend, had an abortion and was in a lot of emotional pain. And her being drunk and alone made things even worse. In that moment, Nate gave her the kind of attention and thrill she didn’t get from anyone else. For Cassie it just felt good but as Nate said, she’s a selfish person, that’s why she’s only thinking of herself and that she feels good and desired. And let’s face it, Nate may be a horrible person but he’s got incredible charisma. That girl falls for the first guy who complements her in any way and I think Nate getting her through that entire bathroom scene with Maddy just created a bond and the sense that he will take care of her. I mean the dependence with which she looked at him when he said she needs to do exactly what he tells her. I knew in that moment it was over for her.
THIS. Like people are acting like Cassie’s thirst for love and affection comes out of nowhere. She got abandoned by her dad AND basically her entire reputation is as the slutty girl who sleeps around and is never looking for something serious. She thinks that everyone has given up on her so of course she’s going to cling to the first guy that says he loves her. She doesn’t see herself as being worthy of love from a man, so she will take it in whatever form it comes.

Rue literally watched her dad dying in front of her for months as a 13/14 year old. That's not the same as him walking out on you, Cassie. The fact that she even thinks they're comparable proves how far gone she is. Also, theory: I think the play will be the first time we see Nate get violent with Cassie. Something in it will set him off/embarrass him and he'll use Cassie as a proxy for Lexie since they're sisters.

The opening of this episode is so, so powerful. It's acted by Zendaya perfectly too. I love the smile on Rue's face when she realizes she is worthy of forgiveness and good things that life throws at her. It's such a beautiful scene.
Looks like most of the craziness has been somewhat resolved. Rue hit her rock bottom, Cal came out the closet and left, Maddy and Nate are definitely finished now or should be after the gun scene, Jules has the disc. The only things left to worry about is Fez and Ash's homeboy snitching to the cops and Laurie wanting her money. It's time for Faye to play her part in helping them out because Fez has been feeding her, giving her weed, picking her up off the floor and tucking her in bed so her loyalty should be with him. The play will be shocking but I'm not too worried about it.
It’s like her mother said, the fact that she makes mistakes or horrible choices isn’t the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that she acts like it’s not a big deal even if she’s hurting the people closest to her. At least when Rue gets to her senses she eventually realizes what she is doing to her loved ones is wrong despite the reasons she does them. But Cassie keeps making excuses for it & doesn’t act sorry about it. This is why so many people don’t like her. Honestly agree completely. I love the range of emotion covered in Jay's Euphoria reactions. Maddy was a victim of domestic violence when Nate choked her. Maddy is dependent on Nate cause he’s rich, to get her out of her poverty lifestyle, she will take the abuse for the benefit of a nice lifestyle. Nate’s domestic violence of Maddy continued with the gun incident, had she never “forgiven” Nate the first time the gun incident would never have happened because she never would have had access to the cd 💿 after the choking. It always gets worse. Am I blaming Maddy, no Nate was wrong in both accounts but Maddy’s choice had a consequence she could never predict because she is a child with low self esteem and poor insight.

When I tell you the amount of pain I felt when Rue called Ali . I sobbed so hard like watching Rue’s special episode with Ali . I just love their relationship , how no matter what she’s done at the end of the day he’s going to be there for her 😭😭
I think that your actions are a reflection of the person you are. Ali told Rue that drugs change who you are as a person. “You’re not a drug addict because you’re a shitty person. You’re a shitty person because you’re a drug addict.” Rue was a bad person last episode, period. That’s not a death sentence and she can redeem herself but it is what it is.

