Another great video Clams! I love nontraditional proteins (land and sea). Growing up in SoCal with an English Grandmother in the house, I lived for the Grunion Runs at the beach. My Grandma would make her adapted version of Stargazy Pie with our Grunion. You would have dug-it!
@@CookingWithClams The Grunion swim into to the shore line to lay eggs and fertilize. Females bury themselves head up and lay eggs while the males surround them and spooge all over them. I left California in 82 for school and never went back, but Grunion Runs were a big deal to my brother and me as kids. We lived directly across the street from LaJolla Shores and would ride bikes as far as Mission Beach to the south and straight up the beach to DelMar (conditions allowing). I don’t remember there being a bag limit on Grunion when we were kids but apparently there is. It’s thousands, hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of fish. Many swim away and many don’t. It is quite the sight to see! Are you familiar with Stargazy Pie?
@@CookingWithClams My grandmother also paid my brother and me to pick snails out of the IcePlant and keep them alive in cornmeal so she could make escargot. The going rate in the late 60’s early 70’s was $.05 per usable snail. We charged $.25 per snail if she wanted us to eat them. 😂
Great video Will! I’ve said it before so I will say it again, I love that Colville Bay Oysters shirt. I really liked the look of your plate, simple yet extremely delicious, great colour. Thanks for sharing!!!
Nice li sound summer mixed bag. Im digging all the fried chicken commentary, these folks know the deal. It really is good luck to have some form of it on the boat (fried, cutlet, etc…).
What a beautiful plating presentation. I'm not fond of raw fish but I do believe you when you say its delicious because it dang looks delicious! Thanks for another great video Will!
Probably going to steal the aji amarillo sauce.....the boss loves it on chicken! The jarred sauce is a bit muted. 🙁 Found a place near Pentagon City that does yellowtail fish collars on peppers and onions......very tasty! Have a good week!
Great video Will keep them coming my go to sandwich when I’m fishing I love a Mike’s jersey subs number eight or number nine when I was commercial fishing. I really loved the fried spam sandwich.
Porgy and black sea bass are two of the fish I got to eat when I commercial fished. Both are great eating. My go to food for fishing is fried chicken. Best part of fried chicken is that the bones are killer bait for grouper. Red grouper in particular are all over fried chicken bones. In Key West it was often a Cuban mix from the bakery which is long gone now :(::: . It makes me so sad when I think of all the old time Key West that’s gone.
Damn Brother I didn’t know you had so much Ink, too cool! BTW I don’t know if you like Sea Bass but they are one of my favorites and most underrated fish!
Will, you live in Key West (paradise on earth) and yet you come back north soo much. I know you have your restaurant and all but let your employees handle things or at least I would.
@@CookingWithClams that’s kewl at least you have two great places to go to and you get to see your mom more. Wherever it is I enjoy your adventures and cooking.
Hi Will I was wondering if you could give me your honest opinion of Lola's Bistro in Key West my husband and I were looking at going there next season and it had mixed reviews some looked really good others looked terrible so I figured let's ask a chef.
So I think they’re great…. On the right night. The issue is that they change the menu nightly. Or at least were. So one night to the next was drastically different. Hence the mixed reviews. But when they’re on, it’s fantastic.
thanks will i knew you were the guy to ask. when it comes to good food that's where we will always splurge:) and were always trying to find the best meal in kw. The non set menu is like the lamp to my moth i think the person who once said" Variety is the very spice of life that gives it all its flavor." knew what they were talking about. Thanks again@@CookingWithClams
WoW,,, looks good...! I'm gonna tell you my flounder secret weapon... use raw hide dog chew treats... soak in water and let it soften... this bait works...! TNX 4 VID LOL
I lost the first half of my message. That has to be the fanciest porgyive ever seen. I have Always scaled and fried them. You have to check out sorrento's in long beach for their italian hero , Hands down the best on the island
I made this yellow sauce and I put it in my chicken burger and my catfish burger which it brings the perfect little heat. Thanks again.
Oh nice!!
What no chopsticks? Taku must be shaking his head! Great video! I’m hungry for sushi at 530 in the morning!
I’m stocked up now! Haha every time I look for them at my moms there are none and I forget to buy some.
Like always great content! I see the channel growing good job!
We’re getting there! So thankful for everyone that watches and shares

I had to look up that fish! So on the grunion run they wash up on shore??

Scup are always a tasty treat imo
I absolutely love them
Well done, Will. That looks soooo good. I bet the smoked sea salt really made it
It rounded the dish out nicely!
Thanks for taking me fishing. Haven’t been on the James Joseph in more than a decade !!
We need to go again!
Pepperoni sticks on hot dog buns with maybe a little sweet and spicy mustard are our fishing snacks! Lol
Whoa! Haven’t heard that one but I’m down!
Fishing boat snack. Vienna sausages and Pringles don't leave the dock without em...
Bold haha

I love a lot of south and Central American cooking for that reason. The colors are explosive

Haha in KW we always have fried chicken. In ny it’s always the Italian sub
Hey it's snow let's jump to Spring 🌱. Great video. Looks delicious 😋. Keep filming we'll keep watching.
If only I could do that in real life!
What a beautiful plating presentation. I'm not fond of raw fish but I do believe you when you say its delicious because it dang looks delicious! Thanks for another great video Will!
It really depends, it took me a while to not only enjoy but crave fish raw. At first I didn’t care for it
Probably going to steal the aji amarillo sauce.....the boss loves it on chicken! The jarred sauce is a bit muted. 🙁 Found a place near Pentagon City that does yellowtail fish collars on peppers and onions......very tasty! Have a good week!
This was very citrusy so not quite an aji Amarillo in the traditional sense but super tasty
Once again you've shown me the way! Thx!
Heck yeah
Oh man that looked delicious, as usual . Thanks Will
It was really bright. I think porgy was the perfect fish for it
That looked good, I'll have to try it with mutton snapper.
That’ll work! I’d even do skin on and char it
My go to food stuff on a party/charter boat is pack of brew. 😂😮
Ha! Now we’re talking
So unexpected to see you in the Snow!😂
Trust me, to me too!

While cleaning fish in key west we’ve definitely found chicken wings! Too funny

I think BSB is in my top three fish. It’s so sweet and firm. Rosie’s are similar
Looks awesome. Where did you get the covered cutting board??????
Covered? The green one?
Love your vids by the way I’m in Charlotte, N.C. and love the keys. You and Aaron make a great team for you tube viewers!!

Yo!
Whats side is down or up on the ice
I’m not sure I understand
@CookingWithClams some times it has to do with what side of the fish sat down on the ice. So more blood would pool on that side.
Sea bass, striped bass and black fish are all great sashimi fyi
Yes they are

A lot more to it than that

you ate bluefish sushi? anything on it?
Just soy sauce, it was incredible

Pressed Cuban from 7-11 or Publix.
I’m loving that this is a common answer
Egg salad sandwich!
Solid choice!
👍👍
👌👌
Grouper salad sliders on my boat
But what about when you’re out fishing for the grouper to make the sliders??
If I’m out of grouper salad, I like Dot’s pretzels with hummus
WoW,,, looks good...!

I like watching your videos but this one it was not a cooking video like what you have on your videos 😂
Just the fish was raw. Which I’ve done a few times on the channel
And its always been fried chicken
Nice!
