What Nate did to Maddie in this ep makes me hate him forever. There is no redemption after this. There is nothing scarier than a man you love laying on top of you with a gun to his head. Imagine having to survive him blowing his brains in her face. So fucking traumatic. I cried for Maddie so much That man deserves prison for life for all the trauma he inflicted on everyone

Cassie KNEW that nate choked maddy and emotionally abused her; Cassie was the one Maddy confided in and sought comfort from throughout her relationship with nate and then this girl turns around and sleeps with him after they break up???? Nate’s conversation with his mom was so fascinating. Also I just feel so bad for maddy. She’s gonna be traumatized from that for awhile, a part me wonders if Nate even realizes what he did cause he was surprised she was so upset. But I don’t think that “smile you’re on camera” poster was accidental or placed in that shot for no reason. Nate is gonna be in huuuuge trouble

What pisses me off is that Cassie can't even admit nor take accountability but instead decides to compare two different traumas and be bitter and out right annoying. I was throwing hands this episode 😭 but the Fez and Lexi scene made me calm cause it was cute
For everyone who doesn’t understand why Cassie is doing what she’s doing. She basically said it this episode when she compared her life to Rue‘s. In her opinion, her dad gradually leaving the family is the same as losing an extremely beloved parent to cancer. She’s still unbelievably traumatised by his abandonment and never confronted it. All her life, there’s been a hole she felt inside her because of it. And by dating guys who give her attention but don’t love her she’s been trying to fill that hole and feel loved. Maddy said it herself, she loves to be loved. She desperately craves for that feeling she never got from her dad. And the problem with Nate is that he caught her in an extremely vulnerable and emotional place. She’d just broken up with her boyfriend, had an abortion and was in a lot of emotional pain. And her being drunk and alone made things even worse. In that moment, Nate gave her the kind of attention and thrill she didn’t get from anyone else. For Cassie it just felt good but as Nate said, she’s a selfish person, that’s why she’s only thinking of herself and that she feels good and desired. And let’s face it, Nate may be a horrible person but he’s got incredible charisma. That girl falls for the first guy who complements her in any way and I think Nate getting her through that entire bathroom scene with Maddy just created a bond and the sense that he will take care of her. I mean the dependence with which she looked at him when he said she needs to do exactly what he tells her. I knew in that moment it was over for her.
THIS. Like people are acting like Cassie’s thirst for love and affection comes out of nowhere. She got abandoned by her dad AND basically her entire reputation is as the slutty girl who sleeps around and is never looking for something serious. She thinks that everyone has given up on her so of course she’s going to cling to the first guy that says he loves her. She doesn’t see herself as being worthy of love from a man, so she will take it in whatever form it comes.

Rue literally watched her dad dying in front of her for months as a 13/14 year old. That's not the same as him walking out on you, Cassie. The fact that she even thinks they're comparable proves how far gone she is. Also, theory: I think the play will be the first time we see Nate get violent with Cassie. Something in it will set him off/embarrass him and he'll use Cassie as a proxy for Lexie since they're sisters.

The opening of this episode is so, so powerful. It's acted by Zendaya perfectly too. I love the smile on Rue's face when she realizes she is worthy of forgiveness and good things that life throws at her. It's such a beautiful scene.
It’s like her mother said, the fact that she makes mistakes or horrible choices isn’t the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that she acts like it’s not a big deal even if she’s hurting the people closest to her. At least when Rue gets to her senses she eventually realizes what she is doing to her loved ones is wrong despite the reasons she does them. But Cassie keeps making excuses for it & doesn’t act sorry about it. This is why so many people don’t like her. It really pissed me off when it showed us a sneak peak of the next episode and it looks like she proudly holds Nathan hand and walks down the hall with him in school. This woman has no mercy on the people she loves and isn’t sorry. Very disgusting behavior.

