I feel like these companies are just flooding the markets too quickly. Like they have to hurry and beat the other guy. New controllers or VST bundles every year? I sold most of my midi controllers and old analog gear so I could afford to buy Komplete Ultimate and an FL Key 37 last year! My wallet won't recover until at least Komplete 18.
As someone with Komplete Ultimate 13, I'm not paying $500 CAD to upgrade. There are plenty of other plugin libraries that will give me more for half the price like Musio (if it's still on sale). If you don't have Komplete and are looking to buy then I still think it's too expensive, although you are getting high quality VSTS. I do still love NI, but I think they are getting too expensive.
Bro thank you for this in depth review! I was curious, could you add your cameras in your description? I appreciate everything you already list equipment wise but we might get your more affiliate monies with your cameras too!
I am really suprised how similar both the arturia stuff and UAD's volt stuff is in terms of apperance. I personally like that wood sides its always a nice boutique feel with the wood side panels. I guess this was more common when wood was used in the past. The first gear I ever got with wood panel was the access virus that has a nice cherry wood. UAD is more of a beigey cream though arturias stuff is full on cream. They look very nice. I am going to need to be super convinced to get a keyboard/synth IMO if it combined some FPGA chips for processing arturias plugins more likely to get it as I already have multiple midi keyboards. Still people seem to like and collect controllers. Much lower on my list to get another keyboard. Still looking very nice. I like my arturia plugins so having them all run on a device rather than using cpu resources would be something that would increase my odds of getting another controller.
I think Arturia is sitting in a nice price point on the new MK3. Ya, they missed the boat on Poly AT (imagine if their flagship controller had FullTouch), but its cheaper than the NI MK3 and will also be cheaper than the incoming SL from Novation. Not for me, but like you said...
I understand the point that new producers just need a midi keyboard and not everyone needs poly aftertouch.. however removing features that were there in Mk2 is a general loss both for new producers as well as the community as a whole as it is lowering the benchmark.. the Mk2 really was the benchmark of midi keyboards.. this one only adds Arp & Chord/Scale mode but removes 4 pads (bad for finger drummers), removes 9 switches (bad for people who map vsts in user mode), has only 5 user modes and each mode has only 1 bank (mk3 had 10 user modes x 3 banks), removes 2 aux inputs (bad for people who like to use effects in real time while playing instruments with their hands), removes CV (bad for hardware users).. Just in simple numbers there is more downgrades than upgrades..
I bought a brand new MKII at 269 in Oct-2024. Its a aluminium tank and better features. Its the 4Runner of keyboards. The new 4-Runner like the MKIII is a downgrade.
Hi there, Really liked your review, I’m looking forward to buy Arturia key lab MK3 but I would like to know if it works with studio one ( all the MIDI buttons) cuz I’ve seen some reviews saying that does works and others that does not, can you advise about it ? Appreciate it mate !
NI, Komplete 15: if your want to lose yourself in toy not real instruments not sample based. if to make mainstram and are not famous then go for it. go for hardware or on unique software synth
Great points, I just received mine and love it. The key bed feels like a nice upgrade
The pitch/mod wheels are metal bro, some kind of light zinc alloy i think.

@@DjazzStyle No one knows, but Novation - my guess - most likely around NAMM 2025
