AJ makes these resort food tours relaxing and exciting at the same time! Love Port Orleans - We just stayed there 2 weeks ago and loved it! See our Magnolia Bend Mansion Tour if you want to see what the rooms look like! Have a wonderful week AJ and DFB!

AJ is right, every single meal I’ve had at Boatwrights is better than the last. The Prime Rib and Crawfish Bisque are the best things on the menu. I would recommend an earlier dining time since it will be less crowded and the service will be better overall

AJ! How could you forget to mention boat access to Disney Springs? Staying at French Quarter in December and will be boating over to Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming on arrival day. How’s that for surrounding yourself with southern comfort before braving a week of Disney Parks? Lol

Stayed at the French Quarter resort for a night earlier this month for birthday celebration -- we thoroughly enjoyed the beignets , the po' boys, and the shrimp and grits...the folks behind the counter make as much as possible to order and everything we tried (snacks and brunch) was very good. We also snagged a last minute dinner reservation to "Be Our Guest" so we had a very good -- very french - food experience for this trip.

My husband and I stayed at Port Orleans - Riverside for my birthday this past May. It was a quick, last minute trip but we loved it so much! After the parks our first night we got dropped off at French Quarter to go into Sassagoula's and buy some beignets. YUM! Then we walked along the river back to our room in Riverside. We can't wait to stay here again!

I love Muddy Rivers Pool Bar! Even when we don't stay at that resort, we always go over for a couple of drinks, great atmosphere! As far as Boatwright's goes, we have hated and loved it. Right now they have airline chicken and dumplings that are fantastic!

My husband and I love, love, love Riverside. This is such a beautiful peaceful hotel, we love that we can take a boat to Disney Springs, and easily walk over to French Quarter if we want for food. I also love their bus system/stops it works so well. Another thing worth mentioning is that which ever hotel you are staying at out of these two you can use the others pool if you want as well. And I agree with you AJ love Boatwrights I had an amazing steak when we went my husband had the fish, we were both really happy and the staff was very nice and had no problem with substitutions.

My husband and I are DVC members, and we usually stay at Saratoga Springs when we are in Orlando. We love to take the boat ride from Disney Springs to the Riverside Mill Food Court for the turkey dinner. Delicious, and be sure to bring along your refillable mugs.

I've commented before on my love of Boatwrights! I go every trip now. God, it's a hidden gem in terms of its delicious Southern menu. I am such a fan of the jambalaya. They also have Abita beer on draft, and the Purple Haze is awesome. Thank you for showing it in such a positive light. I hope more people have good experiences like us.

We went to Boatwright's in May and again in July. It was amazing both times. We had the etouffee, the prime rib, and the fried chicken biscuit. They were all fantastic. Great, great flavor and AMAZING wait staff. The charcuterie board was definitely worth getting. The French Onion Soup is absolutely to die for. It is the best French Onion Soup we have ever had and is definitely the best French Onion Soup on property. We highly recommend visiting Boatwright's if you are staying at Port Orleans.
It was our favorite table service experience. On our trip we ate at Be Our Guest, Boma: Flavors of Africa, The Coral Reef, Boatwright's, and Liberty Tree Tavern for reference.

    • @Nimeariel

Yes, the food is to die for!! I can attest to the burgers being amazing!! That one she showed in the video (Bayou Burger) is prime rib chunks on top of a burger, smothered in beer cheese sauce and topped with housemade sweet pickles on a hamburger bun. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!! The prime rib just melted in my mouth and the sauce was delicious!! And I'm not a "pickle on a burger" person, but these actually complimented it quite nicely!!
And you are right- the resort is pretty quiet! It's serene and peaceful and just gorgeous! Everything is very well decorated and dare I say, understated, but in a good, subtle way. Nothing sticks out like a sore thumb or screams in your face LOOK AT ME I'M A RIVERSIDE RESORT!!! like the All Stars and Pop sort of do (not saying they are badly decorated, but, they are very over-the-top). It's exactly like you are actually there, and it's the real deal- not a fake, themed resort. And if you stand over the river on the bridge, you might just spot what we think was an otter flipping along the water one morning!!

You are not the only one that liked it. I loved this restaurant. I ordered more food than I could eat just to try different things. The fried green tomatoes were to die for and the sauce that came with them really made the dish. The red beans and rice was about what I expected, nothing spectacular with those. However, we shared the pork chop dinner and it was excellent as well, but it doesn't look like they have that anymore.

I dragged my boyfriend and he loved it! Disney is perfect for couples as Disney has something for everyone. I would recommend staying in Port Orleans French Quarter as its a more chilled and less child like resort. Plus you can get on the boat and travel to Disney Springs which has so many adult style and romantic restaurants. if your boyfriend likes sports they are about to open a giant sports bar so I'm sure that would keep him happy.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in May, it is such a beautiful resort - truly feels like home. We made good use of The Riverside Mill which had a pretty decent options for Vegetarians. We didn’t bother with Boatwrights, just seemed pretty meh and dead most of the time! I only wish we had spent more time hanging at the pool/Muddy Rivers. Next time we’ll be heading over to French Quarter to sample some of those Mickey beignets, they just look too good to pass up!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE POFQ - one of my favorite places to stay on property, regardless of price point. And if not staying there, I try to get on property at least once a visit to enjoy a walk around and soak in the gorgeously tehemed grounds and buildings, have a muffuletta and some beighets, and enjoy a beautiful boat ride to DS. I VERY much miss Bonfamille's that used to be the sit down restaurant there, especially their killer black skillet breakfasts. I also miss the much more fun theming of the old food court, before the refurb, loved all the Mardi Gras masks. The food court at POR is great - large, lots of room. The whole resort is so richly themed, but the aesthetic of POFQ just appeals to me so much more.