Looks like most of the craziness has been somewhat resolved. Rue hit her rock bottom, Cal came out the closet and left, Maddy and Nate are definitely finished now or should be after the gun scene, Jules has the disc. The only things left to worry about is Fez and Ash's homeboy snitching to the cops and Laurie wanting her money. It's time for Faye to play her part in helping them out because Fez has been feeding her, giving her weed, picking her up off the floor and tucking her in bed so her loyalty should be with him. The play will be shocking but I'm not too worried about it.

Especially for episode 5, it was so hard to digest and process and honestly even heal from…to be clear, I found nothing wrong with your reaction last time but I think it’s a testament to you that you wanted to clarify. Honestly agree completely. I love the range of emotion covered in Jay's Euphoria reactions. We go from gleefully hating on Nate to embarrassedly looking down on Cassie to smiling at wholesome Fexi moments. I hope people are able to see that you poking fun at the undeniably crazy shit Rue gets up to or being angry at her does not equal her character being disparaged. I get it teenagers they’re brains aren’t fully developed but she had the capacity to say to Nate “I’m crazier” but the minute her s*** got put on the table she’s manipulating everyone with her emotions and tears. Maddy was a victim of domestic violence when Nate choked her. Maddy is dependent on Nate cause he’s rich, to get her out of her poverty lifestyle, she will take the abuse for the benefit of a nice lifestyle. Nate’s domestic violence of Maddy continued with the gun incident, had she never “forgiven” Nate the first time the gun incident would never have happened because she never would have had access to the cd 💿 after the choking. It always gets worse. Am I blaming Maddy, no Nate was wrong in both accounts but Maddy’s choice had a consequence she could never predict because she is a child with low self esteem and poor insight.

I think that your actions are a reflection of the person you are. Ali told Rue that drugs change who you are as a person. “You’re not a drug addict because you’re a shitty person. You’re a shitty person because you’re a drug addict.” Rue was a bad person last episode, period. That’s not a death sentence and she can redeem herself but it is what it is.

Hi! Love your reaction videos ❤ I'm a therapist and I'd like to offer some clarification on Cassie. I work with many women in her shoes, and I've been in similar shoes myself. Cassie has suffered significant abandonment trauma (dad not in the picture, "stopped calling," as she said last night). I believe her mom is doing the best she can but, between her own alcoholism and trauma, it doesn't seem like a secure attachment has been established between them (or with Lexi for that matter). Cassie is gorgeous and knows her beauty is her power (probably the ONE thing she feels any control over, sometimes obsessively so as we saw in her 4 am beauty rituals). She is generally emotionally dysregulated and, having no secure attachments in her life, seeks substitutions via attention/relationships/anything she perceives as nurturance from men. Namely, Nate. No coincidence that he apparently bullied her growing up. She likely believes that if she can win over a bully, an inner wound will be corrected. She's rationalized her betrayal of Maddie and all the lying by compartmentalizing the truth in her mind (e.g., she was adamant that it was ok because she hooked up with him AFTER he and Maddie had broken up, completely missing the point that betrayal is betrayal no matter how much she wants to believe that the timing made it allowable). Cassie shows signs of active C-PTSD, which leaves her vulnerable to abuse from people like Nate. He feels comfortable using people for his benefit, and Cassie is "willingly" (but from a place of pain) offering herself up to be used by him. Easy, vulnerable prey for the likes of Nate Jacobs. I hope the series shows us how she can come out from under his spell, reclaim her inner power, and take initiative and accountability for her unresolved trauma and healing. Not to mention her role in Maddie's suffering. I have hope for her, and for everyone in this series (except Nate Jacobs, none for you Glen Coco! The gun scene was just too far. I think the showrunners want us to know he's irredeemable. Which has felt a bit weird/forced to me, tbh).

