Great video. This is the best explanation of attributes I've found on TH-cam. Thanks man!

2 starting rangers max cha means rapid advance in levels. The four remaining rangers can be removed from the squad and rejoin which catches them up to the two advanced rangers level.

    Two things to note....
    1. There are a lot of encounters in the game that you will not be able to start combat on due to a conversation starting. This can and will happen even if you are out of the discovery range and use a sniper to hit the enemy or a rocket launcher. As soon as you take that action the conversation starts and ultimately you have to fight but the enemy gets the first action. This is where initiative comes in. It has helped me out a lot in some fights.
    2. For Charisma here is one thing you can do. When you first start the game and have your first duo, set both to max charisma and take as many skills as you can for the skill checks during the intro. If you can hit enough skill checks you should be able to get a few levels before you are able to finish making your group. Once you get to the base and can recruit your second duo, dump the first one and create 4 new characters. These characters will start at the same level as the original 2 and should be able to get at least one extra stat point for creation and may have unlocked their first perk point. This can make it a lot easier when creating the four person team you will use for the rest of the game. Also if you remove the gear from the first duo before you dump em you will have the extra gear for your new team.

For the first point, it's very true, there are encounters where they wanted you to be at a disadvantage and after dialog they take the first turn. Mostly I was trying to gild a new player's expectation for combat, because a lot of people get frustrated with the combat because of how... I'll say, obtuse the initiative system is for first timers.
      2. I have been planning a high CHR run and these tips will really help when I start a new campaign. Thanks for the info!

Something important to keep in mind that I didn’t hear you mention about CHR. Similarly to STR, you don’t want it to be below a certain breakpoint. Your base strike rate is 6% and each point into CHR adds 2% to that (so, 8% since you always have at least 1 CHR).
That means, you’ll always want at least 2 points in CHR to make your strike rate 10%. And then you can see the other breakpoints with just basic math. Personally, I never build below 7 CHR, just because charging your Strike in 5 shots is just to good.

That's very true. For a more advanced guide later I'll mention it. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm creating a google doc of things I need to mention later. Mostly making these things because no one seems to be updating wikis or trying too hard to help new players get into the game. And as a huge fan of the genre, I feel like it's a crime this thing is not getting more positive mentions anywhere. And again, thanks for the comment!

If it were not for the bugs and glitches this has to be one of the most fun games I have played all year. I started a game with maxed out charisma and wish I had this guide before I started , but my rumbling wreck of a team is rounding the corner. Your choices in missions have real outcomes lol

@@kirkmason1333 The latest patch apparently fix a lot of stability issues, but I agree. Some of the freezes and glitches have stopped my progress at points. But for the most part, I'm loving this game.

Gotta say I feel like luck on late game feels quite strong for smg, given that with end weapons you can have the pwd one, do 3 attacks with max AP, so if you have the aoe strike rate ability, you can double shoot whoever the big guy is and then do the aoe blast, which just melts everything. Did it on skorpitron and it took a good 40%+ off him without it having extra robot dmg. I still gotta say I wish I had known on first playthrough how bad intelligence was compared to how strong it was in Wasteland 2 where it counted for each level, not like here where you get 5 skill points in total.

I'll keep note of that as I get further. I'm going to do more advanced builds and gameplay notes later. I'm going to start experimenting with all the strike abilities and weapons as I do deeper dives into builds later. Thanks for the comment!

so basically there is no point of putting in intelligence,, everybody gets +3 from 1-10, then what's the point?! You don't get +5 points on skills or ever get to 5 points no matter what INT you have. Am I understanding wrong?!
