I found what I thought to be the perfect Volcano start, embarked, and realized the embark parked my wagon on the rim of the volcano and it promptly fell in along with four dwarves.
@@soothingsloth maybe spend some time in legends mode before you decide to delete a world. You may be deleting a 1 in a million world every single time. If you don't play in them, you will never know.
@@EmperorSmith that’s a good point. Honestly I’m gonna experiment more with small sized worlds. I find there isn’t much of a variance with medium to huge size worlds at least in the first couple hundred years

Get Perfect world, its a tool usable for the old and premium edition that lets you craft your own landmass and everything, You only have to export the generation paramater you create into DF
@@soothingsloth This is much like that, it wont directly alter the game itself by modding it, it just uses its own code to bypass the DF one. I've always been bugging about my own worlds man, untill i started using perfect world, it lets ya do the things normal world gen doesnt allow, like mountains directly next to a sea. By litteraly allowing you to paint mountains. The tool is less complicated then DF world generation advanced paramaters, but a bit more complicated then therapist. Im confident though any dwarf fortress player can figure it out. My only tip for using the tool, dont fuck with volcanism map paramaters, just type 200/200 volcanos if you want that many in the normal map paramaters.
@@TheEpicKomrads it's weird. To an extent I just enjoy making worlds and checking them out in legends to see it's story. A couple nights ago I spent like 2 hours doing this lol. Might have to drop a "Chill Lofi beats for building DF Worlds" video.

Its alot better than when you gen a world, play some forts on it, then realize the world is missing something really important. Or you want to add a mod but cant unless you regen.
I weep for all those life forms who were deleted because their maker didnt like the arbitrary look of their world :c tbh tho, set it to medium everything (including resources)except 250 years and just roll with it.
@@soothingsloth scale your embark down to 3x3 and land somewhere totally flat with a light aquifer. you can click a box to check for terrain changes. then you can just worry about digging
@@LondosMondo For my most recent world I actually did scale down to 3x3, was going well and then my dwarven children began getting drone striked by giant flying larakeets (there may be a video about that soon lol).

I spend ages to make a perfect world I foresee playing many fortresses in, only to play 1 fortress and create a new world for the next one

Have they not added a search section to the map gen? In old Dwarf Fortress, it was rare that I needed to regenerate a new map because they were huge.
Yes, their is a search function.
Admittedly if you are looking for a specific feature, it’s really annoying to gen multiple worlds to find it.

Yea I've finally accepted that I can't be too picky with worlds, but my embark location is a whole other can of worms haha.