I like how Nate redeemed himself when it comes to Jules storyline when he gave her the disc, but by being even a worse person. Cause Maddy is scarred for life now. That's the thing about Nate. He is capable of good deeds, but even then he can't not hurt more people in the process.
I truly believe that him giving Jules the disc wasn’t about redemption at all. He gave it to her cause he knew that Jules wouldn’t use it against him or just have it exposed at all. Also, he has always had some weird obsession with her, so by giving it to her he can SHOW her that he is a good person.
I feel like you shouldn’t have been bullied about your initial reaction. I’ve been on the side of Rue’s mom and Gia. I’ve been through that and episode 5 was extremely frustrating and triggering to watch. People should not force you to have sympathy or feel how they feel

Recovery 101: do not compare your trauma to others trauma. Trauma is trauma. How you perceive your trauma and the impact it has on you is what it comes down to. But never downplay the impact a certain experience has on you cause of how bad someone else’s seems and vise versa.
I don't think these Nate scenes are necessarily meant to make him redeemable. He's done way too much to be redeemed. I think the show is trying to show that he has a set of morals (even if his morals are pretty fucked up) and that he's still very much human.

Nate’s mom probably sees herself in her - a very attractive young girl who causes trouble. But the only trouble is really Nate wanting her to not be herself because his family doesn’t like her and she reacts. I mean he says he loves her but chooses the family he supposedly hates over her? And is embarrassed by her? Obviously Maddy has been shown her good side consistently throughout the series, Nate doesn’t have one. Maddy is actually a good and kind young person. She just doesn’t hide and act quiet and beneath Nate like Cassie. Cassie’s whole role is to make her boyfriend look better. That’s why she drank that goldfish with McKay at that house party. Their two totally different roles and one suits Nate more
It’s weird how Nate’s Mom projects that to Maddy in how she would “trap” Nate with a baby when it would be Cassie. Ridiculous. Maddy has more redeeming qualities than Nate, Cassie and Marsha combined.

From someone who has dealt with close family with drug addiction issues, it's VERY realistic to be angry and annoyed at their irrational actions. Don't apologize for feeling that way.
You are right to feel how you felt last episode. it surely was alot to take in on first reaction. If you came off as "judgy" off first reaction im pretty sure most felt that way then with time letting the episode process your opinion changed. Here's what I wonder about Cassie & Nate... If memory serves, they got together right after her abortion & break up with McKay. Could that have something to do with her obsession with Nate?? My guess is that she was most likey already in emotion distress from the abortion & breaking up with McKay when Nate rollup up to the store & found her there and that's what lead to her latching onto him so strongly. Like Minka's character said, the right attention atbthe wrong time.
When Cassie and Lexi's mom says she doesn't care and wants to watch Millionaire Matchmaker that's the problem. Yes, Cassie (and Lexi) have trauma over their absentee father and they both express them in different ways (Cassie more so than Lexi because she's older and spent more time with their dad in the house). However, a sense of compassion and empathy should be shown toward Cassie because she is struggling emotionally and feels like she has no support. Her mom hasn't once sat down and tried to have a serious conversation with Cassie about her emotions and GUIDE her. She only kept things real with her when she was annoyed by Cassie's behavior. She only shows Cassie attention to tell her she's pretty, asking about her dating life to live vicariously through her. And she tries to be the "cool mom" which never goes well. There is no guidance or true parenting happening here. Breaks my heart when I see people be really hard on Cassie, she needs a real support system and she has none. To anyone that doesn't get that, know that you are blessed that you never had to experience that kind of pain from being abandoned by your father and only acknowledged for your looks. Trust that Cassie, albeit a character, represents a lot of girls (and women) that do not want to feel this way but do not know how to heal from it and rise above it. I do agree with Jay when she says it would be great to see Cassie and Maddy team up. That would be ideal but it's honestly not a real scenario and will take Maddy coming to terms with her own emotions and the reality of her relationship with Nate before she can even have a mature conversation with Cassie. Hopefully the lesson(s) Maddy's boss (Minka Kelly) shared with her in the pool hit home and helps her to understand Cassie more. If so, she can come to Cassie and have a real convo. Right now, they are both too immature (understandably so considering their age) to team up against someone as self-aware as Nate. For sh*ts and giggles, I would LOVE to see Cassie & Lexi's mom have a girls night with Nate's mom. That would be hilarious.
Thank you, I agree and am disappointed that no one sees it from this perspective. She's a teenage girl who has gone through trauma. I think her trauma is comparable to Rue's, Cassie's dad is literally is drug addict who stole stuff from their house and just disappeared from her life, that's fucked up. Her mom is an alcoholic who seems emotionally immature, not exactly setting the most healthy example for Cassie growing up. I'm getting borderline vibes from Cassie, it just seems like there's mental illness there and not just her "being dramatic", she's in a lot of pain and needs real help. (Edit: spelling)

