I think they tamed the first season down for ratings or safety reasons. There’s really no other explanation I can think of why it was so “off” compared to the original and season 2 I loved it though! Especially the songs and the parodies. My favorite ones were the dictators dinner for schmucks parody and the bit where the animator just messes with yakko within the animation program
the patb bits will always be my favorite. i love their dynamic this season wayy more than season 1. it feels a little more like the original if that makes sense
The Animaniacs reboot continues to impress me time and time again!! This show means a lot to me, and I’m so happy that the reboot still has the same feel as the original. The ideas are fresh and exciting, and the jokes are just as good as ever
I miss the other characters the show used to have, like Chicken Boo, Slappy Squirrel, Runt and Rita, the Goodfeathers, Hello Nurse, etc. Almost none of them have shown up, and the ones that have are cameos. I was especially hoping Minerva Mink would come back since she was the least utilized character in the original series and I was hoping the modern entertainment climate could allow for her in ways the 90's couldn't.
I just got around to finishing watching this, and my favorite line as to be when Brain and Pinky are on the super villian island. Brain is like "Looks like I'm not just playing with myself" Pinky delivering Good Night everybody was a great joke, since Rob voices both Yakko and Pinky.

Your not missing too much as Hulu’s cheap option and expensive options both play constant ads. Dev is going to use beds in the end if you chose the expensive option though.
Season 3 was confirmed back when Season 1 got released, so it seems Hulu is fairly confident in the series despite the lack of advertising for this season
One of my favorite segments of the original was the Einstein one. The Ben Franklin segment in this series feels like its own version of the Einstein one, which is really neat
ive been stuck in the animaniacs fandom ever since the first season came out, so its really funny to me to see people being like “oh shoot the second season is out?” while me and me friends have been literally marking the days on our calendar since april 😂
Season two was certainly a banger I love that Yakko got more songs cause in season one they sometimes teased us about it except for the rap battle of course that was bad ass and I love the episode when they gave him an episode where the artist is messing with the favorite lovable character like they did with bugs and daffy but except it had a twist where Yakko and the artist had a truce and became friends that was great
Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU SaberSpark!!! I LOVE Animaniacs! I grew up with it and its honestly a big influence on me wanting to become an animator! And Most of the reviews I've seen are either blinded by nostalgia or blinded by hate because it ISN'T the original! I love your videos and I'm so glad that you talk about all the differences and the pros and cons of it all! (I also really love seeing you talk about a show so dear to my heart)
What I love about the reboot is that it doesn’t change that much from the original; it stayed as fun and witty as it always was. The reboot essentially just modernized the series.
5:34 Nero, that's Nero. They were comparing Trump to Nero. The main difference is Trump didn't realize he didn't have the same level of executive authority as Nero.
Feels like the creative talent behind this show really wanted to just do a Pinky and the Brain reboot but WB and Spielberg insisted on the Warners coming along too
Yeah. I like the Warners but I got into the original Animaniacs in middle school and pretty much just watched it for Pinky and The Brain. They are definitely my favorite part of the reboot and in a way, I don’t really want some of the old characters to come back because it could shorten or even eliminate them in some episodes.
I found it nuts for one of the the theme song variations, they made a joke on inertial reference frames. Had to rewind that one to make sure I heard it right
9:28 I mean if Solar Opposites could get away with a direct reference to Space Jam in the Season 1 finale in spite of being a Fox show at the time on a Disney streaming service...
Fun fact: I grew up in Homewood, Illinois, which is where the original animation studio for Animaniacs was located and I met at a local comic book shop Doug Rice who did some animation for the show.
I don't know if Saberspark ever did it but I kinda wanna see him react/review to student's animations like Gobelins or just content creators' works regardless of background.
Hey chat have an awesome week Hi saberspark can't wait for the reanimated Joshua and the promised land you and your crew are incredible I know it will be great
Yoo, I did the same thing vis a vie watching the original series while watching the new series. I don't think any other reboot I've seen captures the spirit of the original so perfectly. To me, this new series is exemplary of what a reboot should be.
