We arrived at Ngwenya Lodge, the gateway to Kruger National Park, at 8:40 pm. We're back for a second stay and love it here. The lodge sits by the Crocodile River, facing the park, and we'll be here for two weeks. Our unit has two bedrooms and a loft with beds, like having three bedrooms. The spacious patio has a grill and overlooks the river. Despite our travel fatigue, I want to show you around.
Our unit boasts a large living room connected to a basic-equipped kitchen. At 9:30 pm, people use lights to spot animals on the river. We'll explore during the day due to tiredness. Mornings grant us breathtaking views of the Crocodile River and Kruger Park. Some days we'll venture into the park, others we'll watch animals from here.
Our morning tea spot is the patio, a nature lover's paradise. We even filmed fighting hippos in the river, exciting Viraaj. In the past, we saw 100 elephants, rhinos, and hippos. This is our first day, and we're shopping for two weeks' worth of groceries. While the lodge has a store, we'll visit Komatipoort for more variety.
Post-grocery shopping, we have lunch on the patio, soaking in the scenery. We check lookout points for animals crossing the river. Evening sunsets by the river are best viewed here. Despite being self-catering, the lodge has a restaurant. Families will love the property's birds and kid-friendly amenities.
Back at our unit, a gorgeous sunset unfolds. Tomorrow, we'll enter the park. Before sleeping, I discovered a snake inside. With no phone and closed reception, we dialed the emergency number. A snake catcher swiftly removed it, kickstarting our wild adventure. That's today's update. Next, we'll take you on our safari journey.
