This is the BEST video for this type of removal! WOW you helped me 100% to make up my mine to remove and replace the intake manifold for my mom's jeep. Mom just got back from the Jeep Dealers Garage. They said she needs the intake manifold fold replaced? I've never heard of that the intake manifold going?? Has anyone heard of that? They said it was going to cost her just over $900.00 to replace parts and labor ! I told her I would go to the auto wreckers and take one out and replace it myself, this video changed my mind to even attempt to do it. So I told mom to get the estimate and find somewhere cheaper to do it. So she did and they wanted $540.. parts and labor. Those dealers are such a rip off! But seriously is even possible for the intake manifold to go?

Just a tip, before starting jon. Pull fuel pump fuse and start car a couple of times so you can relieve the pressure in gas line

      @phillippardo5712 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't believe there is a fuel pump fuse for this vehicle. The Haynes manual tells you to take off the back seat and disconnect the fuel pump manually.

I actually just took the gas cap off. I think that relieved the pressure.

Thanks so much for the video man, definitely helpful for us DIY guys.
I'm the original owner of an '09 Sebring 2.4L, with over 262k on my car, it might be time for me to do this. Oh and you're throttle body replacement video is great as well, doing that tomorrow while corona virus has me on lockdown 😆

    Thanks!
Its really hard to find videos about jeep compass engines. Thanks for being brave doing it yourself and sharing! There were just safety issues that should have been taken in consideration. But overall, thanks for the hard work!

jeep compass manifold are impossible to find there are over 2000 on back order for the manifold, and iv been waitinf 6 months now, they keep moving the month forward, i have been driving with a cracked intake manifold for 5 months im getting worried it might damage something

If you take that manifold off you need to replace the gasket otherwise it will leak its not meant to be reused although it may look ok Its not expensive so dont risk it Its not worth it to do all that work over again

I need to take off my intake manifold exactly for that reason it’s leaking air.

Gotta love those tabbed connectors 🤦🏻‍♂️ I can't tell you how many pigtails I've spliced because the clips break when you remove them! It made me quick with soldering though! I learned the NASA method of doing it. If it's good enough for space, it's good enough for me!

Love the video.... my wife has a 2016 jeep compass latitude 2.4 I've changed every gasket except the head and intake manifold about to do the manifold hers has the 6f24 automatic transmission I serviced it.. it was a pain so I replaced the transmission hoses with 200 psi clear hoses so if I wanna check the fluid to see if its good( as far as color) I just look at the hoses😂😂

Did you have to put any sealant when you had to reinstall it back . I had one put on my Dodge Caliber and it’s still leaking oil into the intake manifold.

Do you need to prime the fuel rail before you try starting the car? Or just let her rip and let the air work it’s way out?

please help. i have a 2011 jeep compass 2.4 with the cvt trans. the car was running rough at times, no codes. after a couple months had a code that said throttle body was bad. i replaced the throttle body and check engine light went out and the car ran great. after a couple days the car started running rough again but no check engine light. note: when i replaced the throttle body i noticed some liquid in the intake. i thought it was fuel and just soaked it up with a rag. could there be a leak somewhere? can coolant get into the intake? could it need a intake gasket or something? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you replace the runner control valve? And I recently got the suggestion to replace the whole intake manifold too. So yea these engines are special. The CVT Transmission is a pain as well. Wont do another cvt again. Whines too much

    • @irbin70

If you cant take it out with the valve cover on then you gotta replace the whole valve cover. Its sealed from the inside right where the PCV is.

From what i could tell, you did a few unnecessary steps. I was able to squeeze the intake manifold by just pushing the wiring harness up a bit lmao

theres a backorder of 5 month on intake manifolds mine is cracked, i went to my mechanic and he quoted me 900 for the manifold and 120 to labour, cost, he ordered it from damier christler so i figured id call and order one, so the price was 425$ and my mechanic price was 900$ i figured mechanics get better rates hmm? well now i know where not to go , my mechanic was going to pocket 500$ and he made it look like he was the nice guy and we both ordered it from the same company wich has a 5 month back order,. now if you go on ebay they sell them new for 150$ it dosnt need to be the exact code as long as it fits with the car you specified
