I agree about Corey writing a book, it's a bad idea. You gotta be passionate to do it and he should just stick with what's he been successful doing for decades, raising fish and utube videos lol
I am soo looking forward to more guppy content from you! Especially if you begin a selective breeding project. I have tried looking for guppy breeding projects others have documented and there isn’t a lot. One of the main reasons I started my channel. It is an attempt to record my breeding progress but also to learn and attempt to teach the genetics I learn along the way.
Guppies have the best personality. So much fun in a small package. I owe a ton of my guppy breeding success to the Zoo Med Nano Banquet Food Blocks. It makes my water nice and hard. Pure guppy magic.
I restarted in the hobby almost 6 years ago. I latched onto your channel, along with Rachel O Leary and the Prime Time Aquatics folks. You were all experienced, down to earth, mature fish keepers, and I learned (successfully) how to best keep my fish and plants. Even with a recent move, my fish, snails and plants are all thriving. I followed your guidance and am very happy that I did. I really enjoyed your deep dive into guppies. I have a small guppy colony and you made me fall in love with them all over again!
I make a good bit of money from my guppies...! I have quite a few strains, but my mixed 'fancy' guppies are the best sellers...! I think there are at least 30 tanks with guppies and I'm about to add 8 more ten gallons... Thanks for sharing...! Keep up your awesomeness and go enjoy some nature today...! Also, don't forget to compliment someone today. It just may change their day for the better...
I'll never forget the 1st time I looked into the tank & saw the guppy fry. It was so cool. I named the babies & it really sucked when I saw one get eaten by it's own parents. Eventually I got used to it. Now, the ones who survive the gauntlet are very special. My 80 gallon has gone from a cichlid to guppy tank. Now the babies have endless hideouts & I have tons of fry ...Guppies Rule!!
I like big guppies too but bigger isn't always better. I kinda dislike when people suggest that bigger guppies are healthier guppies. Smaller guppies actually live healthier longer lives. Guppies aren't meant to be huge if you look at wild strains. It's like larger dog breeds, they don't live as long as some of the smaller breeds.
I started breeding guppies and endlers this spring in (separate) heavily planted container ponds. I tried to source them from a variety of shops, leaning most heavily on dumbo ear guppies. My intention is to breed hearty fish and kind of just part them out for traits or colors I enjoy along the way. I live in the Dallas, TX area so mild winter but extreme summer. The containers are about 20g. They thrived even when the air temp was in the 100s for weeks and I'm going to have them in a greenhouse set up for colder temps. Most of my losses have been 48 hrs after they are added to the pond, but luckily it's been only a few. Hopefully a year down the road I'll have some interesting looking and super strong fish.
Just got my guppies delivery from Twin City. Loved how each was individually bagged for their journey. All looked healthy and hopefully they survive the shipping stress.
I had a line of t.sunrise /black mascows I made that I lost in year 4/5 and I was so upset I didn’t have guppy’s for a while . Well I was getting plants yesterday and there was a very beautiful female tequila sunrise in there planted 400 tank and I thought no way there going to let me buy it. They remembered me from bringing in rainbows and they gave me the guppy! I’m back in the guppy gang baby! After less then 24hrs I can’t believe how much I missed having guppys. Just this one guppy in my 29 gallon shrimp tank is awesome! Guppy gang!
I ADORE guppies. I have many of them. I have Planned Parenthood going on again for them for now, lol. Amazing fish. They have taught me so much about themselves. Some of my females get as big as Bettas.
I have very soft well water, slightly acidic. I’d really like to have guppies in a nano tank. How much crushed coral and other amendments do I need to start? As a kid in the 70s I was in Colorado with hard water. I raised them in a 1 gallon pickle jar, marbles on the bottom,no heater in a rather cold house and they thrived. I would also like to start keeping them in small decorative ponds outdoors on my porch in southeastern NC zone 8B. I may need to use a small heater in winter.
My guppies are cool-water guppies. Mine do not like warmish water. I keep my house temp at about 68-70 degrees with no heaters in any of my tanks. My guppies are doing well with this and have been doing well for years. USA
I have always loved guppies especially with young children. They get to see live birth. Plus guppies are relatively forgiving for an inexperienced person
