Hello, my new friend - it's amazing the power that music has to help us heal. I haven't served, but my husband was an RCAF AME officer and firefighter, and all who serve, at any level, your selflessness humbles me to the core. My husband died very unexpectedly in his sleep in 2015, just two weeks after our son's first birthday. Two weeks later, we lost our home and were out on the streets. I have been trapped in this chasm of agony, loneliness, terror, confusion, and helplessness for nearly a decade now, trying to keep that all under wraps so my son, who is now 9, does not know Mama has been barely making it day-to-day. Somehow, my boy is a happy, loving, considerate, and protective little man, the one who makes sure everyone has a friend. This past 9 months, after Peter Hollens led me to Tim Foust, and Tim Foust led me to Home Free, I have felt myself coming back to life. The darkness is receding, and I am for the first time in a long time seeing the future in a positive light. I have listened to a lot of music these past years, but never has a group reached into my soul, lifted it so gently, and told me not to give up, to see the joy and humour in life. I wish there was a way I could tell them just what they have done for me, the darkness they gave me the strength to keep at bay. Such angels, every one of them - except Adam, of course, we all know he's a mage at heart and in disguise. ❤
Adam hits those notes up there in the upper atmosphere. He has a high range anyway, and he's been taking vocal coaching to improve. And he just seems to be having way too much fun in this one.
Adam usually arranges his own percussion with some input from the arranger, so he put himself through the paces here. He actually does a surprising amount of little harmony bits here and there on a lot of songs. If there's no percussion (and sometimes even when there is), listen for really high harmony bits. That's often him. His vocal range, according to him, is "higher than Rob, but lower than Austin". Of course, if you throw in his beatboxing techniques he actually has the widest range of all the Home Free members. He's just crazy talented. I say talented, but honestly, this is the result of 20+ years of hard work.
Look for their new song. They just dropped it on August 19, 2022. Check out the video on Adam Rupp's vocal range. It's pretty incredible. If you haven't seen his live drum solo yet, there are two or three out there. Even if you've seen one, you can see his improvement if you watch the later ones. He learned this on his own in order to start this group 22 years ago. In the behind the scenes video that shows us his home, he shows the first book he got to learn how to beat box.
Let me tell you right now out of all the Home Free songs and covers this one is my all-time number one favorite.. oh my God Adam Rupp is just sick on his beatboxing good God this man is unbelievable.. when it comes to the breakdown that super high pitch note you hear that is mr. Adam Rupp doing that. I Love Home Free so much they are my Boys 💞🍷💞🏡🆓🏡🍟 every single high high-pitch note you hear is Mister Adam Rupp himself.. oh my gosh I love him such a talented young man..
Even though Tim has a 5+ octave singing range, and Chance has a 4+ range I believe....I think Adam has the widest tonal range of all of them if you consider his high whistle notes and his low lip rolls.....amazing range.
Adam's a BEAST!!! 🔥 All our guys kicked a$$... but Adam took this to the stratosphere with those high tones, the 70's drum sounds, the scratching, etc!!! Wow! 😳 I love the Doobie Brothers. I love Home Free. I have always loved this song. HF made me love it even more! 😍
This is simply excellent again!! I have been a fan of the Doobie Brothers for a long time. This song is just timeless. It still swings. Really something for Home Free. So great sung, so great harmonies, bone-feeling bass, But for me it's Adam who makes it truly phenomenal. He nailed it. The vocal percussion is just inhumane. So unbelievably good. For me the very best beatboxer/vocal percussionist/mouth artist there is. And the vocal he plays like that high note, I think it shows that he must have a great singing voice. And I haven't even mentioned his appearance yet. He's so handsome. I do like that he has his hair a bit longer again and then with that bandana on.
Most people thought that was Rob but if you watch that was Adam but if you look at them the only one not doing the oooohs was Adam and he wasn't beat boxing. I wouldn't be surprised if Adam had arranged it or at least collaborated on the arrangemnt.
I don't understand how Adam is so skinny, I mean he has eaten a full drum kit, a Moog synth, floor toms, turntable plus the a vinyl record to scratch. I mean, come on man, he should be as big as a music studio! 🙃🙂🙃
I was really looking forward to your reaction to this one!😊 This is the 50th anniversary of this fantastic song & Home Free made it a "golden anniversary" for sure! The Doobie Brothers made it a hit but Home Free set it on 🔥& gave it an amazing new life without instruments! All the guys were incredible (to say the least) but I'm absolutely in love with Adam (a "mature" girl can dream too)!💘 He's adorable even making weird beat box faces! I can't count how many times I've already watched this video & I'll never get tired of it! 🎶😊
Home Free kicked ass again!!! The Doobie Brothers had guitars, drums, keyboards and other instruments to make this iconic song. HF only had Adam and their own vocal talents to make it a classic once again 50 years later. Our boys NEVER disappoint! Love all the new sounds Adam added. He seemed to be having so much fun in this video and am sure glad to see the bandanas are back.