1:09 Because Hulu is owned by Disney and is basically their new Touchstone/Buena Vista (that honor goes to STAR in Europe and Canada). Deadpool 3 might be part of the MCU but don't expect Deadpool 3 on Disney+ because it will be R-rated. Same with the upcoming Blade reboot.
@WiiManElite Black Panther is getting a sequel in spite of bombing in China, which is the only market that actually matters to Disney. Think about that for a second.
Cartoon reboots that are actually good are very underrated and not talked about, I recommend you do a video on the good reboots that are faithful to the original and enjoyed by loyal viewers... if there are any...
Speaking as one of the animators for both seasons of the new Animaniacs, I can’t understate the cathartic joy of a contracted artist being encouraged to share their labour of love online for people to see, as it is so often not the case! I choose to see the social media activity more as a sign of respect from the studio to their artists rather then a general product of “the internet age vs the 90’s”, if you know what I mean. Just thought it was important to point out that the artists who share their production art publicly often do so because they are granted permission and less so because the internet allows them the opportunity :]
The Animaniacs Season 2 felt exactly what a season 2 should feel like: it was just more of season 1. For The Animaniacs, that's both good news and bad news. On the good side of things, The Animaniacs still has that perfect combo of slapstick physical humor, sexual innuendos (you will hear Wakko say, "Goodnight, everybody!" at least once per episode) and political jokes. On the bad side of things, the show might as well be retitled "The Animaniacs featuring Pinky & The Brain," for it still lacks other segments that made it a variety show in the 90s, including Slappy the Squirrel, Goodfeathers, Wheel of Morality and Good Idea/Bad Idea. They tried to bring back the part of the show where a toddler tells a story and the animators draw it, but the entertainment for that stops at a whimsical gimmick. Ultimately, if you wanted more of the 90s original, you'll hate season 2, but if you are alright with more of the 2020s reboot, you'll love season 2.
This reboot has slowly disappointed the more I think of it. The lackluster songs and underwhelming jokes with meta humor isn’t really doing it for me. Even from season 1 the character designs and animation just isn’t as appealing and I feel the same way about season 2. What’s really missing from this reboot, is the heart of the original series. Mind you, not every segment was golden in the original but I still think as a whole, the original is still a lot more concrete with its characters, jokes and overall presentation. Heck, the absence of Slappy Squirrel really saddens me since, imo, her segments were some of the funniest in the series. The fact that the producers felt that they didn’t need anyone from the original series to return, really irks me and having a guy in charge from family guy really shows its ugly head in this reboot. The writing and jokes just feel so lazy to the point I’m just bored with overall show. I am glad saber you were able to enjoy this new show a whole lot, but from an old fan that girl from the series and shaped my sense of humor and my taste in cartoons, I’ll have to rate this reboot as a miss and going to move until I see a drastic improvement.
I really liked both the new seasons, the show seemed in perfect forum with how it was back when I watched the old ones episodes when I was a kid. I don't think it will get a 3rd season but one can hope.
I want to see saberspark make a video on "Birdboy: The forgotten children"!!! Its an obscure animated movie from Spain and its honestly really good BUT to actually understand whats going on you really have to be a bigbrain in analysing symbolism and themes! While the story is simple and clear you can get much more out of this LSD trip of an animated movie if you interpret the visuals.
