Awww thank you so much! Those seasonal phonological awareness games are what I wish I'd had when I first started teaching. It would've made such a difference!

My school division moved to a phonological and phonemic awareness focus for our young learners a couple of years ago and I have noticed a difference in my kindergarten students. Your video reiterates what we are doing in the classroom. Thank you for the helpful and informative videos.

I'm so glad your school is moving in the right direction and that PA is helping! I wish I knew about the importance of PA when I first started teaching back in 2007. I know it would've made a difference for my students!

The way you show us how to use these principals make it possible and kind of easier.

Thank you so much for this informative and helpful video! I know you said we should begin introducing the printed letters to make the connection to the speech sounds earlier for students, but how do you usually know when to begin adding it in the classroom without overwhelming them? Thank you!

That's a great question! What grade do you teach?
If you're teaching preschool or pre-k, I think it's okay to do more oral-only phonological & phonemic awareness, since many of your students might not have their letter sounds mastered.
If you're teaching kindergarten, you'll want to start bringing in letters sooner rather than later, even if it's just by modeling.

Teaching phonemic awareness is a little intimidating to some of us that are teaching at home. Thank you for making it much easier to understand.

This is a very helpful video. Thank you for explaining it so well. Are you going to create more phonological awareness worksheets?

    • @littleslovelearning

I'm so glad it was helpful! Yes, I'll be creating one pack of games for each theme I teach, which will be 20 themes + holidays.

Thk u! overwhelmed but convinced and excited? Do you have a resource that acts as a roadmap for monthly lesson planning?

    • @littleslovelearning
      @littleslovelearning  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I know it can feel overwhelming, but just take baby steps and you'll get where you want to go!
I teach through themes, so I follow my order of themes (which you can see at littleslovelearning.com/themes if you're interested!)
Then I layer on my literacy lessons (alphabet introduction and high-frequency words if applicable) with those themes.
I'll be creating a set of phonological awareness games (like I shared in the video) for each theme I teach. That way, I can use these games along with my theme.
The other thing to keep in mind is every class is different, so it's important to use assessments and progress monitoring tools to make sure you're focusing on areas they need to grow (and not focusing on areas they've already mastered).

This video is very helpful. I am going to incorporate more of all these awareness ideas to better help my students be able to read better as they approach kindergarten.