Cassie and rue have parallel storylines in the sense that both have endured trauma of “losing” a father. Rues dad died, Cassie’s dad left her. Rue isn’t over it, hasn’t properly grieved, and uses drugs to fill the hole/numb the pain. Cassie isn’t over her father leaving her. She wants to fill that hole up with her choice of drug; love. Or at least feeling like she’s wanted and needed. Each girl are burning bridges, and making terrible decisions. Both need therapy. Lots of it (and rehab) Also, let’s not make Maddie out to this “poor girl”. Remember what she did last season. Same as Jules. Tyler is in jail for a crime he did not commit.

I’m speaking in general when everyone is talking so badly about so many characters and they seem to forget that Maddie had done terrible things too (as has mostly every character). Obviously she just went through psychological/emotional abuse right now with that Russian rullette situation. Now last season Maddie was physically abused which is horrible and wrong. I understand that it takes so much for a victim to leave their abuser. I know she went through abuse then too. But I’m speaking on Maddie because everyone shits on other characters and forget that every single person gets to make decisions. Right or wrong. Blackmailed, or out of free will. To put an innocent person In Jail to me is a giant deal. Maddie is wrong for that and Jules too. Even though she was blackmailed. She had the opportunity to do the right thing. So did Maddie. This series shows how every single person is flawed. There isn’t a single one that is going along their life making great choices. It also shows the traumas that may have led people to make such choices a bit “easier” than others. Also, each person experiences trauma in a different way. Cassie AND Lexi both have a dad that abandoned them. Each one deals with trauma in their own ways. Life is all about choices.
Absolutely. But that’s why I like this show. It shows us reality. People aren’t just one way right? People go through trauma; and people also make their own decisions. Cassie’s way of “dealing” with her personal trauma isn’t the same as Lexi. Neither are healthy. I think they all need therapy to grieve, and learn coping mechanisms and lead a healthy life. But Lexi isn’t making such crazy decisions like her sister. I’m a believer if what and when we have control, we make our own decisions. Even under terrible circumstances. Many of them had chances to do the right thing even if they would suffer but they haven’t. Rue with the drug use, Cassie with the sleeping with Nate (and with others too when they won’t fill her emptiness) Maddie, Jules , Nate with what they did to Tyler, (Nate has a shit ton more horrific things) Kat gaslighting Ethan and wanting some fantasy, I mean I can go on. Nobody in this show is doing great.

Ali and the Bennet family was pretty great can't wait for that to get completely blown up by Laurie. Nate and Cassie are praying on each other. Lexi and Fez stuff is the saving grace of this season. I don't think Fez is making it to that play. Kat and Ethan.........moving on. Nate and Maddie scene I'm not even surprised. It was interesting getting some more insight about him from his mom's perspective. It sucks for Maddie and I'd like to feel bad for her...but I can't. Nate and Jules scenes are always extremely fascinating.

