    90hours per week means 18hours per day so left with 6 hours.. so when to sleep, eat, bath, fresh n up, spending time with family???     Just to give a historical perspective on work hours during the Industrial Revolution the highest the average working hours ever in the history of the USA was 68 hours a week in the 1850’s. Trying to get people to work 80 or 90 hours a week is ridiculous and reduces efficiency.

    Can interviewers or the media seek clarity on their stance by asking: Are these companies planning to compensate employees for every extra hour worked beyond the typical 40-45 hours per week?
    Or is their intention to redefine "normal" working hours to an absurd 90 hours, exploiting workers under the guise of increased productivity?
    Role of governments and public policy:
    Can governments, which are supposed to represent "of the people, by the people, for the people," step in to curb this growing corporate exploitation?
    Strong regulatory actions are necessary to prevent such exploitative practices from taking root and spreading further.

    There is client , consultant, contractor , where as L & T and Infosys were belong to contractors ,In EPC contracts all 3 where do homework else they will not finish contract since rules are internationally accepted you can not deviate from baseline schedule (initial terms and conditions) , where as in measurable contract only contractors work more, client and consultant go on changing terms and condition there is no baseline schedule as per law, only big contractors make money because they could able to finish jobs in measurable contract mode with in time and budget making labours to work more even 18 hours a day paying only 8 hours . India should adopt EPC mode of contracts there every body need work hard so contractor alone no need to spend more time in work. only contract mode to be changed.

    Govt should jump in and set hard limit on the number of working hours. Else companies will try to exploit the citizens badly. Govt have following advantages if working hours are limited.
    - Companies will have to hire more people. So that more employment is generated.
    - It is good to secure the health and wellbeing of the people.
    People should start to make these joker CEOs as troll material so that the companies feel ashamed and kick them out of their position as it will impact the reputation. Also when brand value is impacted they will find hard to find the employees unless they shell out more.

    Are we really developing by doing longer work hours. The work is important for bread and butter. For entrepreneurs and C suite executive get paid exorbitantly and may be motivated to work for more hours. However lower and middle mgmt people are paid just to meet two ends meet.     He's wrong in saying that employees should work as hard as founders/CEOs etc. Long hours are only applicable to those at the top.
    But that said, more folks should take up entrepreneurship and work super hard and build generational wealth rather than seeking to work for someone else. Other Asian countries have a rich entrepreneurial culture and are far ahead of india

    I think the L&T Chairman has lost his mental balance just like Narain Murthy did when the latter suggested for 70 hours a week work culture. In fact Narain Murthy should be ashamed that his Company Infosys is the biggest exploiter of its workforce especially the workforce. For almost 10 years, inspite of almost Two fold inflation, their salaries have been increased by a bare minimum percentage. Already a couple of employees of so called big four have died due to work pressure during the last 6 months.
