This was a WILD experience! What a trip. Hahaha
Nicole, you and I have found some very interesting ways to "strengthen" our relationship. But this was by far one of my favorite/least favorite! Haha

I have that same love/hate of the challenges we’ve faced together, but that’s life! And we are stronger for it.

Hey guys! Paramedic here. You’re getting info that you’d never be able to get in a hospital setting in the US, which is really cool. If you have any additional questions about emergency first aid etc. I’d be happy to attempt to answer. I’m sure there’s plenty other watchers could add as well. If you haven’t yet, a fun exercise that’ll def save your life is simmering were drill in TCCC, pretend you have an arterial bleed and you’ve got 60 seconds to apply a tourniquet to yourself before critical, unrecoverable blood loss. It’s a lot more challenging than you think, especially if it’s one of your arms that’s bleeding.

I can almost guarantee that if the situation were to arise, and Nicole had to give Dan a shot she would put on her big girl panties and be tough enough to do it……. she might break down later, but that’s OK.

This was a good video, and really funny in places. It's good to have a sense of humor even as you are learning serious things. My favorite moment was Nicole's look of dark pleasure when she said putting a needle in Dan gave her a sense of power :)

Nicole you reminded me of me before my diagnosis! The fear is valid this is an unnatural thing to do and your brain realizes this. I was more nervous that Daniel was going to blow out your vein, cause that’s more painful than being jabbed

bones dont have pain receptors so you wont feel stuff touching bone, but the pain you get is tissue near the bones that have pain receptors and they feel the pain not the bones.

I usually like what you put out. This time around, I have to find fault with all the GIGGLING during what should be a very serious subject. It would have been a huge addition a cruisers knowledge base.

If you're inserting an Emergency Intravenous Line then the problem becomes making a solid useful insertion with no infiltration then taping that connection to stabilize said connection.

I have 10 of those collapsible 5 gallon jugs for extra water when im on a mooring ball....they are easy to haul in a dinghy abd easier to put in the tank than those bigass plastic jugs

I pray Nicole does not have to give dan any of the shots on the challenge , although in a emergency situation I would think she would act differently. The point of this was to learn how, n I'm more of a hands on type of person so the fact the Dr was going to be there for them to see how the 1st time is with supervision is the best.

  • @captainsalty9022

Went to EMT school before my Pacific cruise. Thankfully, never needed to use what I learned. Things are done differently in Latin America and injections are often your responsibility. Strong pain killers, anti-biotic drugs, parasite medicines, muscle relaxers are available in pharmacies there. Get some of this and put it in a dedicated and labeled med kit.

I've been stuck with very many needles, I've worked with needles in a laboratory setting and I've even given injections a number of times but I still find it hard to watch. I hope you don't have to resort to them.

I was hoping this would be a serious video about preparing for the event of injury and or illness when out at sea. A well loaded First Aid and Medical kit is essential. Most important though is knowing how to use it and what to look out for during any injury treatment. Taking a First Responder , CPR and other associated courses are absolutely critical to survival. There's alot more to treating injury at sea than poking a couple needles in your's or someone else's arm.

Why are women able to act like this, but if a guy showed ¼ of how she acts, he would never hear the end of it? It is a tiny little needle. Could never even come close to the pain of a bee sting. And she KNOWS this. We all have fears of different things. That doesn't mean we get to avoid those things.

Nicole why is your boyfriend’s hair like that? Extremely odd looking…not flattering at all. If he’s trying to have a Viking, punk, or any kind of cool look then he’s got it embarrassingly wrong.
