I think there were about 600 locos. More were registered but some I know were discouraged by gas prices to get there.

How fast can these live steam models actually go at full/top speed?

The rules for this place limit trains to a top speed of 7 miles an hour. If you read there rules and regs for being a member it says all the rules

Sure. One branch of the track goes a long way north, takes about 5-6 hours for a complete run. That one is a blast at night.
