- Today is the 69th bday of Disneyland “Happiest place on earth. On this Day, July 17,1955 is the first day that Disneyland was officially opened for the public. On Disneyland's opening day, July 17, 1955, Walt Disney gave a memorable dedication speech. Here is the dedication in full:
“To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future.