FEXI FOR THE WIN
For everyone who doesn’t understand why Cassie is doing what she’s doing. She basically said it this episode when she compared her life to Rue‘s. In her opinion, her dad gradually leaving the family is the same as losing an extremely beloved parent to cancer. She’s still unbelievably traumatised by his abandonment and never confronted it. All her life, there’s been a hole she felt inside her because of it. And by dating guys who give her attention but don’t love her she’s been trying to fill that hole and feel loved. Maddy said it herself, she loves to be loved. She desperately craves for that feeling she never got from her dad. And the problem with Nate is that he caught her in an extremely vulnerable and emotional place. She’d just broken up with her boyfriend, had an abortion and was in a lot of emotional pain. And her being drunk and alone made things even worse. In that moment, Nate gave her the kind of attention and thrill she didn’t get from anyone else. For Cassie it just felt good but as Nate said, she’s a selfish person, that’s why she’s only thinking of herself and that she feels good and desired. And let’s face it, Nate may be a horrible person but he’s got incredible charisma. That girl falls for the first guy who complements her in any way and I think Nate getting her through that entire bathroom scene with Maddy just created a bond and the sense that he will take care of her. I mean the dependence with which she looked at him when he said she needs to do exactly what he tells her. I knew in that moment it was over for her.
THIS. Like people are acting like Cassie’s thirst for love and affection comes out of nowhere. She got abandoned by her dad AND basically her entire reputation is as the slutty girl who sleeps around and is never looking for something serious. She thinks that everyone has given up on her so of course she’s going to cling to the first guy that says he loves her. She doesn’t see herself as being worthy of love from a man, so she will take it in whatever form it comes.

The biggest issue is that she acts like it’s not a big deal even if she’s hurting the people closest to her. At least when Rue gets to her senses she eventually realizes what she is doing to her loved ones is wrong despite the reasons she does them. But Cassie keeps making excuses for it & doesn’t act sorry about it. This is why so many people don’t like her. It really pissed me off when it showed us a sneak peak of the next episode and it looks like she proudly holds Nathan hand and walks down the hall with him in school. This woman has no mercy on the people she loves and isn’t sorry. Very disgusting behavior.

Rue hit her rock bottom, Cal came out the closet and left, Maddy and Nate are definitely finished now or should be after the gun scene, Jules has the disc. The only things left to worry about is Fez and Ash's homeboy snitching to the cops and Laurie wanting her money. It's time for Faye to play her part in helping them out because Fez has been feeding her, giving her weed, picking her up off the floor and tucking her in bed so her loyalty should be with him. The play will be shocking but I'm not too worried about it.

Maddy was a victim of domestic violence when Nate choked her. Maddy is dependent on Nate cause he’s rich, to get her out of her poverty lifestyle, she will take the abuse for the benefit of a nice lifestyle. Nate’s domestic violence of Maddy continued with the gun incident, had she never “forgiven” Nate the first time the gun incident would never have happened because she never would have had access to the cd 💿 after the choking. It always gets worse. Am I blaming Maddy, no Nate was wrong in both accounts but Maddy’s choice had a consequence she could never predict because she is a child with low self esteem and poor insight.

I think that your actions are a reflection of the person you are. Ali told Rue that drugs change who you are as a person. “You’re not a drug addict because you’re a shitty person. I'm a therapist and I'd like to offer some clarification on Cassie. I work with many women in her shoes, and I've been in similar shoes myself. Cassie has suffered significant abandonment trauma (dad not in the picture, "stopped calling," as she said last night). I believe her mom is doing the best she can but, between her own alcoholism and trauma, it doesn't seem like a secure attachment has been established between them (or with Lexi for that matter). Cassie is gorgeous and knows her beauty is her power (probably the ONE thing she feels any control over, sometimes obsessively so as we saw in her 4 am beauty rituals). She is generally emotionally dysregulated and, having no secure attachments in her life, seeks substitutions via attention/relationships/anything she perceives as nurturance from men. Namely, Nate. No coincidence that he apparently bullied her growing up. She likely believes that if she can win over a bully, an inner wound will be corrected. She's rationalized her betrayal of Maddie and all the lying by compartmentalizing the truth in her mind (e.g., she was adamant that it was ok because she hooked up with him AFTER he and Maddie had broken up, completely missing the point that betrayal is betrayal no matter how much she wants to believe that the timing made it allowable). Cassie shows signs of active C-PTSD, which leaves her vulnerable to abuse from people like Nate. He feels comfortable using people for his benefit, and Cassie is "willingly" (but from a place of pain) offering herself up to be used by him. Easy, vulnerable prey for the likes of Nate Jacobs. I hope the series shows us how she can come out from under his spell, reclaim her inner power, and take initiative and accountability for her unresolved trauma and healing. Not to mention her role in Maddie's suffering. I have hope for her, and for everyone in this series (except Nate Jacobs, none for you Glen Coco! The gun scene was just too far. I think the showrunners want us to know he's irredeemable. Which has felt a bit weird/forced to me, tbh).