Just stayed at Riverside in July. Even though we didn't have dinner reservations, the hostess at Boatwright's was still able to get us a table that night. The food and service was excellent and no one had any complaints. Drats! Totally missed the beignets over at Port Orleans though. We had rented a car (wife had to go to a conference at the Beach and Yacht club resort - faster to drive herself to the conference than to take Disney transportation to Epcot and then another bus to the Beach&Yacht club), and was totally happy to learn we were able to park our car right next to our room. (Today you have to pay to park your car, but we reserved the resort the last day before they started charging for parking.) The kids loved the pool and slide on Ol' Man Island.

Yayy POR!! My family stayed there in February 2016 and had the best time! It was our first time to WDW and we loved staying there. We went to Boatwright’s twice that week and I had the jambalaya both times and it was delicious! Nothing like a yummy meal and a glass of wine after a long day in the parks! Yeehaw Bob really was a fun surprise for us because we didn’t know a ton about our resort going in. AJ didn’t mention the boat access to Disney springs which really was key in our meal planning and just made the evenings so nice! Also our last night there we did heavy appetizers and drinks at river roost and then headed over to the food court and actually ordered a whole pizza to go so that was kind of fun! It wasn’t the best pizza we’ve ever had but it was nice to just relax in our room on our last night after a longggg (but fun) 6 days in the parks lol

Port Orleans Riverside was the very first resort I ever stayed at, on my very first trip, way back in 2006. I fell instantly in love with PO, both Riverside and French Quarter, and have stayed 2 more times since (FQ), including just last month! Though AK is my home away from home and my ultimate favorite at WDW, I always make it a point to visit Port Orleans every trip for the food. This video was GREAT, and just made me miss that beignet sundae even more. Sadly, last month, I missed out on those boozy ones.

We Love Boatwrights have only had one bad meal there out of the dozen or so visits and it was the because of the 10oz strip steak was 9oz of grizzle and the pork chop was overcooked. Crawfish mac is my weakness!

I really need to stop watching this videos when I'm already hungry! Thanks for this AJ, we're heading to WDW for the first time in April, staying at POR. Really looking forward to all of it and hope to walk over to FQ to have a look around and sample some of their food too. I really hope the boozy beignets are still on the menu then :) - Not that I've ever had the chance to try a regular one either!

Just stayed at the Riverside and it was amazing! We couldn’t fault it: great freshly cooked food (we had the Disney meal plan) and the surroundings are breath taking 😍😍

We stayed in November of last year. (Port Orleans River Side) Breakfast was the only meal we had at the food court and it was hit or miss. Scrambled eggs which are fairly difficult to mess up were o.k. sometimes.. Sometimes they were dry and sometimes they were slimy. The pancakes were good along with the waffles and the make your own yogurt parfait are really good choices.
Don't miss this food hack: their chocolate chip cookies with ice-cream.. Great big YUM!

I find the build your own omelet is best. All fresh ingredients and cooked to order. However, the fried potatoes are a big miss. No matter how early you get there, they are cold, greasy and oversalted.

Unfortunately, all the breakfasts across Disney resorts (and parks) are pretty much the same options, no matter where you go. Some places might have a FEW "specialty" breakfast items, but otherwise you'll find your standards, which are just that- standard. Which is why unless it's a fairly cheap buffet restaurant (Crystal Palace, for example) or one of those "specialty menu items" restaurants (Trattoria al Forno), I don't recommend breakfasts for character meals (Chef Mickey's) or reserved sit-down meals (Be Our Guest or Cinderella's Royal Table), because they are all the same. Save your money, eat at the resort you're staying at, or find a snack in the parks like a cinnamon bun or something.

I like Boatwrights. It's not a destination for us, but when we stay at Riverside we eat there. It's pretty good. As someone from Mobile, AL, it's nothing special. There are plenty of places at home that make the same kind of food. But, it's all been well done when we went.

AJ, please let me add my vote to Boatwrights. We always stay at Riverside going back to the Dixie Landings days and we ALWAYS have at least one dinner at Boatwrights. We ate there last October and had a fabulous dinner, great service and got a classic picture of my (then) 2 year old Granddaughter's face after demolishing her chocolate cake. Some of it actually got to her stomach. The menu changes and I miss the Pot Roast there from 10 years ago, but the corn bread and all the entrees were terrific!!

I had the best pecan crusted catfish at boatwrights several years ago. Then when we returned it was no longer on the menu. I mentioned this to our server and he went and checked with the chef who remembered the recipe and made it for me special and then came out to check how I liked it. I thought that was awesome of them and something I will never forget. Also, in case you guys don’t know, if you like something, ask them for the recipes. 9 out of 10 times they have a recipe printout ready to go!
