9:12 I’ve witnessed the whole “people joked about it but then it happened” thing in my own sport. At the downhill bike park I ride at there is also a zip line course down the mountain, and one platform is stood right next to a mountain bike trail, and off the side there is a 10-11 foot drop to a steep shale bank. For years people looked at it and said “I’m sure someone could do that, but it sure as hell isn’t going to be me,” and then a 17 year old who lives near there finally did it on the last day of the season. A huge group of people were there and by the end of the afternoon 7 or 8 people had done it, and two people had done tricks on it (including the guy who did it first). That was a great thing to witness, but definitely not on this level.

I used to work pretty closely with Dom whilst filming one of the dance groups he used to run with (yes, this was during his "party" phase but I can't vouch for that as I was still underage).
He had time for everyone that came to watch the group perform, especially the younger kids/teens, doing flips and other tricks and generally brightening up wherever we were. My cousin was doing the choreo for the group and Dom was one of our biggest hits with the crowd. I didn't know much about his backstory, but from my experience he was always a really good bloke to me - even came to one of my birthday parties and backflipped in a garage with a 2.4m/8ft ceiling whilst being an impromptu backup dancer for a mutual friend who was performing.
Have been keeping tabs on him ever since (even with 0 knowledge of freerunning) but never knew just how important and influential he became in his field. Gotta say it makes me proud to see someone I used to be pretty close to doing so well, especially with the backstory you've told. Great video, sub earned.

Such great story telling. You made me shed a tear or two at the end, because it really hit home. I am still feeling kinda lost and I'm pretty unsure about what to pursue in the future. Hearing this success story, with the background gave me inspiration and hope that I will find my passion!
Massive thanks and my deepest respect towards Dom.🙏🏻