My cousin works with the music for this show, and he said months before the season came out that they were going to “tear Christopher Columbus a new one” and I find it so funny seeing it now
I have suggestions. Tv shows, The trapdoor, Grizzly tales for gruesome kids, The animals of farthing wood, The Moomins 1977, The Moomins 1990 and creature comforts. Movies, Leafie a hen into the wild, The thief and the cobbler, Moomin and the comet chase, Krysar aka the pipe piper of Hamlin, Twice upon a time, A town called panic, Boy and the world, It such a beautiful, Fantastic planet and the works of Jan svankmajer
well the good thing is that now i, a teenage european in 2021, actually get most of the jokes instead of trying to understand humor for people of america in the 90's tho i do have to say having to google names to understand references and caricatures was fun sometimes binging pinky and the brain as we speak and you bet imma try to understand it even if i'm gonna need to have google open for searching up comedians, actors and presidents of the usa
I think that it might've had to do with a piece of Literature which is fiction, where a Mouse named Amos actually is the one who made the ideas, while Benjamin Franklin executed them, though Benjamin Franklin was good friends with Amos........until the electricity experiments caused a small rift between them, but I am sure that they made up by the end of the book but I could be remembering that wrong cause I mostly remember watching the I think it was a Disney short type of thing. I love Pinky and the Brain I'm so happy they brought it back 🐭for a new generation to enjoy
Me and my sisters are thinking of binging Animaniacs Season 2 and seeing how it is! I heard it was good so👀👀👀
Tell me when you and your sister finished watching season 2! 👀💙
I think they tamed the first season down for ratings or safety reasons. There’s really no other explanation I can think of why it was so “off” compared to the original and season 2
I loved it though!
This is literally how I found out this has a second season
I found articles back in mid october about the season 2 announcement
I’ve seen the first three episodes so far, then got busy with school
Me too sometimes I can't watch the series that my friends recommend to me because I'm busy with school ✏️ 🎓 🍎. Also, this is examens period and I NEED to study math ✖️ I'm so bad at it 😅🤣🤣🤣
Pinky and the Brain is the BEEEEEEG highlight of the reboot! EVERYTHING they do is surreal and on-character.
5:33 You don’t remember the joke about “fingering prince” in the original series? They always hid salacious adult jokes in the show
It is still ANIMANY, TOTALLY INSANY🎵
It is but it's also hululy fundy
As someone who really likes Animaniacs, I felt like this season was a lot more close to the feel of the original show. I wasn't that much of a fan of season 1, but this season was a huge improvement in my eyes. Also those mice are gay.
lmao yea. i don't mean this in a rude way but im surprised he thinks Julia and Brain might become a romantic thing when... well honestly there was so much gay stuff with Pinky and Brain this season i don't think i can sum it up with without this comment being a few paragraphs long
omg hi pebble soooo true
I am living for how often they have Pinky in drag. It's amazing.
@@electrahart Omg hi hartley bestie
Cannot wait for season 3! I'm just interested in where Pinky and Brain's relationship is gonna go from here
It's kind of annoying that they put it on Hulu, since we don't have that here.
Your not missing too much as Hulu’s cheap option and expensive options both play constant ads. Dev is going to use beds in the end if you chose the expensive option though.
@@mattsmocs3281 those lucky bastards get to sleep on comfortable beds
@@gumbo34 a very comfortable sleep, a victorious one in fact
I like the episode where Yakko is getting messed with by the animator since it references one of my favorite daffy duck shorts
I love that Yakko got an animator vs animation episode😂
I like Julia she is like a crazy smart version of Pinky.
Season 3 was confirmed back when Season 1 got released, so it seems Hulu is fairly confident in the series despite the lack of advertising for this season
I thought season 2 was an improvement on season 1 👍
Hey Saberspark this reboot got me hooked on Animaniacs!
6:47 - 6:52
They better do a parody of *Kaguya-sama: Love is War* with these characters.
"NARF" at the end was the chef's kiss.
I really look forward to getting both seasons of the reboot (and the original if I can find them) on DVD
That episode came out 9 months too late.
It was a slight improvement of S1 but i hop s3 will bring back classic characters, and will have thier own segments back too.
Loved season 2. They are really doing the series justice.
I don't know if Saberspark ever did it but I kinda wanna see him react/review to student's animations like Gobelins or just content creators' works regardless of background.
i'd love to see him talk about "The Reward" and Tales of Alethrion.
@@theswampus670 OMG yes that series !!!!
I hope season 3 takes the great parts of both seasons and does soemthing truly incredible
Hey chat have an awesome week
Hi saberspark can't wait for the reanimated Joshua and the promised land you and your crew are incredible I know it will be great
Yoo, I did the same thing vis a vie watching the original series while watching the new series. I don't think any other reboot I've seen captures the spirit of the original so perfectly. To me, this new series is exemplary of what a reboot should be.