Hi! Love your reaction videos ❤ I'm a therapist and I'd like to offer some clarification on Cassie. I work with many women in her shoes, and I've been in similar shoes myself. Cassie has suffered significant abandonment trauma (dad not in the picture, "stopped calling," as she said last night). I believe her mom is doing the best she can but, between her own alcoholism and trauma, it doesn't seem like a secure attachment has been established between them (or with Lexi for that matter). Cassie is gorgeous and knows her beauty is her power (probably the ONE thing she feels any control over, sometimes obsessively so as we saw in her 4 am beauty rituals). She is generally emotionally dysregulated and, having no secure attachments in her life, seeks substitutions via attention/relationships/anything she perceives as nurturance from men. Namely, Nate. No coincidence that he apparently bullied her growing up. She likely believes that if she can win over a bully, an inner wound will be corrected. She's rationalized her betrayal of Maddie and all the lying by compartmentalizing the truth in her mind (e.g., she was adamant that it was ok because she hooked up with him AFTER he and Maddie had broken up, completely missing the point that betrayal is betrayal no matter how much she wants to believe that the timing made it allowable). Cassie shows signs of active C-PTSD, which leaves her vulnerable to abuse from people like Nate. He feels comfortable using people for his benefit, and Cassie is "willingly" (but from a place of pain) offering herself up to be used by him. Easy, vulnerable prey for the likes of Nate Jacobs. I hope the series shows us how she can come out from under his spell, reclaim her inner power, and take initiative and accountability for her unresolved trauma and healing. Not to mention her role in Maddie's suffering. I have hope for her, and for everyone in this series (except Nate Jacobs, none for you Glen Coco! The gun scene was just too far. I think the showrunners want us to know he's irredeemable. Which has felt a bit weird/forced to me, tbh).

Yea that's just silly. The whole point of watching reaction vids is to see the perspective of that person. Everyone has a different personality and comes from a different background.
Recovery 101: do not compare your trauma to others trauma. Trauma is trauma. How you perceive your trauma and the impact it has on you is what it comes down to. But never downplay the impact a certain experience has on you cause of how bad someone else’s seems and vise versa.
I don't think these Nate scenes are necessarily meant to make him redeemable. He's done way too much to be redeemed. I think the show is trying to show that he has a set of morals (even if his morals are pretty fucked up) and that he's still very much human.

I truly believe that him giving Jules the disc wasn’t about redemption at all. He gave it to her cause he knew that Jules wouldn’t use it against him or just have it exposed at all. Also, he has always had some weird obsession with her, so by giving it to her he can SHOW her that he is a good person.
Here's what I wonder about Cassie & Nate... If memory serves, they got together right after her abortion & break up with McKay. Could that have something to do with her obsession with Nate?? My guess is that she was most likey already in emotion distress from the abortion & breaking up with McKay when Nate rollup up to the store & found her there and that's what lead to her latching onto him so strongly. Nate’s mom probably sees herself in her - a very attractive young girl who causes trouble. But the only trouble is really Nate wanting her to not be herself because his family doesn’t like her and she reacts. I mean he says he loves her but chooses the family he supposedly hates over her? And is embarrassed by her? Obviously Maddy has been shown her good side consistently throughout the series, Nate doesn’t have one. Maddy is actually a good and kind young person. She just doesn’t hide and act quiet and beneath Nate like Cassie. Cassie’s whole role is to make her boyfriend look better. That’s why she drank that goldfish with McKay at that house party. Their two totally different roles and one suits Nate more

Looks like most of the craziness has been somewhat resolved. Rue hit her rock bottom, Cal came out the closet and left, Maddy and Nate are definitely finished now or should be after the gun scene, Jules has the disc. The only things left to worry about is Fez and Ash's homeboy snitching to the cops and Laurie wanting her money. It's time for Faye to play her part in helping them out because Fez has been feeding her, giving her weed, picking her up off the floor and tucking her in bed so her loyalty should be with him. The play will be shocking but I'm not too worried about it.
It’s like her mother said, the fact that she makes mistakes or horrible choices isn’t the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that she acts like it’s not a big deal even if she’s hurting the people closest to her. At least when Rue gets to her senses she eventually realizes what she is doing to her loved ones is wrong despite the reasons she does them. But Cassie keeps making excuses for it & doesn’t act sorry about it. This is why so many people don’t like her. It really pissed me off when it showed us a sneak peak of the next episode and it looks like she proudly holds Nathan hand and walks down the hall with him in school. This woman has no mercy on the people she loves and isn’t sorry. Very disgusting behavior.

