As I work for Royal mail and I have been delivering down the docks for the past 10 years I to have seen nearly all the 66's. Fascinating film. All the best.
Mike! I Personally Like To Thank You For All Your Hard Work & Effort You Put Into The Production Of All Your Work, I Thoroughly enjoy Watching Your Productions I've Spent Hours Watching Them! Great Work, Well Done!
Thanks for your support, sorry I don't know your name, but I feel if I have all these videos ( over 600 hours ) if I have time I may as well share them. I have been fortunate to be given access to all the deliveries at Newport ( knowing the right people !) and other rail related events. Being of a certain age appears to help as they know I won't run around out of control ! Thanks for your support.....................Mike now in my 72nd year.
Those were the day when I had permission to video at the docks. Towards the end of deliveries, it became too crowded with photographers so strict limits on numbers were introduced. I was one of the lucky ones; maybe due to starting back in 1998!!
15 to 20 years ago, mid 1990s, one of a similar style of locomotive was loaded at the London Ontario aeroport, onto an Antonov aircraft and flown to Eire. It arrived two weeks prior to its sisters. In that time the bugs in the locomotive were ironed out prior to the others arriving.
Thanks again for the info. and watching my clips too. Pity there are no more deliveries. At least I was there to catch them all...............Mike in Wales
I would think so. I'll check some of my other tapes which might illustrate this better. This final lift was after the DRS and F/Liners were unloaded from the top deck which is then removed and floated in the dock adjacent to the boat. Some of them have a double skin and water is used as a counter balance when the load is swung over the side, ( as you will note the crane is onboard ).Contact me direct if you want a 100 min dvd from my private library. Mike W.
I've been fortunate enough to have quite a few friends at the docks who in turn give me notice of arrivals and access to safe viewing points. Also retiring 20 years ago gives me time " to be there "
Mike Wilcock ah Brillant by any chance do you have to ask someone near the docks to film this because I was thinking of dong this kinda of video myself
Permission has to be obtained from the Docks Office and I have a safety certificate and necessary clothing ( hard hat etc) Finally; there are no more imports of locos, we have enough at the moment!
37 was the pilot to move the locos once they had landed, as they travel without fuel and sand in the boxes. All this was recorded in the days I was there but too long for YT I think.............more to come from the docks on early 2000 etc
fantastic footage! great to watch! Feel a little uneasy seeing workers under the loco at 8:00 for obvisous reasons using their own man power to rotate and line up. What was the 37 needed for?
I have seen a fair few class 70's in Royal Seaforth Dock so it's possible future shipments are going to be in Liverpool or the workload shared? Just wanted to say great video Mike
Hi Mike, Any chance of a copy of the 100min DVD of the unloading at Newport? Didn't know it'd been recorded! Strictly for personal use of course. Drop me a line if you want to.
Thanks for watching. I was fortunate in gaining entry to the docks, but having started in 1999 most of the team trusted me to stay in safe areas. All a memory now as no more imports are due, and we have enough traction to meet requirements...............Mike
Wages were the problem but eventually, they would have left just like most American car production did for Mexico cheaper place to do business. Wages and employment standards.
I've been lucky enough to video all deliveries to the docks since 1998 to the last 70s
The joys of being retired !!......................Mike in Wales

Just catching up on your videos Mike over South Wales. I live in Newport which is why those in South Wales are of more interest. Good stuff Mike.

What was the 37 needed for?
Shunting, once the locos are unloaded
What would you recommend. I note in YT listings they don't have railways
All ideas welcome...mike
great video, glad i dont have that problem putting my 66 on the rails, lol.
Superb footage again Mike, it's unique and you need to title it as such to get more interest in it....Bob

Great and really interesting film. Where were the 58s going?
I am making a documentary on Fastline, Do you mind me using this in it with your permission and credit?
Yes that's OK. It will make an 80 year old pensioner happy !''I'm just so pleased I kept all my old video tapes now there are no more deliveries.
We are all glad you did. And thanks a lot!@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways

AT LAST !!! for years I have been telling the kids that trains come from a ships belly.
Did you also tell them that they were from America, Canada and Spain and cost over £1m..................Mike, back on TH-cam since updating my PC
Enjoyable

I bet you wish you were there when 70012 got dropped.
Safety is away!
Sorry, am I missing your point about my video?
@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways I mean a safety issue during the unloading process. I don't mean your video itself. It is great and I liked it.
@@saidbakr OK Thanks; that's why the crewe give me special permission to be on board. I have the hard hat etc etc. Have a good 2021. Mike in Wales
Sad those jobs left here for Mexico
which jobs? The locos are built in the USA & Canada, not Mexico
