I was about to say the same thing. He's been anointed "a brilliant offensive mind" since he showed up in 2022, but he seems unable to score against the big teams. Let alone build a strong QB room. Signing to 55+ mil/y a multiple-concussion case !!!

I take issue with the "brilliant offensive mind" description for McDaniel. Swing passes to the flat and deep crossers. That's it. The offense was, literally, on average better with Flores.
@jeanfourcade It's a debatable question. Someone like Bill B. who was very stern, and then you have Mike M. who is very kind. Which coaching style works the best. I don't know. I'm a niners fan, and Mike was very well liked by everyone. Maybe be somewhere in the middle. Not Hitler and not too nice. We saw how important the backup qb position is when we lost 4 in one season. Gotta have a good backup qb. Mike said they were looking at Skyler T. and Purdy. They decided to go with Skyler. That was not a good decision.
As a Washington fan, I would recommend the Dolphins going after Sam Howell. Was a starter last year and has a cannon arm. Also shouldn't cost them too much.
Doubt it, with Hill they are premier destination for any free market QBs. And who would take Hill? Dallas could use him but I doubt they can afford him. Minnesota could be interesting but I don’t see Jefferson and Hill’s egos from being a problem and they had enough of that with Diggs. Chargers would be a great landing spot if they can afford him but not sure their coach would want to spend that much on the offense. Packers might make a good short term spot, they have a lot of talent on rookie deals. I don’t see them trading in the division, that rules out the Jets and Bills. So I think I talked myself into the Chargers or the Packers
@Z0mb1e564 Washington was a consideration a player in the Aiyuk trade, I could see them making trade, they only really have Terry as a top WR and no burner so Hill would be a great fit, especially with how deadly Daniles is it could make their offense even more dangerous and they have the cap space to do it

The illegal shift 3 plays in the red zone proves that the offense is too complex to easily plug and play different players. Huntley showed he cannot handle this offense. And his throwing motion is like he did shot put in college. Coaching or lack thereof is the problem here.
Ima day one dolphins fan and south Floridian, I laughed when we first got mcdaniels and him sticking with Tua and pushing for a big pay day literally told the story of how mediocre both Tua and McDaniels is, what a waste of wr talent because of emotional decisions, god bless the coaches who makes business decisions
Tyreek was wide open on 3 plays that would have been TD's and Huntley either over threw him or under threw him. He also was streaking down the sidelines and Huntley threw it out of bounds. If that was Tua he would have had 3 td's and over 100 yards.
If McDaniel was such a guru he should be able to install some vanilla qb friendly concepts and call some qb rollouts to get Huntley in the move. Packers coach did it with Malik Willis but instead they’re forcing that quick timing offense that’s tailored to Tua

@dolfabfinatic for real, dude tries to run cute plays every drive, 4th and inches with a running QB and they line up in the gun and do a read option where the RB runs an outside zone.. he hasn’t done anything as HC and they have a good defense and some of the best weapons on offense in all of football and can’t do anything. Clearly not like Mike S in San Fran who can plug any QB in his system with those weapons and they have good success
McDaniel did exactly what he said he was going to do. Build the offense to Tua's skillset. This is the outcome with Tua's particular skills that can't be replicated in any fashion by the backups.
The problem isn't the QB, it's the coach and his approach. The offense has been designed with Tua as the sole focus, and now the entire team is suffering when he's unavailable to run it. This is a significant oversight from a coaching perspective. Other teams are winning games with their backup quarterbacks, just look at last game Rudolph was a backup QB.
They spent their $ on a track team instead of O line and defense. It's clear they don't understand how the game of football is actually played and won.
The Chiefs have one of the most expensive backup QBs in the league. Maybe, just maybe, it's something rather important to consider that ANY QB can miss a month, and if that happens you can't go 0-4.
We had a two backups but we should got another one immediately but in a way we did since Skyler was only in for one game, didn't expect our backup to get hurt his first game but we got a great backup now with Huntley.
I think Ross has to go. Telling Flores he has to babysit someone else's draft picks, trades, and signings is not advantageous. The pattern is Ross wants to build the car, you have to drive it. I think Flores was hungry to become a head coach but wasn't allowed to actually pick players and "was told to lose games for picks"? Almost the same deal different approach. This is starting to look like groundhog day.... 8 more months of winter until training camp.....