I'm 60 yrs. old and a guppy geek! I have full gold, Dumbo purple mosaic, blue Moscow, and green dragons. I also keep Betta's. My Purple mosaic are large the mother is 2 1/2 in. I have a question why don't you sell fish online?
It's taking me a while to find my love for guppies. I'm sure I'll get there but not just today I guess, um, yeah could we switch to another Livebearer?
@@AquariumCoopAt The Wet Spot in Portland they had some a year ago I'll never forget. They were as long as my middle finger and fatter than my thumb. They were pregnant which made them look bigger, but I had to grab an employee and make sure they weren't mollies or something. Nope. Female guppies raised in a pond. They were kind of ugly, with a gray/silver front and pale black tail.
I remember growing up with guppies some 20-30 years ago and they were nearly indestructible ( fancies to common ) and thats without the tech advancements and knowledge we have today. Can you please address the phenomena of shortened life spans, pre-mature deaths Ive noticed within the recent past to date?
I currently do that in a 55 gallon. Very fine foam cut to the dimensions of the tank. I use two pieces. I don't have to, but I originally had the tank split in thirds, and then decided to do 1/3 and 2/3's on the other side, so I just used the second piece I had cut. On the left side I have a breeding pair of Panda Angelfish and a breeding pair of Bristlenose Plecos. On the right side of the tank I raise all the Angelfish fry. Works well. Sometimes I have to adjust the foam if it leans one way of the other, but overall it suits my needs.
I hope you stick to the guppies, would love to see some videos. You seem to know a lot about the subject. In the past you build a fish room, then you take it down pretty quickly and you move on to something else.
I hate it to crash someone's party, but how can you like something human modified, especially when it comes to animals? Guppy males can't swim in a straight line, even if they tried, same goes to non-wild betas. These fishes are modified because of commerce, you are the first who bred the biggest, the most colorful or with specified colors and behaviors, you make the most money. I can understand, if you are 12 went into a pet shop and buy the flashy fishes, without a clue what you are doing. Then ending up with live bearers who replicate themselves monthly. I know a grandma who inherited from her man a big tank with mollies, who are now reached 300+ fishes. I know, Guppies are easy money, easy to bread and hardened through a century of breading in tap water, but try to be a bit more special, more educated, create a biotope and focus on 1-2 species who you can also find in the wild. That's nature, everything else is a glass bowl with fishes.
I use endos in my outside pond, dog pool, rain collection barrels for mosquito control. I kept some in a 35gal tank. Added a male, fancy guppy to the endos in a 125gal pond and a 2 trios into the 35gal. The morphology is crazy, I cull from the 35 into a 55gal tank. From there I cull the more endo leaning males and occasional a random net catch of smalls into Prometheus' 75 gal tank. Prometheus is a 8 inch Regular Oscar. I added a new trios to the 35 gal tank energy 6 months. Will start doing that to the 75gal next month. Some of my females are as big as the female sword tails i recently purchased and added to the pond.
I've got so many guppies... To keep it from getting to be Deliverance level of crazy, I rotate stock in & out. Love guppies, just finished setting up a 29 gallon planted guppy/platy tank and loving it
Love the dumbo ear guppies with the dark blue dumbo “ears” and bright red tails.

Fish mania is in the town where I live!! I love them so much! I’m hoping to start keeping guppies soon so please keep posting about them!
I've got a group of cobra guppies unheated in my fishroom. Tank temp swings between 65-75 throughout the year, and they breed just fine.

I really like the idea of cool water guppies. I'm now going to see how cold I can get them, maybe I can create year round pond guppies here in Canada😂

Yeah, my first black Moscow was a HUGE mama! I ultimately retired her to the neighbor's pond after she gave a few, good groups.
Both live streams watched you guys do so much and it’s very much appreciated 😊 thanks again
Wish I could have nerded out live but you have made Monday at work a lot more enjoyable.
I would love to keep guppies, but I have very soft water, 30TDS. Me keeping them goes against what Cory once said, “don’t fight your water.
Just starting a 20 gal tank after a long hiatus from this hobby. I love live bearers. Suggestions on the number for this tank? Males vs females?

Come hangout with the Chicagoland Livebearer association. We got some cool people to hang out with man. 😂 just a quick drive lol.
I have the Stan shubel green deltas.🤘
Cory talked about giant guppy I went to my local fish store and saw females atleast four or five inches big I have never seen them so big!!!
Sounds huge. Have to see to believe.