This is a triumph for sure. Good lord. Austin's voice soars so strong he could knock drones out of the sky. Tim's bass is insanely beautiful. Rob and Chance's harmonies were as rich and tasty as a Thanksgiving dinner. And Adam. He beat boxed the hell out of this song. He's always adding new and creative elements to his repertoire. He's never better than when he has the opportunity to flex his creative muscles. He pretty much has free reign with the percussion. Some songs call for more traditional and restrained percussion, but when Adam get the chance to cut loose, it's his skills at their best. If you've ever seen Adam's drum solos, he goes from way low bass drop to a high pitched "squeal". He has a more impressive voice than people realize. Thanks for the great reaction.
Adam's using the high pitched vocals that he uses in his recent drum solos and I absolutely love it! Turn him loose with a looper and you never know what he's going to come up with. So brilliant.
arrangements are Usually Darren Rust if you want to hear how good Darren is at singing check out his band The Blenders and specifically One Last Song then when you have time check out their 30th Anniversary Documentary by the same title One Last Song: one last time it's great they didn't shy away from the stuff they went through over 30 yrs the line up changes how 2 groups ended up as 1 and what they do now
I grew up on classic rock & am a big fan of the Doobie Brothers & had their albums. "Listen To The Music" was a big hit for them back in 1972. Love that Home Free is keeping this great music alive & introducing it to the younger generation. The guys did a really nice job of this song. Austin was great for the lead & loved the background harmonies of Rob, Chance & Tim's bass. Adam killed it on the vocal percussion again. He always comes up with some new & interesting sounds. You are right Adam is doing the high notes as you can see in the slowed down section.
Usually Darren Rust does their arrangements on most of home free songs And it's usually just the 4 guys said he does the arrangement and then he just chose Adam after everything's going to arrange do what you're gonna do Then Adam does his magic
The next video is scheduled to be released this Friday and the video concept is all Adam Rupp's idea. HF has been teasing it on Instagram with a couple posts. It looks like Home Free is going into VoicePlay's lane with full makeup and costumes. Adam Rupp's updated solos have him harmonizing with himself using a loop station. Definitely worth a look and hear.
I wish Adam was comfortable taking lead because he has a naturally beautiful tenor and definitely has some fantastic range. I would love to hear a song where he took a bigger lead than that tiny solo in How Great Thou Art.
I came to the comments to ask a question about Adam and How Great Thou Art. There’s a section in HGTA with a beautiful clear high voice that I assumed was Austin until I realized that Austin was singing lead in that part. I came to the conclusion that it must have been Adam but has anyone else caught that and can confirm that’s what was happening?
@@carolburnett2926 I think you're right Carol especially after hearing him do the high note in Listen to the Music (I wondered myself) but unfortunately they don't show him enough like they do in Listen to the Music. I think he's getting a little more comfortable doing some vocals other than harmonizing and I'm hoping to see him take a lead when he's not needed to beat box.
Home Free took this classic rock song and made it into a new classic rock song. Every one of the guys seemed to step out of their comfort zone and created a whole new level of what is possible with the human vocal chords.
I swear this was like a video where someone is trying out for a position, and they have to provide a sampler of everything in their repertoire. It's an audio resume. He forgot to toss in some castanets but covered most everything else.....LOL! This is now one of my favorite songs by Home Free. I love a lot of the Doobie Brothers music, even though they're a little before my time. To say they did this one justice is a gross understament!!!
Thanks for an amazing review. I would never have caught on to it being Adam. Also, I hope all the work you're doing brings you benefit. You deserve it. Thank you for your service.
No matter which song of their you listen to, it's allways a upgrade in vocals, harmonies and percussion. You should try some of their older songs, like "Everything will be okay", "Any ways the wind blows" & "Crazy life", they are all just top nudge, and severe under reacted to. Adam can sing as high as Austin, and has a throatbass, that matches Tim's. Imo, he has the widest range, but are way underrated in that apartment. And his percussion skills are of a whole level apart frome anybody else. Whithout Adam, HF would loose a major part of what they are, and I'm glad, that the rest of the group really vallue his skills, and what he gives to the whole. No wonder they call him "The heartbeat off the group".
Adam use to arrange most of their songs , if you remember the Ice castle video . Thats was Adam Rupp's arrangements. Not sure but he may still do a lot of the arrangements
Yes, Adam hits the high pitch tone, but he doesn't drop down into Tim's bass. Tim owns the bass line solely on his own. Adam is a tenor, when singing a 5-part harmony with the guys, or inserting high notes with his beatboxing.
All of them sound impressive but Adam Rupp completely owns this song!! I swear, there's no sound that man can't figure out a way to create! :O Love this one so much!!!
There are videos of Adam Rupp beatboxing and in the live video "9-5 beatboxing breakdown" they allll beatbox. I know you don't like Christmas music but in Austin's original "Cold Hard Cash" Adam makes this weird little giggly sound at the end that I just love (if there's a name for it, I dunno what it is!).
Yeah I don't think Adam Rupp was pushed or was @ his limit @ at ALL! He was obliviously having fun.. LOL...I kinda thought he showed off a bit in a good way... (like I got this..hold my beer)

