Sublime musica,orquestaydirector.
How one regrets the passing of these 'pedal to the metal' conductors. Fabulous.
Gran director svetlanov
The red fan on the conductor's stand is an old type of fan,
Some producers were bothered by the considerable motor noise during quiet song recordings.
When attempts were made to provide newer, quieter sounding ones, Svetlanov stubbornly refused to listen.
In his last years, when conducting Mahler's Fifth Symphony in Japan, the compromise offered instead of using a fan was a break after the first movement to sit in a chair and let the sweat settle.
In a video from that time, the maestro can be recognised sitting like a bronze statue.

Yes, n° 4, not n° 1
1-я симфония - лучше. В ней больше жизни и мелодий. А 4-я - чувствуется приближение смерти, которая победила в 6-й.
Comparable to Koussevizky.