The fact is, the team was struggling WITH him. They barely won one game, and he had thrown 3 INT's in the other game he played which was a blow out loss to the Bills before he got hurt.

The Dolphins are struggling without Tua because of MM not having a backup plan for WHEN Tua got injured again. Hell, they were struggling with Tua. There’s so much wrong with this organization, starting with Grier.
Such an execrable situation. This is why I believe in Parcells' philosophy of building from the inside out. Terron Armistead is too injury-prone to pencil him in and we should not have let Robert Hunt walk. Flash is nothing if you can't get them the ball. It's the lunch pail guys up front that get you two yards when you need it that win you the game.
Miami is going to be high draft. Like 12-15 pick. Draft quarterback. As your backup. Spend money o-lime. Giving Tau that money. For a injury problem player. Is crazy. Before the draft the player got hurtt in Alabama.
All they had to do was get a lineman or two, but Grier refused to even try that. Hill was streaking open on 3 different plays and Huntley either outright missed or was too pressured to make a pass
that won't solve their problem. MM has tailored this offense to Tua and no one else can run this damn thing. He has to adjust his game plan to the QBs best traits. At this point Keep It Simple Stupid and draw up plays Huntley will succeed with. He usually loves throwing to TEs and I don't think there was one TE pass or catch last night... Stop running and passing sideways teams have adjusted to not playing to their stupid motions. MM has to adjust and fix this or this season is over.
sign cam newton, run read option, QB power, stretch run, and play action off if it with 2-3 deep shots a game, and crossing routes off the play action. Turn it into power football. Tell Jeff Wilson lace up his cleats because 65% run will be the offense.
I wish McDaniel would spend less time being "quirky" and buddies with the players, and more time actually game planning and building a roster. His whole schtick got tired halfway through last season. The playoff game at KC exposed him and his inability to adjust.
When RE says that Tua went through last season without getting a concussion, what that says to me is; the Dolphins management have had 18 months to plan a backup to a concussion-prone and they still could not come up with a Plan B?
I didn't know what Miami was thinking when they drafted. The only o lineman they drafted was a developmental tackle in the 2nd and when he started looked horibble. They did not address interior of either oline or dline and drafted two edge rushers who when drafted were edge 4 and 5 on the depth chart. Trading up for a rb3 and drafted two slot receivers when they could of drafted a tight end which they never do. If they are a top 5 pick I think they should draft a QB and if not draft one in the 2nd.
In a few months the Jaguars may want to jettison an overinflated contract for a losing QB and get a first or second round pick, give Mac a shot, and use the new pick on a cheap QB with future potential. Miami, Las Vegas, the Giants, Carolina, amd even Tennessee may want to try Trevor out. Consider how some struggling QBs have flourished elsewhere. Darnold , Mayfield, Stafford.
They will not move on from Trevor, that would make the Russell Wilson dead money hit this year for the Broncos look like chump change. Also, Lawrence is part of the problem in Jacksonville, but is also one of the few current pieces that could also be part of a solution.
@@ХорхеГарсия-э5е That the Broncos took such a hit only shows teams can be moved to take such a hit. One would think that if they trade Trevor then it's the next team that pays off the contract and frees up (some of) that money for the Jaguars. And if Trevor ends up being Josh Rosen ... he won't be a part of the solution for Jacksonville. But I agree with you in this .... the Jaguars will likely hold on long and hard to Trevor in hopes of being proven right for giving him so much money for one solitary playoff victory two years ago. I doubt they will trade m him ... but rumors will persist. It could happen. I don't think it will ... but it could. No one would have thought a number 1 pick like Rosen could have been jettisoned. No one would have thought Wilson could be given so much guaranteed dead money just to be sent packing. But it happens. And I think Trevor might flourish with a new start elsewhere. I hope he rights his ship ... and soon. But I'll agree with you that he's likely to stay for a couple more years. Unless his slump continues unabated and without letup.
@@ХорхеГарсия-э5е I will say that if Trevor Lawrence loses 36 games over two seasons then the Jacksonville Jaguars, being in a small market that struggles to support an NFL team, can't afford to keep Trevor. Regardless of for how much they'll on the hook with his inflated contract the Jaguars can't survive fielding a team that never wins. There is a limit to how long they can hold on to a QB that can't win enough, or any, games. Lawrence may get the Jaguars to move to London. And there has been talk of the Jaguars going to London.
