Nah it’s not the yard owner that is at fault, it’s the location, same car in Aus rust in all the usual places but they don’t get anywhere near as bad as Japan or America
@@CruisinCaprice it partly is the owners fault, I've known a few of these hoarder types with dozens of "unfinished projects" sitting around in their yards. Every year the cars condition gets worse and every year the owner refuses to sell. That goes on for sometimes decades untill the owner passes away and whats left of the cars are sold to scrappers as scrap metal. You have to remember that even in Okinawa this doesn't happen overnight, it's just the owners not wanting to let go of their cars but also never getting around to actually fix and take care of them.
You have no fking idea what you are talking about. These cars were abondened in a different time when they were dirt cheap. Back then if you crashed like many of them were or just had a lot of rust it was easier to sell the car as scrap and buy another one.

Let's not forget most of these where parked back when these where being sold like paper clips, and no one probably thought this was going to be the aftermath. I just want to know the stories though, especial that S13 with 5th anniversary metal plate on the radiator support
@Leandro3065PT That just gave me a business idea, because I would also ask if I could pull parts to sell as art pieces people could have in their homes. Parts like that metal plat to an entire side panel with the team name from the 80's on the side, fade and full of patina but made to look nice and be safe, as you wouldn't want a rusty car part falling and hitting you in the head. But also give a back story on the piece as well.
I would love to see you part out some of those cars and really dig in and see what is savable like engine blocks transmissions, and obviously the glass
USA and europe has more JDM cars then Japan, Im pretty sure 8/10 have been exported and 10/10 will be exported because the new gen of Japanese kids dont care so no point moving there just to see cars that wont be there in the next decade.
The crazy truth around this is that it gets expensive to keep older cars on the road in Japan. Here in Australia after our ten year rules for imports we were buying our dream cars at very low cost. Can only expect lower grade cars would have zero value in Japan at that time.
Sam, I feel your pain that pisses me off that they just left those cars to die. I wish they would at least part them out now that they’re chassis are too far gone. At least the engines and transmissions and interiors can live on other project cars to help them get finished and on the road 🤙🏻 it hurts my heart 💔🥲
Sam, it would be really cool if you could get one of the RB26s out of one of those GTRs and put it in your four-door Skyline. Give it new life and let that heart live on in your chassis.
Sammit great vid always enjoy the exploration vids 👍 but its such a shame all those priceless nostalgic JDM legends are just sitting rusting and rotting away 😢
I picked up my FC in January last year, it had been sitting in storage since 2001. I took the car back to bare metal expecting to find some hidden rust, I think all up I found two small spots of spider rust and the rest was super straight. Glad it’s nothing like Okinawa here in NZ or this FC would be long dead. SAVE THE FCS!
0:50 reminds me of Ireland but with sun.. 21:30 anything on an island or lives within a k of the coast. Especially if it's not taken care of (washing, scratches or dents being left, kept outside etc) I remember being in a van on Tory Island once that resembeled lots of the v rusty but still intact stuff there.. apparently it was clean when they brought it over 4 or 5 years earlier.. but it lived a hard few yrs, often parked litterally on the harbour dock and I saw ropes from the boats stacked on the roof one time 😅
Wow Sam that rust it's the worst I've ever seen cars like that .... I'm from the uk right on the most East Point near the sea and there still no way as bad as that infact no way near 😮 I'm shocked to see all them beautiful dream cars disintegrating like that
These cars remind me of those movie scenes where one dude is trying to revive his friend and the other guy is like “He’s gone man, let him go”. They’re gone man. I would love to make a cool photobook to document them, but they are dead.
After digging into Japanese history a bit in the 80s to 90s it’s not surprising there’s so much of this with the economy at the time there was a lot of excess. Not to mention tuning company’s having a massive hand in it as well. Such a shame tho
Aussie Sam you have to be careful there venomous snakes 🐍 and if you get bit once you can take the antidote but if you get bit again you’ll die. Continues to dig lol😂
Rip to all of these cars and I feel your pain Sam but unfortunately since you are right there witnessing it all I don't quite feel the pain but dam that sux that there just sitting there rotting away to dust 😭😭😭😭
That rust is crazy. I'm guessing it is because being a small island it gets the sea winds from all sides. I'm surprised it isn't even close to that here in Auckland. Maybe different winds or something.
I'm not really shocked at this at all. These cars back in there day were practically economony or cheap tuner performance cars. If you look at the condition of running examples of today, a lot of them they are literally shitboxes. The supra in the bush is a good example. It's a 1990s cheap performance car, almost 50,000 of them were made and you can bet 90% of that number are low spec shitboxes. The only cars that really stand out here are the GTRs because those cost an absolute fortune back in their day, and most likely only wound up here because it would have been cheaper to buy another used one than fix a bent frame.
Respect from Austin Texas ✊🏼. And #fc3sforlife . That blue was a nice color . That one made me sad 💯. And don’t give up your day job brotha , singing ain’t you 😂🍻
Its sad to see but they have proberbly been parked there before anyone realised they would be worth so much especially in the UK or USA market but what a great place you got to visit mate
Japan machine development in the 1980s and 1990s very rare models were processed aluminum with metal. To make stainless steel. Japan very rarely has a model anywhere else in the world in the country. The rest of the models were assembled by pure metal construction machines in Japan. Calculate 40 years passed, 30 years popular models Nissan Toyota Mitsubishi Honda Mazda other models for ordinary metal structures Corrosion rusted very quickly.... I know Japan is mechi that restores good old cars for sports. The only reason is it rusts a lot. Japanese machines do not process all parts after assembly. There were problems with the anti-corrosion deficiency of the primer. The cars look good on the outside, but unfortunately they are rusting on the inside. In rare models, the owners of passports process the internal structure of their anti-corrosion agents.
Cars rust really bad up in the Shetland Islands. Saw a 2014 Ford Ranger a couple of weeks ago when I was there. The whole side had rusted out of it. My parents 2018 honda jazz had rust starting on the sills and doors
im still surprised nobody goes there to take all the valuable wheels and engines/parts/seats etc outta things and lets it all go at once, like the yards must be watched by people 24/7 but even they arent pulling engines especially is crazy
The s5 fc from 89-92 has the circle lights that you like the s4 tails were very different. S5 also had color matched trim and a line in the trim on the bottom instead of the middle like the s4 trim had a line in the middle
Japan has got to change its laws on these abandoned cars man. If you don't have the paperwork, you can't do anything about it. It is such a shame to see these cars rusting and we can do nothing about it. If I had the money I would buy cars that are savable and make a Frankenstein car
Finally some cars i can afford 😅
Sam sounds like he’s genuinely pissed at the yard owner at times, honestly I don’t blame him.
