The most important thing is that you didn't lower the quality of your service just to deliver the job quicker, you kept working on and made sure that everything was better than before. Nice one!
I owned a W123 Coupe back in the day and in the mid 90s I had it restored....two new doors as the used to rot at tthe bottom, new sunroof, new bootlid and various pieces of trim, two new wings, and a filler cap....all factory as the pattern parts were rubbish and would never fit. They also used to rot by the sunroof leading edge. In those days the parts were available via the dealership but the job took a long time. I never got to see the restoration in stages. Your channel and project videos have truly shown me what it takes to get this job done. Well done for taking it on as the W123s can be rust pits. !! Well done.....great job and fantastic videos and commentary !!!!
Exceptionally well done - it sounds like the whole experience has really taken it out of you. Hold your head up high and remember - what does not kill you makes you stronger. First class. 👍👍
having been a fixer/restorer for my entire life I can relate. Some jobs you're so burnt with you don't photograph or film so you can make sure to see them out as soon as humanly possible. Glad you got some experience out of this ordeal, this is one of them "if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger" cases.
Congratulations! The most impressive part of this restoration, aside from your impeccable work, is how much your professionalism shone through. Even when the job proved much more than what you had agreed to handle and even when you were struggling with the work, you finished it with no less attention to detail. Because of that, you've given this old W123 a new life. As a W123 owner, I very much appreciate it, and I hope the owner appreciates how much of yourself you put into this car. Cheers to you!
I have a w123 280ce and I’m 75% there was going to ask can you do a little work on it 😂 … might have to pick your brains … which I’m sure you don’t want to hear! lol The 123 you’ve just done must be sort a fortune now. They’ve gone through the roof. Honestly your patience is an alluring asset, something I’m hopeful I can take heed of. Continue the great work and I hope your channel continues to prosper.
congratulations on finishing the mercedes, it looks fantastic! i can't wait to see the new workshop and the return of e30 content just like in the old days in the infancy of the channel. i hope that your life will become a lot less stressful now, but always remember you are a stronger and more experienced person having gone through it.
Here in Germany, the vintage car scene has a proverb "Das bessere Auto ist der bessere Kauf". "The better (and thus more expensive) car is the better buy". This, in turn, means you can´t get out what you have put in. When you buy a (decently) restored vehicle, you usualy pay less than the seller has invested. This fact makes it very difficult to earn money with extensive full restaurations for customers. You have just learned this lesson the hard way (like many others before you). But, as you say, the nightmare is over. I am happy for you! (Again: Like many others, I am sure). Now, give the good things a go! I look forward to many exciting E30 restauration stories. Keep it up!
Every time I start a project, it inevitably grows way out of proportion, some little thing goes wrong or there is hidden problems or issues I didn't account for. Or sometimes things just don't work how they should. I feel the pain, but what an incredible end result. Car looks amazing, and will provide many years of enjoyment for the customer!
You have learned so much from this build, even though at the time you weren't very happy with yourself! I can't lie, I am not going to miss this W123. Looking forward to looking forward!
My dearest Steven, if the ONLY lesson you’ve learned from this restoration is what decisions to make, and when as well as what mistakes to AVOID, the sweat equity you’ve invested will have been well worth it!! I’m so proud of you for finally completing this despite all the time and enormous effort invested. ♥️♥️♥️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Well done!! I use to be a panel beater and you done us proud.- I am just starting my own project restoration on a w123 280TE. So wish me luck I’m going to need it for this one!!
I really appreciate your attitude about this project. It's great that you acknowledge that it was a mistake, but you learned a lot from the process. Cheers!
I will admit, I'm happy to see you getting back to the BMWs. I bet you learned a lot about bidding a job though. The business side of it. That's useful information for a clever man. Congrats on getting it done.
Ah I remember when you started this project I knew you were opening a can of worms with it. I'm glad it's over for your sanity. Hopefully you'll be a bit more cheerful in future videos. Could really hear how much this project bogged you down. Great stuff as always keep it up! :) 😀
Live and learn. No corners cut even under pressure. Good to hear that the experience hasn't dampened your enthusiasm for the projects ahead. Can't wait for the next videos, but from what we've seen I'll understand a bit of a hiatus.
Stellar job dude. Stellar. Typically people think a seemingly simple repair will take little to no time. In reality, it can take days, weeks, and even months. Great job again. I am sure you are over the moon.
Thanks, dude! You're spot on there... Combine that with a TH-cam channel and things can take even longer. I'm over the moon while simultaneously being the most exhausted I've ever been, mentally and phyically haha. A bit of a rest and I'll be good to go. Thanks mate.
@@RestoreIt sometimes it takes going to rock bottom to reach the top of the mountain. Taking breaks are important man. Recalibrating yourself and readjusting values leads to success.
Wonderful work, mate! What's even more wild is that your relief that the project is complete can even be heard in your voice in the narration of this video!!
Awesome work on the car and the video. You are a success! Keep investing in the channel it will pay off. Everyone enjoys seeing a master practicing his craft.
It's good to hear that if you had the chance to go back in time that you'd still make the same choice, that's something that diffirentiates someone who makes mistakes and doesn't learn from them with someone that makes mistakes and takes the experience they've got from it with them. I'm also really happy to see how the car turned out, you did a great job and really have shown your expertise and crafstmanship! Kind regards from Holland ;)
I really like chanels like this, who work on the whole process without skipping anything to finish quicker. That's a real professional work and more than talent! Thank you very much for sharing these videos and hope you Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Crazy how much I can relate to not getting the proper after pictures and shots after dealing with the stress of the last minute details. I am glad this is behind you and seeing what you’ve learned will do great things for your future success. Good job man.
Amazing work young sir, well done. I'm afraid your perfectionist and honourable characteristics coupled with your customer's complete lack of conscience over their side of the commercials has cost you dearly although it has been good to hear you say you have learned a lot from this experience in both skills and business savvy.
Thank you for filming this fantastic rebuild, I’m really impressed with what you did and the end result , i m not a bmw lover but I’ll have to watch you channel now has it’s addictive
You poor thing, it must be such a relief. I hope you don't end up with nasty flashbacks every time you see a W123! If you do, just take a couple of breaths and move on. 😊 Looking forward to your future adventures. 👍
I’m glad I found your channel! you have great work ethic and your customer should be thankful.. clearly you did not want to scam him and add more work to the project. I wish you only got ones if you decide to take on more projects like that but remember on every shitty one there’s ten good ones and they make it worth the hustle! Cheers mate.
This has been an excellent series and we applaud your efforts in bringing us your story. Incidentally, you can get a genuine Merc wing from MB for about £350. It always worth asking them first.
Amazing job. A lesser man would have given up months ago :) Credit to you for sticking with it. The quality of work and attention to detail throughout this project is on another level. 👌

congratulations! Super job, my W123 fell into a heap of rust... loved her, sold on eBay for the engine that was shipped to Egypt to go in a taxi!
Hey buddy! Don't call it a nightmare, but a challenge instead! Your result speaks by itself, I love it! Congratulations!!!
Good work getting that finished. Not everyone would have had the intestinal fortitude to see it through to the end.