@@davidely7032 The flaw of this argument is pinning ALL the issues of Jacksonville on Trevor Lawrence, as if they aren't a poverty franchise that whenever has had the chance to screw things up they have done it. There is an argument to be made that the only smart decision that franchise has made in a literal half decade is drafting Trevor Lawrence, and that because it was such a no brainer that they were basically "forced" into it by common wisdom. Had Trevor been even a somewhat controversial pick they are the kind of stupid team to draft Zach Wilson over him, and this is not just speculation since they are also the franchise that a year later drafted Travon Walker over Aidan fucking Hutchinson. My point being, sure, IF they go 0-17 it will be a though bullet to bite keeping Trevor for the long run, but Josh Hines-Allen is the only player worth a damn in that entire team, the rest is just "potential", in most cases unfulfilled. And, I'm not a Jagus fan nor watch most of their games, but when I watch them play offense that looks like a 90s team. There are no layups on offense, everything is hard, so when your QB is not in a good moment you're counting on him to make hard throw after hard throw to keep the chains moving? That's just asking for disaster. But well, whatever, the last 3 years pf NFL football kind of have killed or at least put the "QB bust" stereotype under the microscope, some teams are just a young QB grinder, and the Jags seem to be a textbook example.

For many teams having a good back up QB can decide the entire season, the position needs to be taken more seriously.
It’s pathetic how my dolphins keep fcking up every since Marino
Ponder this for a moment. Chicago Bears have been looking for a HOF QB since Sid Luckman retired after the 1950 season.
People are finally seeing how important Tua is to the dolphins ..
“Any QB can look good in that offense” yeah how’s that going? 🤣🤣
Yeah they always say that 😂 how is that going without Tua
Any starting caliber QB can look good or better in that offense.
You have a brain fart Tua looked terrible the first 2 games and threw 3 int in 3 quarters against the Bills Tua sucks
Any starting caliber QB would look great in that offense, stop trying to boast Tua when they’ve thrown 3 guys they found outside of Walmart out there to try and play QB
Went from Any QB to any “starting calibre” QB.. 🤣🤣🤣 goal post keeps moving HAHAHAHAHA
Mike McDaniel is honestly really overrated as a coach
agreed...the guy is a yes man for Grier who is even more overrated as a GM
He's a Glasscannon.
He's blinded by his own genius and must think critically about what he can do with who is on the field
I was about to say the same thing. He's been anointed "a brilliant offensive mind" since he showed up in 2022, but he seems unable to score against the big teams. Let alone build a strong QB room. Signing to 55+ mil/y a multiple-concussion case !!!
Honestly, he appeared as though he was high on something last night and it wasn’t Life.😂
From the glassy-eyed, deer-in-headlights facial expressions and sweating from wearing hoodies in MIA weather to the rambling speech and weird, nonsensical metaphors (“We’re just gonna keep chopping wood”), if we found out tomorrow he’s been hitting a crack pipe before and/or during games, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
_That boy just ain’t right._ 🤔
Grier is probably the worst GM in sports.
Ross is the most clueless owner for keeping him.
I take issue with the "brilliant offensive mind" description for McDaniel. Swing passes to the flat and deep crossers. That's it. The offense was, literally, on average better with Flores.
Why did the dolphins not go get a veteran when Tua went down. The backup qb is really important. They did nothing. Skyler is not going to cut it.
How much cap space is available?
Because we didn’t want to hurt Tua’s feelings
Because McDaniel is adamant about ONE thing: never hurt people's feelings. Be sweet. When things go bad, give them a kiss.
Brilliant? Where are you getting that from?
Miami, you are on the clock.
Should have never gotten rid of Fitzmagic and Flores
Flores sucks as a HC
As a Washington fan, I would recommend the Dolphins going after Sam Howell. Was a starter last year and has a cannon arm. Also shouldn't cost them too much.
i'm a dolphins fan and we'll take fucking anybody who can throw a fucking football
Bold Prediction: The Dolphins will trade Tyreek Hill!