Mostly what i love about the reboot is the improved humor and parodies
I loved the hommage to Yakko's World in one of the episodes
1:09 Because Hulu is owned by Disney and is basically their new Touchstone/Buena Vista (that honor goes to STAR in Europe and Canada). Deadpool 3 might be part of the MCU but don't expect Deadpool 3 on Disney+ because it will be R-rated. Same with the upcoming Blade reboot.
@WiiManElite Black Panther is getting a sequel in spite of bombing in China, which is the only market that actually matters to Disney.
Think about that for a second.
I hope the other classic characters return next season or season 4.
The humans look terrifying
But I love the Pinkie and the Brain skits!
Cartoon reboots that are actually good are very underrated and not talked about, I recommend you do a video on the good reboots that are faithful to the original and enjoyed by loyal viewers... if there are any...
The Ducktales reboot??
Does anyone remember "Science Court"? It had the same characters from the show "Home Movies" animated using good Ol' Squiggle Vision.
Just imagine if Elmyra appears in Season 3, and chases the Warners around Los Angeles
I didn't know that they had season 2 up. Thanks for telling us.
That thumbnail tho
Nah nah nah,
Julia just documents Pinky and Brain's relationship. XD
I am from Brazil and the first season of this series it is on HBO MAX (because Hulu it is not coming to Brazil yet)
Now I know where to vpn. Thanks
@@TapDat52K you're welcome
The animation is smooth at times
I hear ya mate I've been able to get in touch with so many VA's now it's been awesome
I thought s2 was a big improvement.
Honestly the best part of the entire season for me was the Portal 2 joke in Yakko Amakko
animaniacs reboot: a reboot done right in many ways while adapting to modern audience
I really liked both the new seasons, the show seemed in perfect forum with how it was back when I watched the old ones episodes when I was a kid. I don't think it will get a 3rd season but one can hope.
They announced season 3 this February...
@@TerrorOfTalos Well thank you for the info
I ended up watching the Season in One Day without realizing, Hope to See a New Season Soon.
My cousin works with the music for this show, and he said months before the season came out that they were going to “tear Christopher Columbus a new one” and I find it so funny seeing it now
Oh I would love an episode on Hit Monkey on Hulu. I personally loved it. I may be bias because I've loved him since the comics.
It's Lion-O; Lionel is a toy train company. But I get what you are saying. I couldn't agree more. The formula for the reboot I'm happy didn't change .
I have suggestions. Tv shows, The trapdoor, Grizzly tales for gruesome kids, The animals of farthing wood, The Moomins 1977, The Moomins 1990 and creature comforts. Movies, Leafie a hen into the wild, The thief and the cobbler, Moomin and the comet chase, Krysar aka the pipe piper of Hamlin, Twice upon a time, A town called panic, Boy and the world, It such a beautiful, Fantastic planet and the works of Jan svankmajer
well the good thing is that now i, a teenage european in 2021, actually get most of the jokes instead of trying to understand humor for people of america in the 90's
tho i do have to say having to google names to understand references and caricatures was fun sometimes
binging pinky and the brain as we speak and you bet imma try to understand it even if i'm gonna need to have google open for searching up comedians, actors and presidents of the usa
The 3rd season was announced by Hulu in Feburary of 2021 so yes its comin' back next year
They have a season 2?!?!
Or a season 7
I think that it might've had to do with a piece of Literature which is fiction, where a Mouse named Amos actually is the one who made the ideas, while Benjamin Franklin executed them, though Benjamin Franklin was good friends with Amos........until the electricity experiments caused a small rift between them, but I am sure that they made up by the end of the book but I could be remembering that wrong cause I mostly remember watching the I think it was a Disney short type of thing. Not really sure, but they were most likely doing a parallel to that but did their own twists to it.
Just looked up that bit with the dictators. The joke on Maduro was funny AND hurtful for all of us at the same time 😅
I can’t believe it’s already been a year since the revival started
To be honest, I had high hopes for Slappy squirrel and good feathers on season 2, but it was a great season!
I don't know about Franklin but the one I remember learning about being a huge crook with stealing ideas was Edison.
