One of the best bases for MMA is either not having kids, or being a deadbeat dad like Jones, because being around kids is scientifically proven to lower your Testosterone levels and reduce aggression. Any time you see a fighter hanging out with their kids fight week there's a much greater chance they'll lose, when I saw Sergei Pavlovich playing with his kid on Embedded I knew Aspinall was winning that fight.The best training camps are done in isolation away from family where you can just switch on an animal mentality and be a savage, not playing with babies. Guys like Khabib and Islam know this and its why they always stayed away from home to train and fight.

The best current base for MMA is growing up as a fan of professional wrestling, fighters such as Daniel Cormier, Colby Covington and Chael Sonnen all share this trait.

fun fact: Islam Makhachev, Umar Nurmagomedov and Usman Nurmagomedov all started with taekwondo. It's is a fantastic base for flexibility and good kicking technique if you can add wresting and grappling later on. That's probably why Islam always had very good left high kick and Umar is throwing wild shit out there

You have a point. But why is it that so many kid martial artists quit when they become adults? I've always wondered that. In fact i could ask the same about kids who played sports growing up. I've noticed most stop in adulthood, or switch to the gym or something. Why exactly is that?

Dagestan is a current Russian state. The Russians took it from the Persians in the first part of the 19th century. It's a mountain region that's incredibly ethnically diverse where everyone has been fighting each other for a 2000 years whem they weren't fighting invading Persians, Arabs, Seljuk Turks, Mongols, Timurids and finally the Russians. It's actually a pretty nuts place.