And hill will ask for even more money
@Z0mb1e564 Washington was a consideration a player in the Aiyuk trade, I could see them making trade, they only really have Terry as a top WR and no burner so Hill would be a great fit, especially with how deadly Daniles is it could make their offense even more dangerous and they have the cap space to do it
@@kylem6370 Fair point, especially with how well Jayden has been playing.
Please send him back to Mahomes!! 😊 school would be out!
WE just gonna pretend that the offense wasn't also struggling WITH him?....It's hard to get Huntley going when every fucking pass is behind the line...He SHOULD have been a spark bc he can run and can throw deep...Yet, McDickhead barely did any of that...
Right?!
13 Points over the last 2 games. 34 yards at the half last night. When did they struggle this bad either Tua??? 🤔this is records breaking bad.
@@wiseguy2312 23-37 for 338 and 1 td vs Jax...JAX....and 17/25 for 165, 1td, and 3 Picks vs Bufffalo.....Jax is arguably worse than we are and Sanders had to win that game...
@@paullmight42 buffalos always kills Miami. 330 yards and a TD is not bad. I’m willing to go out in a limb and say they won’t have a QB get close to that this year
@@wiseguy2312 23/37 is not good....and 80 of that came on 1 play
The illegal shift 3 plays in the red zone proves that the offense is too complex to easily plug and play different players. Huntley showed he cannot handle this offense. And his throwing motion is like he did shot put in college. Coaching or lack thereof is the problem here.
Ima day one dolphins fan and south Floridian, I laughed when we first got mcdaniels and him sticking with Tua and pushing for a big pay day literally told the story of how mediocre both Tua and McDaniels is, what a waste of wr talent because of emotional decisions, god bless the coaches who makes business decisions
It’s all good in Miami they have a cool coach that hits the vape on the sideline
Tyreek was wide open on 3 plays that would have been TD's and Huntley either over threw him or under threw him. He also was streaking down the sidelines and Huntley threw it out of bounds. If that was Tua he would have had 3 td's and over 100 yards.
Wide open I only seen 1 the bomb other than that he was locked up by sneed
cute story...there's no basis in reality but you do you
Were you blind Tua looked terrible the 1st 2 games Miami's offense has been figured out
If McDaniel's mind is as murky as his locution, the Dolphins are in for a rough ride again.
Shoulda grabbed Mac Jones
They went all-in with Tua, which is crazy. Miami deserves this situation for their lack of foresight.
If McDaniel was such a guru he should be able to install some vanilla qb friendly concepts and call some qb rollouts to get Huntley in the move. Packers coach did it with Malik Willis but instead they’re forcing that quick timing offense that’s tailored to Tua
Bruh there o-line is the worst in the nfl what you want screens all day... maybe there gm should of upgraded there o-line so this don't happen but hey that's just me being logical 😂
@@michealjarvis9381 they already do screens all game and that’s part of the problem. They’re calling swing passes 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 it makes no sense, especially when teams have their DBs pressed coverage waiting for it.
Guys they had 2 solid games with Tua where they had no lead. That's not just an issue of not having Tua.
Finally! Finally someone who MAKES SENSE !! what is worse than the dolphins management ? By just a hair, Rich is 10000000% correct. They should not even be in this mess period!!! They should have made way better decisions. Period!! A qb on the roster ( drafted) to grow and be ready for this circus right here... Tua has been injured most his football career and he's a great player but he's not I repeat top 12 in the league. He has not beaten anyone with a winning record when they needed to win!!! Rich you nailed it. So so many reporters are lost in the fog... thank u for saying what needed to be said
I know this is unfair, but. Earl Morrall. RIP Don. You are sorely missed at this time.
This is on all them Dolphin’s fans crying just give Tua his money!! Now what?
Michael McDaniel makes Forrest Gump look like JFK
100%, I love your comment. I always wondered whether anyone ever understood a word uttered by this pothead.
He's like Napoleon Dynamite on acid
Does anyone remember how Don Shula won games without his starting QB? This is what you get when you build a team around a QB that can't stay healthy and you don't have a backup that can be counted on.
Offensive genius Mike McDaniel doesn't have the answers? Wow guy gives some funny interviews at least
If McDaniel's mind is as murky as his locution, the Dolphins are in for a clownish ride again.
Everyone keeps saying McDaniel has a brilliant offensive mind better think again. He obviously is the problem here.