This episode made my soul hurt or infuriated me. Maddie is now traumatized for life and the way she curled up into a ball right away sobbing while fuck bag only says the gun wasnt real as if thats going to undo the damage made me want to jump through the screen. And wtf was with Kat lying about a terminal illness to get out of an honest breakup only to gaslight whats-his-face?

Maddy was a victim of domestic violence when Nate choked her. Maddy is dependent on Nate cause he’s rich, to get her out of her poverty lifestyle, she will take the abuse for the benefit of a nice lifestyle. Nate’s domestic violence of Maddy continued with the gun incident, had she never “forgiven” Nate the first time the gun incident would never have happened because she never would have had access to the cd 💿 after the choking. It always gets worse. Am I blaming Maddy, no Nate was wrong in both accounts but Maddy’s choice had a consequence she could never predict because she is a child with low self esteem and poor insight.

I think that your actions are a reflection of the person you are. Ali told Rue that drugs change who you are as a person. “You’re not a drug addict because you’re a shitty person. You’re a shitty person because you’re a drug addict.” Rue was a bad person last episode, period. That’s not a death sentence and she can redeem herself but it is what it is.

I'm a therapist and I'd like to offer some clarification on Cassie. I work with many women in her shoes, and I've been in similar shoes myself. Cassie has suffered significant abandonment trauma (dad not in the picture, "stopped calling," as she said last night). I believe her mom is doing the best she can but, between her own alcoholism and trauma, it doesn't seem like a secure attachment has been established between them (or with Lexi for that matter). Cassie is gorgeous and knows her beauty is her power (probably the ONE thing she feels any control over, sometimes obsessively so as we saw in her 4 am beauty rituals). She is generally emotionally dysregulated and, having no secure attachments in her life, seeks substitutions via attention/relationships/anything she perceives as nurturance from men. Namely, Nate. No coincidence that he apparently bullied her growing up. She likely believes that if she can win over a bully, an inner wound will be corrected. She's rationalized her betrayal of Maddie and all the lying by compartmentalizing the truth in her mind (e.g., she was adamant that it was ok because she hooked up with him AFTER he and Maddie had broken up, completely missing the point that betrayal is betrayal no matter how much she wants to believe that the timing made it allowable). Cassie shows signs of active C-PTSD, which leaves her vulnerable to abuse from people like Nate. He feels comfortable using people for his benefit, and Cassie is "willingly" (but from a place of pain) offering herself up to be used by him. Easy, vulnerable prey for the likes of Nate Jacobs. I hope the series shows us how she can come out from under his spell, reclaim her inner power, and take initiative and accountability for her unresolved trauma and healing. Not to mention her role in Maddie's suffering. I have hope for her, and for everyone in this series (except Nate Jacobs, none for you Glen Coco! The gun scene was just too far. I think the showrunners want us to know he's irredeemable. Which has felt a bit weird/forced to me, tbh).

Nate’s mom probably sees herself in her - a very attractive young girl who causes trouble. But the only trouble is really Nate wanting her to not be herself because his family doesn’t like her and she reacts. I mean he says he loves her but chooses the family he supposedly hates over her? It’s weird how Nate’s Mom projects that to Maddy in how she would “trap” Nate with a baby when it would be Cassie. Ridiculous. Maddy has more redeeming qualities than Nate, Cassie and Marsha combined.

I hate that people tried to invalidate your feelings/frustration towards rue and her decisions!! That's why I'm glad this episode exist with the table scene at the end with ali and the bennets. He basically validated gia's frustration after leslie tried to silence it at first. Love Leslie's "she can use all the support she can get" BUT invalidating peoples frustrations in situations isn't the cracked code either.