Adam is an alien -- that's how he does it!

Home Free cannot be beaten, as you said they are truly phenomenal 🙌 👏 ❤️

The reaction to their new song comes out next Thursday.
I've been saying Adam outdid himself on this one. He is the one that sets Home Free above all others.
Home Free should do more classic rock covers. They are so good at them.
The guys were definitely feeling their Cheerios doing this.😄
Let me tell you right now out of all the Home Free songs and covers this one is my all-time number one favorite.. oh my God Adam Rupp is just sick on his beatboxing good God this man is unbelievable.. when it comes to the breakdown that super high pitch note you hear that is mr. Kudos to all the guys but WHOA Adam!!!!! Adam is blowing me away HOME FREE did a great job of modernizing this 1972 DOOBIE BROTHERS classic song.
Austin and Adam Rupp kills this video. Harmonies are amazing.❤️
Even though Tim has a 5+ octave singing range, and Chance has a 4+ range I believe....I think Adam has the widest tonal range of all of them if you consider his high whistle notes and his low lip rolls.....amazing range.
This is my favorite right now 🔥🔥🔥 Adam was going crazy 🤪 😍😍 great reaction ❤️
From what I have heard Tim say, Adam is always in control of the beatboxing. The arranger does the voices, but not the percussion
Adam's a BEAST!!! 🔥
All our guys kicked a$$... but Adam took this to the stratosphere with those high tones, the 70's drum sounds, the scratching, etc!!! Wow! 😳 I love the Doobie Brothers. I love Home Free. I have always loved this song. HF made me love it even more! 😍

Adam is freaking gorgeous and his beat boxing really gets me excited. I'm a dusty old fossil, but I ain't dead. Doesn't hurt anything to look.
Home Free kicked ass again!!! The Doobie Brothers had guitars, drums, keyboards and other instruments to make this iconic song. Yes, that explains pretty well what they do! I have a fav, until their next release. Adam is a real wonder! Great reaction to these guys!!

Um, yeah... THAT!!! I'm running out of words to describe how phenomenal these guys are! I'm going to buy a thesaurus. Maybe will help 🤷♀️

Adam is a force! He’s amazing and I loved Tim’s lows too. Goodness, this was good. Loved your reactions PD! 🥰

Clapping along and left feeling a vibration going through me at the stop........
Please more😋
So glad you reacted to this one. Home Free's talent and creativity knows no bounds!
Take care❤❤❤
Musical Magicians
When you hear those pure, angelic, high tones that sound like bells from Heaven, it is Adam Rupp.
They killed it!!! Awesome, fantastic, great. It's 🔥🔥🔥 I don't know how Adam any of this, so I just set back & enjoy.
I swear this was like a video where someone is trying out for a position, and they have to provide a sampler of everything in their repertoire. It's an audio resume. Those bass drops are Tim, you can tell by watching his "bass hand" drop with the note. Always a great give away
Made me smile and dance 50 years ago. Still makes me smile and (chair)dance. What a great rendition of this classic.
Thanks for an amazing review. I would never have caught on to it being Adam. Also, I hope all the work you're doing brings you benefit. You deserve it. Thank you for your service.

The singing is awsome but Adam is out of this world. Love Home Free.
Thank you for reacting!
This is straight up FIRE with extra gasoline thrown on! ♥️😄🤯🍟🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rob leads the chorus of "Listen to the music" and "all the time"
Adam use to arrange most of their songs , if you remember the Ice castle video . Thats was Adam Rupp's arrangements. Not sure but he may still do a lot of the arrangements

Actually, Chance owns a good part of the bass-baritone range too.
He was the bass singer in Streetcorner Symphony, his previous group.
What with all the layering in production, it's hard to tell who's doing what 'cause they're all so freaking talented and versatile. lol
All of them sound impressive but Adam Rupp completely owns this song!! I swear, there's no sound that man can't figure out a way to create! :O Love this one so much!!!

I enjoyed this. Thank you ^_^
Hi From England 🇬🇧
Darren Rust may have done the arrangement. I've read a couple of comments that allude to that but haven't seen any confirmation.
WOW
Yeah I don't think Adam Rupp was pushed or was @ his limit @ at ALL! He was obliviously having fun.. LOL...I kinda thought he showed off a bit in a good way... (like I got this..hold my beer)
I have actually seem commenter get upset when these guys switch parts. A fun ride.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He doesn't drop to Tims base