We need to stop with the McDaniel is a brilliant offensive mind....
So agreed, and his love affair with Tua
Exactly!
McDaniel did exactly what he said he was going to do. Build the offense to Tua's skillset. This is the outcome with Tua's particular skills that can't be replicated in any fashion by the backups.
@@ermac2210 remember the 3 interceptions before the concussion
The problem isn't the QB, it's the coach and his approach. The offense has been designed with Tua as the sole focus, and now the entire team is suffering when he's unavailable to run it. This is a significant oversight from a coaching perspective. Other teams are winning games with their backup quarterbacks, just look at last game Rudolph was a backup QB.
They spent their $ on a track team instead of O line and defense. It's clear they don't understand how the game of football is actually played and won.
Titans should have kept vrable
The Dolphins are break dancers - Chris Broussard
And these days, they’re not even doing THAT particularly well
The Chiefs have one of the most expensive backup QBs in the league. Maybe, just maybe, it's something rather important to consider that ANY QB can miss a month, and if that happens you can't go 0-4.
Anything can’t be done behind that offensive line. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE
Fire them all, trade the assets, reset.
We had a two backups but we should got another one immediately but in a way we did since Skyler was only in for one game, didn't expect our backup to get hurt his first game but we got a great backup now with Huntley.
Dire line situation! Get it right!
Two of those picks were not his fault
@@mr.morales4074 Did I mention that his only win was against an 0-4 Jaguars team? And they needed overtime to beat them? But yeah, keep making axcuses.
5:50: That "somebody else" is on the other sideline in the game against Indy and may be the starting quarterback that day for the Colts,, Joe Flacco. He was a free agent in the office. The Colts, with a second year QB and one who was hurt last season, made the smart move. The Dolphins decided to "roll the dice".
I’d be calling for Mac Jones. He’s played against the dolphins and he’s not bad with an offensive coach
Tua has to retire, how can the team possibly build a team around him!!!??? This will not go away, it’s sickening to look at all the ineptitude that brought us here!!! I wish I could bring a lawsuit vs the team for pain and suffering and all their own fault..so obvious this was going to happen-F Ross, F Grier..it’s so pathetic here..huge money for Armstead who barely plays or practices(huge chemistry factor) and let our 2 BEST OL walk..one signed for big $$$ but BY FAR OUR MOST IMPORTANT OL WILLIAMS WENT TO ANOTHER TEAM FOR SAME CONTRACT OBJ SIGNED FOR…I think this is a conspiracy to ruin franchise for another decade
Look at the number of back up qbs have been injured for the dolphins with greir as the gm. Any qb will be injury prone behind chris greir built olines
Blaine Gabbert's still out there...
Couldn’t be a more accurate title in so many ways !
Would Russel Wilson do better than what they have right now in Miami? He is still mobile and healthy and can do deep throws.
The Dolphins are struggling without Tua because of MM not having a backup plan for WHEN Tua got injured again. Hell, they were struggling with Tua. There’s so much wrong with this organization, starting with Grier.
Did McDaniel lose that locker room?
Brian Flores is looking very good now with the Vikings
Such an execrable situation. This is why I believe in Parcells' philosophy of building from the inside out. Terron Armistead is too injury-prone to pencil him in and we should not have let Robert Hunt walk. Flash is nothing if you can't get them the ball. It's the lunch pail guys up front that get you two yards when you need it that win you the game.
Four guys that haven’t played together on the offensive line😊
Miami is going to be high draft. Like 12-15 pick. Draft quarterback. As your backup. Spend money o-lime. Giving Tau that money. For a injury problem player. Is crazy. Before the draft the player got hurtt in Alabama.
All they had to do was get a lineman or two, but Grier refused to even try that. Hill was streaking open on 3 different plays and Huntley either outright missed or was too pressured to make a pass
The team deserves bad karma for supporting Hill.
Go out and trade for Winston, Mariota, Howell or Wentz at this point
that won't solve their problem. MM has to adjust and fix this or this season is over.
teams that signed or traded for capable backups aren't letting them go cheap
sign cam newton, run read option, QB power, stretch run, and play action off if it with 2-3 deep shots a game, and crossing routes off the play action. Turn it into power football. Tell Jeff Wilson lace up his cleats because 65% run will be the offense.
