    What a treat. I have been watching them since I was 3 years old. I enjoy all of it. Even the ice crunching around the ships. Thank you so much!

    Thank you for this, I love watching what we usually don’t get to see..the Paul R Tregurtha is my second fave ship, the James R Barker being first (it’s all about the horns)😊 I hope you weren’t too cold filming and you went to Grandma’s for something hot after! I was there in August (from TX) and the change is just humbling ☃️💨

      It is probably the prettiest ship along with the Sykes. I pray it has a positive future and we can again see arrivals and departures! departures.

      I just can't imagine how many times I saw Ryerson, Sykes, Big Joe and others while working at Inland Steel during my college years. It was always a treat. Working there had a large part in forming me as the engineer I am today. Great learning, great memories, and the first hand experience of seeing the worlds most expensive rat trap....priceless!

    Delayed question. Will someone be on that ship. Or tie down go home weeks ? Lots of repairs?

      I would assume since she's at the Shipyard she will need alil work but if not she will have a ship keeper for the Winter

    What is the reason that certain ships overwinter in certain yards?

    • @kellycampy8272
      @kellycampy8272  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Depends what woek they need and whose the best and cheapest!

    What is the name of the grey ship sitting there?

    Hi, does the freezing ice around the ship bend the hull?

    • @mattharper588
      @mattharper588 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No the ice does not effect the hull but they do put bubbler hoses around the stern to prevent ice from forming around the propellers because ice will damage them

  • @susancrisman8540

    I know nothing. 😂Was the function of the tugs to break up the ice for the ship?

    • @kellycampy8272
      @kellycampy8272  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, they break it up and try and sweep it from the dock

  • @michaellina4440
    @michaellina4440 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What about the ice between side of boat and the dock? Do they somehow get rid of i

    • @kellycampy8272
      @kellycampy8272  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I posted a video 5 days ago called Tugboat Missouri sweeps dock for Indiana Harbor. This video will give you an idea how they do it. They will do right between the dock and ship and do this maneuver