I like how Nate redeemed himself when it comes to Jules storyline when he gave her the disc, but by being even a worse person. Cause Maddy is scarred for life now. That's the thing about Nate. He is capable of good deeds, but even then he can't not hurt more people in the process.
I truly believe that him giving Jules the disc wasn’t about redemption at all. He gave it to her cause he knew that Jules wouldn’t use it against him or just have it exposed at all. Also, he has always had some weird obsession with her, so by giving it to her he can SHOW her that he is a good person.

Recovery 101: do not compare your trauma to others trauma. Trauma is trauma. How you perceive your trauma and the impact it has on you is what it comes down to. But never downplay the impact a certain experience has on you cause of how bad someone else’s seems and vise versa.
I don't think these Nate scenes are necessarily meant to make him redeemable. He's done way too much to be redeemed. I think the show is trying to show that he has a set of morals (even if his morals are pretty fucked up) and that he's still very much human.

Nate’s mom probably sees herself in her - a very attractive young girl who causes trouble. But the only trouble is really Nate wanting her to not be herself because his family doesn’t like her and she reacts. I mean he says he loves her but chooses the family he supposedly hates over her? And is embarrassed by her? Obviously Maddy has been shown her good side consistently throughout the series, Nate doesn’t have one. Maddy is actually a good and kind young person. She just doesn’t hide and act quiet and beneath Nate like Cassie. Cassie’s whole role is to make her boyfriend look better. That’s why she drank that goldfish with McKay at that house party. Their two totally different roles and one suits Nate more
It’s weird how Nate’s Mom projects that to Maddy in how she would “trap” Nate with a baby when it would be Cassie. Ridiculous. Maddy has more redeeming qualities than Nate, Cassie and Marsha combined.

Could that have something to do with her obsession with Nate??
My guess is that she was most likey already in emotion distress from the abortion & breaking up with McKay when Nate rollup up to the store & found her there and that's what lead to her latching onto him so strongly.

When Cassie and Lexi's mom says she doesn't care and wants to watch Millionaire Matchmaker that's the problem. Yes, Cassie (and Lexi) have trauma over their absentee father and they both express them in different ways (Cassie more so than Lexi because she's older and spent more time with their dad in the house). However, a sense of compassion and empathy should be shown toward Cassie because she is struggling emotionally and feels like she has no support. Her mom hasn't once sat down and tried to have a serious conversation with Cassie about her emotions and GUIDE her. She only kept things real with her when she was annoyed by Cassie's behavior. She only shows Cassie attention to tell her she's pretty, asking about her dating life to live vicariously through her. And she tries to be the "cool mom" which never goes well. There is no guidance or true parenting happening here. Breaks my heart when I see people be really hard on Cassie, she needs a real support system and she has none. To anyone that doesn't get that, know that you are blessed that you never had to experience that kind of pain from being abandoned by your father and only acknowledged for your looks. Trust that Cassie, albeit a character, represents a lot of girls (and women) that do not want to feel this way but do not know how to heal from it and rise above it.
I do agree with Jay when she says it would be great to see Cassie and Maddy team up. That would be ideal but it's honestly not a real scenario and will take Maddy coming to terms with her own emotions and the reality of her relationship with Nate before she can even have a mature conversation with Cassie. Hopefully the lesson(s) Maddy's boss (Minka Kelly) shared with her in the pool hit home and helps her to understand Cassie more. If so, she can come to Cassie and have a real convo. Right now, they are both too immature (understandably so considering their age) to team up against someone as self-aware as Nate.
For sh*ts and giggles, I would LOVE to see Cassie & Lexi's mom have a girls night with Nate's mom. That would be hilarious.

