I used this heaps, especially immediately after I put people back into half guard if they mount me. It works a lot and I hadn't seen it online before this. Thanks for some extra pointers to hit this more consistently!

Seems like this is based on how close their hips are with the half guard lock down.
Need to hold their hips on top of yours.
I guess that is critical for almost all sweeps... 😏
Coach Tom doesn’t this leave you wide open to tripod pass to mount?

White belt here. I’m looking to see if I can find a video showing the sweep I just made up. This is similar to it, but we arrived at the half guard from an elbow escape. He had a neck hug on the same side I escaped, trying to pull my head away from that side to prevent it. I managed to get it out anyway and before he could change his hands, I made my head heavy, inside leg bridges, outside leg steps on his calf and forces his knee underneath, outside arm “combed the hair” for the arm trap, inside arm reaches toward the sweep as I extend my shoulders away from my legs, robbing him of base. We’re white belts with about 3 years of online training and this was a complete accident, so it’s possible this is a dumb move but it felt effortless for me and he couldn’t seem to stop me no matter how many times we tried it.
Is this the same as a John Wayne sweep?
