For Fix it Grammar it is recommended to begin at Level 1 regardless of the grade of the child. We have liked it for our middle and high school homeschool.
Fixit grammar is one thing my kids never want to skip. I don’t know why they think it’s so fun but they love it. ❤️❤️
PS, I would start any kid (grade / age) in level 1.
We love Camp and when you know all the trivia answers, there's an expansion pack. Love that game!
I agree, start at level one with Fix It Grammar no matter the age. We used it this year with my 4th grader and I think it’s really great, I will use it with all my kiddos! But my possibly unpopular opinion is that it is very repetitive, and I don’t think it needs to be done daily. It’s a great supplement and once or twice a week is plenty 👍🏻
Trekking the national parks is SO much fun!
We have Camp and Trekking the National Parks. Both are great!
Rainbow resource is just outside my childhood hometown 😊
Totally curious about the game Camp! If you do any updates, throw a little review of that one in when you play it🤪🤪 I have had that one on my wishlist forever and just haven’t jumped in yet LOL
From IEW's website it says: "To place your student in the new Fix It! Grammar program, review the book descriptions and the Student samples above. Students with little or no grammar background should begin in Level 1 regardless of their age." It absolutely does not say to start with "The Nose Tree" no matter what.
I might recommend the Nose Tree for kids from 3-6th ish grade, but even then it would depend. I would absolutely recommend beginning a little bit farther along in the series for an older child who is familiar with the concepts.
We love FixIt Grammar! I started with my middle/high schoolers since it was successful I started it with my 4th grader.
We love Fix it grammar! For two years my girls and I loved to do it together on a white board...it usually took about fifteen minutes! Now they're used to it so I have been having them practice on their own and then we come together to do a quick check of their work. I also have the girls practice hand writing by writing the sentences in cursive! I hope your family loves it too! Hugs
No matter the grade, I would start with Nose Tree level 1.
I love a good rainbow resources haul!!! So many goodies
I started Fix It Grammar with my fourth grader midway through the school year. We started with Robin Hood and it's been a good fit for her, especially because she's familiar with and a fan of that story. She's also dyslexic but thriving with this curriculum. I think you'll really like it for your kids.
We love fix it grammar. My older boys do it together (on level 3 now) and my daughter will start it I think in a year.
We love Fix It Grammer. I would recommend starting with Level 1 despite their grade level. IEW is also a fantastic writing program.
We love Fix It! Grammar. We’re going on our third year using it. It is thorough but also not overwhelming. It’s been a great tool for my kids. We also use the Grammar cards - they are just helpful to have on hand especially as you are beginning.
Please do an update review of the games! They look amazing!
We started fix it grammar with my 3rd and 5th graders. It’s a quickly 5-10 minute exercise they complete as independent work and then I review/correct it with them. I feel like they’ve learned so much! And it’s been a great review for me 😆
My dad is actually really good friends with the creator of Camp! We got it when he released it years ago. It was fun to see it in your haul!
My oldest will be starting Level 3 of Fix It Grammar, and my youngest will be in Level 1 (they'll be 5th and 3rd). We've really liked it. It takes it at such a methodical approach that my oldest has learned so much in the first two years and clearly understands it. She does it completely independently.
Ooooo I need the ecosystem game for my 9th grader who is doing BF's new world geography and ecology this coming year!
I wish I could remember the source so I could give them credit but a piece of advice for Fix It Grammar. When your kiddo has finished the curriculum, make them aware that they just edited an ENTIRE STORY!!! They feel so good when they realize what they've accomplished.
Hi Abby,
We are a CM family that used Spelling Wisdom and Using Language Well. I put my son into Level Five Fix It grammar and it was a great fit. I feel if kids are used to parsing sentences as they do in the SCM using Language Well they don't need to start at the begining of Fix it Grammar. The only thing he had to learn was how to mark the fix it part with their correct markings which wasn't a big deal at all. I hope this helps. 🥰 Fix It grammar fits well into a CM school.
Thank you!!! I was going to sit down and try to figure out where to plug it in with ULW/SW! This is helpful!
love hauls!
You can reach out to the game maker and request replacement pieces. A lot of times they will send them!
I'm torn between SCW Using Language Well for my 4th grader versus Fix It Grammar. How have you felt about it after trying Fix It Grammar with your kids this summer?
I’m going to continue do them in tandem during the school year!
Do you do only 1 fix it grammar a day?
Does anyone know what to search rainbow resources for to get all the tubes? I searched tubes and I got plus plus tubes.
Yes! Search the brand “toob” 😊
How do you store all these things?
So there are some bins from lakeshore learning that I showed last week, I separate the little sensory toys into those bins and can fit 15 bins per shelf in our garage storage. Whenever I buy things for school I buy storage immediately or it won’t find a place, and things will get lost!
