- Toby Kvalevog and Chris Whitney head out on Leech Lake to chase muskies during the peak of summer for our 5th episode of the season! With today's advancements in sonar technology, Toby and Chris discuss forward facing sonar as it's a hot topic right now. With muskies as the target, these guys set the hook on some absolute giant bonus walleyes. As a matter of fact, both Toby and Chris think one of them was the biggest they have ever seen themselves caught!

I sure like to catch a fish, but this takes the fun out of fishing for me. I certainly understand that guide wants to perform for his client tho :)
Great video and thoughts on the subject! Thanks!
This is exactly the type of video I love! Toby is a good all around guide and knows Muskies. He gave me his favorite bucktail for leech - it’s a special bucktail for sure!! Good guy.
You missed a major nugget of info with regards to the PMTT ban. The guys that won the tournament had 7 livescope units on their boat. A little different than what you were doing in this video.
I fished the tournament and have photos of their setup.
Live scopes will kill fishing
Awesome video! Your channel seems really cool! Just subbed too👍
Very interesting video! I have the technology and don’t use it a lot. This application is definitely worth playing around with. Thanks for the video!
Honestly FFS is way less a threat to fisheries than invasive species. But chances are mostly anglers are inadvertently spreading those as they compete from lake to lake.
Great video. Makes me want to try muskies again. 😅
Where can I find that pedestal seat bucket? Can’t wait to get my forward facing!
Took a while to get to this video but I have to say it was one of the better episodes I've seen. Great information, great fish and excellent points regarding FFS. Thanks for putting this series out guys!
What brand of trolling motor are you running with your Lowrance on your Pro-V
I had a snap come open on one of the biggest Muskies I’ve ever hooked. I had it all the way to the boat and it opened its yap so wide that I could see the spinner bait way back in its throat. Gave a giant head shake, went down, and pulled the bait off the leader. It makes me sick to my stomach to this day just thinking about it. A mid 50” musky which I’m sure died. Total heartbreak.
That why your "Disgruntled "
😂😂
@@whitetail229I’m disgruntled for other reasons. That Muskie is why I drink heavily 😂😂😂 I was 17 when that happened. I’m now 54 and I still think about it and it still breaks my heart.
@DisgruntledUSA I hear ya ,bud
I'm the same way with musky as I am with archery hunting. Adrenaline rush beyond imagination! Hope you've stuck a big fish since then. Good luck
Just incredible!
Well last week sucked. Only found a few fish in weeds. Lots of Northern’s and 2 mag walleyes
I recently purchased a livescope...no shot I'm driving around all day looking for fish tho. It's super fun to jig with and to see follows long before they get to the boat. It's also a great tool to see how deep your baits are running.
Trolling and watching the baits is pretty interesting
@@whitetail229 Yeah, I've seen fish shoot uo and follow for a minute or more and not eat. It's also really helpful with setting your running depth.
@@jpangling6019 definitely helps set depths
I can’t wait to see all of the comments on this..........
50 year old guy....NOT super impressed with this technique.
Technology is here to stay....doesn't look like these guys are fishing much.
Yeah, pretty lame. Yay technology. smh
That is not fishing imo
We respect your opinion. Thanks for sharing.
People said that about trolling motors, fishfinders, side and down imaging, etc. It’s just another tool.
So are gill nets.
that was one comment. you can waste time on a fish that won't bite which i know crappie fishing in the winter sitting on fish that just don't want to eat. i have dangled a bluegill off my dock in front of a musky sitting there and he did not want it can't force them to eat
i think this is horrible for muskie
live scope needs to be banned
The fabled fish of 10,000 casts has now become the fish of 10 casts. Forward facing sonar sucks.
forward facing sonar is for cowards.
