Railroader is a cooperative multiplayer and singleplayer railroad simulator set on a short line in transition era Appalachia - sometime in the 1940's to 1950's. It's about running freight and passenger trains - switching cars, pick-ups, set-outs, and switch lists.

2023 really has been a great year for train sims. I can't wait for this, the old school CTC Board especially warms my heart.
All the work y'all have done is earth shattering. I love the work & the proof of how wonderfully professional all you guys are and how well you've chosen your development priorities.
I'mma just create my own MOW scenarioes to do in this game, someone else can run the trains, I'll just pretend work with the track

I dont think I can even start to describe how excited i am for this game. I like derail valley and games like that but this is more the style of game I've been wanting. Especially living in the area of the us this is set in just makes it even better.

Great work! Even tho im big fan of aviation i would love to play Railroader.
This game is awesome. I've been playing it for hours on end. That being said, I've got a few suggestions.
1. I know you guys get tons of requests for certain engines, and probably have a lot planned, but I think the most needed would be 0-4-0 and 0-6-0 tank engines. These would be great for when you get to the point that you have to depend mostly on AI to get things done, due to map size, and you need to put more attention on switching. So instead of using your mainline engine to switch at every stop, bust some extra cash on getting small switchers to be stationed at the smaller yards, so you can drop off the cars, send the AI on its way, and get the cars where they need to go. These would also be generally useful for switching in small sidings, having no tender.
2. It would be great if the AI had a way to stop at stations, let passengers load and unload, then continue on. Maybe an option in "road" mode to select locations to stop at? The challenge with that, I see, is getting the AI to recognize when to depart, maybe it starts a 5 second timer that resets every time the passenger number changes?
3. I'm sure you get a lot of game balance feedback, but I think this one is close to the top of what needs changed: interchange freight isn't worth it. It just doesn't pay enough for the effort needed to organize the trains and put them in their sidings when jobs like the sawmill pay 4 figures. It's to the point that I avoid taking any small industry contracts unless the sidings are very convenient to get to, and I just tolerate the mandatory local freight for reputation.
Once again, awesome game, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. Keep up the good work

Derail Valley’s Simulator Update came out, the demo for Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator also released, and soon we’ll have this game too! 2023 has been a great year for train simulators!

Century of Steam was also announced this year. It's not going to be finished for awhile but it already looks amazing!
@@daniel4014BBDon’t get me started on Century Of Steam. When it comes out, I WILL BUY IT ASAP. Railroads online gets kinda boring after a while, but the fact that Century of steam will have tons more content than RRO, even having diesels, it’s bound to be exciting.

Growing up with the ‘Reading Railroad’ in my backyard, railfan in my blood, a former railroad contractor, and years of rail sims not made in America, I like what I see with your new sim! I’d like to politely put in my two cents if you don’t mind. You seem to be staying true to the regional area, which is honorable, but it may be a two-edged sword for me. First, I’ll tell you what is great about your sim: the transitional era, spot on for a US railroad sim; bravo! The monetary system, mechanics, and rail network all look great. Considering your sim seems to be focused on the function of an actual railroad, the models are satisfactory. Now I know it’s a work in progress, and It looks like probably the best approach at a railroad sim I’ve seen so far. I think what I’d like to see is heavy steam locomotives (for 250-car coal drags) with an emphasis on heavy industry (coal) as an option, an option for full AI automation without the need for any micro-management for each train, especially the passenger service, and eventually better detail with the models.

Hey! The trailer looks great, and I am super excited for it! But I do have one question, which I've asked before. Will there be full VR support on release or at any point in the future? A game like this would work SO nicely with VR. You'd be able to control the engine with your hands and have to work with slack, etc, I think it would be AMAZING! But I know it can be difficult.
this was already answered in the steam forums "If we have some success, we maybe could look into doing a VR version down the road. I would even say we would like too." from the dev right off the post

@@railroader looking forward to being able to operate CTC. Here in Brazil we had the CTC houses today all deactivated. This video was where we can get an idea of what it was like. The older friend was controlling and explained how it works.

Looking really great. Thank you for the hard work and for show-casing the progress. Coming from a non-US railroading perspective, I'm not sure that I understand the use of fusées to stop an AI engineer at a station. Would a CTC-worked signal not be a better solution?
Certainly, Sometimes however you need them to stop in the middle of a signal block (between two signals)

Still, there is nothing from DTG about multilayer in trainsim world. Like they said there would be in the first game.

Please make this available for Playstation, all we have is Train Sim World and some random European games and we really need some variety.
Trust me we would love too, but porting to a console is a super expensive prospect. With the game's success, maybe one day we can look into it.

Yes, there is a sandbox mode.
Workshop support is planned, but that is far in the future.

A great game that embodies several mechanics that I would like to see! But, unfortunately, my knowledge of the English language is not enough for a comfortable game. If the authors are interested, I can help with the translation of the game into Ukrainian. I know railway terminology quite well, which will enable me to make a fairly high-quality translation.