Thank you, I agree and am disappointed that no one sees it from this perspective. She's a teenage girl who has gone through trauma. I think her trauma is comparable to Rue's, Cassie's dad is literally is drug addict who stole stuff from their house and just disappeared from her life, that's fucked up. Her mom is an alcoholic who seems emotionally immature, not exactly setting the most healthy example for Cassie growing up. I'm getting borderline vibes from Cassie, it just seems like there's mental illness there and not just her "being dramatic", she's in a lot of pain and needs real help.

I hate that people tried to invalidate your feelings/frustration towards rue and her decisions!! That's why I'm glad this episode exist with the table scene at the end with ali and the bennets. He basically validated gia's frustration after leslie tried to silence it at first. Love Leslie's "she can use all the support she can get" BUT invalidating peoples frustrations in situations isn't the cracked code either.

Cassie and rue have parallel storylines in the sense that both have endured trauma of “losing” a father. Rues dad died, Cassie’s dad left her. Rue isn’t over it, hasn’t properly grieved, and uses drugs to fill the hole/numb the pain. Cassie isn’t over her father leaving her. She wants to fill that hole up with her choice of drug; love. Or at least feeling like she’s wanted and needed.
Each girl are burning bridges, and making terrible decisions.
Both need therapy. Lots of it (and rehab)
Also, let’s not make Maddie out to this “poor girl”. Remember what she did last season. Same as Jules. Tyler is in jail for a crime he did not commit.

Oh no, I’m not commenting on what just took place. What Nate just did to her.
I’m speaking in general when everyone is talking so badly about so many characters and they seem to forget that Maddie had done terrible things too (as has mostly every character).
Obviously she just went through psychological/emotional abuse right now with that Russian rullette situation.
Now last season Maddie was physically abused which is horrible and wrong. I understand that it takes so much for a victim to leave their abuser. I know she went through abuse then too. But I’m speaking on Maddie because everyone shits on other characters and forget that every single person gets to make decisions. Right or wrong. Blackmailed, or out of free will. To put an innocent person In Jail to me is a giant deal. Maddie is wrong for that and Jules too. Even though she was blackmailed. She had the opportunity to do the right thing. So did Maddie. This series shows how every single person is flawed. There isn’t a single one that is going along their life making great choices. It also shows the traumas that may have led people to make such choices a bit “easier” than others. Also, each person experiences trauma in a different way. Cassie AND Lexi both have a dad that abandoned them. Each one deals with trauma in their own ways. Life is all about choices.
Cassie's behavior is uncalled for. Lexi doesn't cope that way and that was her dad too. I'm pretty sure she misses him.
Absolutely. But that’s why I like this show. It shows us reality. People aren’t just one way right? People go through trauma; and people also make their own decisions. Cassie’s way of “dealing” with her personal trauma isn’t the same as Lexi. Neither are healthy. I think they all need therapy to grieve, and learn coping mechanisms and lead a healthy life. But Lexi isn’t making such crazy decisions like her sister.
I’m a believer if what and when we have control, we make our own decisions. Even under terrible circumstances. Many of them had chances to do the right thing even if they would suffer but they haven’t. Rue with the drug use, Cassie with the sleeping with Nate (and with others too when they won’t fill her emptiness) Maddie, Jules , Nate with what they did to Tyler, (Nate has a shit ton more horrific things) Kat gaslighting Ethan and wanting some fantasy, I mean I can go on. Nobody in this show is doing great.