Like last years jets
Game 1 this season (with Tua) it did not look like the same team as last year. ..... Remember when they were scoring 30+ and 70 against Denver.
On the upside, the chatter from the fans was muted pretty early this year.
Huntley is a solid backup
Played well all things considered, especially later in the game.
As a Titan fan he didn’t ply terrible we have a top 10 defense
I wish McDaniel would spend less time being "quirky" and buddies with the players, and more time actually game planning and building a roster. His whole schtick got tired halfway through last season. The playoff game at KC exposed him and his inability to adjust.
Don't they have a GM?
@@JustSomeGuy009 yeah Grier, he sucks too
When RE says that Tua went through last season without getting a concussion, what that says to me is; the Dolphins management have had 18 months to plan a backup to a concussion-prone and they still could not come up with a Plan B?
I didn't know what Miami was thinking when they drafted. The only o lineman they drafted was a developmental tackle in the 2nd and when he started looked horibble. They did not address interior of either oline or dline and drafted two edge rushers who when drafted were edge 4 and 5 on the depth chart. Trading up for a rb3 and drafted two slot receivers when they could of drafted a tight end which they never do. If they are a top 5 pick I think they should draft a QB and if not draft one in the 2nd.
O/U 7+ wins for Miami this year?
Mike McDaniel looks like that little chicken (Egghead Jr) on Foghorn Leghorn..
@@davidely7032
The flaw of this argument is pinning ALL the issues of Jacksonville on Trevor Lawrence, as if they aren't a poverty franchise that whenever has had the chance to screw things up they have done it.
@@ХорхеГарсия-э5е tbf jags have been a playoff team like a serious one every decade since mid 90s or so . From Garrard to mjd to blake bortles (not saying he was good just the era) Their have been much worse franchise histories lol

Teams will soon be spending $85M on just the QB roster (60+20+5).
Tua comes back behind a o line that can’t protect him , what the hell do you think the outcome is going to be 😳
Tuas been bad for 7 or 8 games straight.
Incorrect
I had predicted that Miami would win only 9 games this season. It will be difficult for them to even win 5 now.
I didn't think Huntley looked "lost," he came in cold on short notice and I thought he played well all things considered. I'd stick with him for awhile.
All things considered, Tua must be loving this
HOW DO US FANS KNOW THAT WE SHOULD HAVE A GOOD OFFENSIVE LINE AND A DAMN GOOD BACKUP QB. HOW FOES THE GM NOT KNOW THIS AND OR ADDRESS THIS? WTF OUR WINDOW IS RAPIDLY DISAPPEARING.
I blame that last game on the boy genius coach more than Tyler Huntley. When he finally started using their exotic motions and letting him throw the ball, he had some success. But why wait till the game is out of hand to do it? I’d rather seeing Huntley throw a bad interception but at least be given the chance to do so then that game plan it was awful
They need a new coach.
This disaster is now easy to look past… see you in the draft… let’s hope there’s someone making decisions that knows how to draft offensive linemen.

i expect celebrity level HC to dance at the side, do some cool drills and make cool comments/tap into the players shoulder to turn it around... is that not the guy who was hyped by the media not too long ago...what has changed?
Miami's season went into oblivion in the blink of an eye. But these Tua concussion problems were always lingering and now its rearing its ugly head in the worst way possible. A shame - so many talented WR's and players but no QB. They should trade for Russel Wilson or somebody else who's just sitting around on the bench.
its not about the backup, mike doesnt know how to call a game w/o tua, also chris grier built a finesse team not a power team
Averaging 13 points a game. I feel as if teams have caught up to Mike McDaniels’ system.
Gotta have depth, this is the NFL. Players will get injured!!!!not if but when....
They have called more screens in 4 games then they have called in his 2 previous years there...
They arent using any of the motions they did on literally every snap they had last year...
Wtf is going on? It was this way before Tua went down too
I haven’t understood how Tannehill isn’t on someone’s roster since before the season started.
I said that Dolphins should sign Ryan Tannehill, probably the best option out there
Huntley was always good for the ravens but ravens don’t rely entirely on the long passing game.
Dolphins would have probably kept Mike White if he had done better in preseason. Skyler is injury prone as well so we should have got Huntley sooner so he could have had more time learning the play book.
