That p51 looks identical to the one you did last year. Color scheme a bit different but everything else is the same. 450 mm and top also comes off with magnet. Was from Top RC
I completely get why your oldest son got into the hobby with these planes as you say at 19:30. It was the same for me. I never fancied crashing a larger plane. So I bought loads of these smaller ones, and they have taught me to fly and given me loads of fun. I did venture last year into larger planes too but have found I can fly less days, in less areas, and I still have the crash anxiety thing with them. So I am still flying my 400mms much, much more. I think these are a whole genre of flying in their own right really. A really interesting invention, and these days some of them (e.g. Volantex) fly really well.

Yup, I'll say it, that Top RC P51 was a sled. Mine barely makes it into the air. I may have to get one of these with the bigger motor, cooler colors, and I really like the 450mm size. Those snap on propellers go on a specific way, as there are 3 tiny tabs that protrude within both mating sides, and they can interfere with each other if you don't offset them when pushing them together. I always use an Xacto blade to make a mark on one side, to help with alignment. I then highlight it with black marker..old eyes here...lol
Also, those pressed on propeller connections at the motor shaft are super hard to remove. I came up with using a small nylon string and pushing it through the slot, then wrap that end around the inner shaft at least 2x and then over the cut-out on the opposite side of the slot. Bring the string ends together and wrap around your index finger. Then wrap other hand around the front of the foam area that supports the motor, somewhat tightly. With opposing tension on both hands now, pull away very quickly. The best way really, as otherwise you'll just about rip the motor right out of the plane with any other method.

Yep, It's like chest high in spots. Today I saw the pollen blowing EVERYWHERE - it Looks like a gravel road as the wind blows over it. Now, if only my "neighbor" that was harvesting the Alfalfa wouldn't have quit on us this year, I could possibly handle the amount of time it's gonna take to harvest JUST the grass hay.
Oh well, looks like I'll be letting go of some of that this season, since it's kinda torn up with the pond project wrapping up. Wonder if I can get some cool crop on the back side of the dam. It's a lot flatter than I expected, so I plan to, at minimum, take grass hay from that spot too.

99 and it's got to be a lot faster than the Sport Cub S2 with that bigger battery. Wind and slow has been its shortcoming.

It’s faster and noisier than the S2. Both are great though. Love the longer flight times of the xcub though.
That P-51D Mustang seems like a winner! Beeing able to fly in advanced mode is fantastic. I couldnt do that with my Rarebear and had to upgrade because of that.

Well, brian. I started when my dad first bought me a hobbyzone firebird stratos. 8 and 1/2 years later, eachine spitfire, all by your channel on my for you page. That led to about 5 small 400mm planes, then the umx radian with a dx6e. Then, A 2nd umx radian. Finally, i flew my first genuine hobbygrade plane, umx conscendo.
Which, was a huge jump. Then a few more umx planes, like waco, p51, etc, and even a durafly t28. (Not umx), and lays unflown.
Hobbyzone firebird stratos was a terrible trainer! Compared to the technology in even the small 400mm planes.
Nothing will ever beat walking in to the hobbyshop down main street, with that foam and glue smell, and browsing through the store with those you love.

Although marketed as 'toys' they are 4 channel, you can get parts, and even bind them to a pro transmitter if required. And compared to my 3 channel, poorly finished (around the wings) 'hobby grade' RTF Night Vapor which costs twice as much, I have to say these are much better made.
Might be a decent option for a trip to the inlaws, when I can't fit my Maule in the car.

I want to get a couple of the cubs. Neat little planes we can fly in a small area and not have to worry about breaking.
Yep, just keep in mind, these are a little faster than the UMX's so a small area is relative. They are a great low consequences option though!

My kids got me one for Father's Day! What glue do you recommend for repairs? Had a little incident that pulled one of the wing struts out of the fuselage and need to repair it to get the bird in the air again! So much fun!

Very interesting - both of these seem to be vamped up versions of the Volantix/ Top Race/ Rage RC planes!
It looks to be the same as a TOP RC 450mm P51, except maybe with bigger motor and better controller. My TOP RC P51 with 1020 coreless motor, is a sled. I also had to cut into the foam right out of the box to put one of the shaft retainer clips back into its location.
I've looked at several of these small cubs and they look the same with the same slim wing. To me it looks like they all have high stall speed and drop out of the air really uncontrollably.
I like the updates on these compared to the Eachine 400's (access to the board, better tires, motor access and better servos) but I think Horizon missed the mark by not making them compatible with DSMX straight out of the box.
I want a submersible RC review in the pond out back once it's done.

Re branded toprc .
Both seem great and id love to get one of them as my first plane but would you recommend it? Im slightly tight on money and wouldnt want to go over 150, but ive heard some people say bad things abt these
So, here's my no BS opinion... these would be considered more of a "toy grade" experience vs a "hobby grade" experience. They're not going to be the best plane ever, they're just not. BUT, if you want to get into RC and just figure out if you're even interested, they're a totally acceptable place to start, especially on a tight budget. Pick whichever one you like better:

IF you can stretch your $150 budget just a bit though, I'd highly recommend the Sport Cub S UMX RTF (make sure you get the Ready to Fly version so you get everything you need to start.) That's what I learned to fly on and will be a little more "hobby grade" than the Micro Trainers. But, it's also a different type of foam, and not as resilient to damage. As for the plane, I think I'll check out the sportcub because I looked at it and I think I do like it more and I'm guessing it'll.last me a bit longer. I recently got myself a toy grade one from Amazon and I've learnt to fly somewhat, but it's only 2 channel and I can't wait to fly a new one. Thank you so much :)

I don't know these in concrete but if it is the same as Volantex and Eachine you are looking for the V761 protocol. I fly all my war irds with my radiomaster Zorro 4in1 and I added 3 expo modes to make it easier for landing or or maneuvers.

Look for the RTF (Ready to Fly) version that includes the transmitter. That would be the next step up, but still relatively close to that price point. Good luck!

Will it bind to my NX8?
I own the Volantex Sport Cub 500. Can I put a spektrum satellite in that to use my NX10? If not, I'm going to sell it and buy this instead.
Not that I know of. This DSM plug is only on newer ones, that I know of.
So, is the Tx any good? Why not a PNP or BNF plane? That makes so much more sense. I don't want any more of these cheap Txs.
You really need a 4-n-1 Radiomaster for these, as they fly beautifully with that radio. Looks like it's the same as the Top RC P51 450mm, and I'm not sure the Radiomaster has the protocol in it like it does for the Volantex 400mm micro's.
@@MrDLRu I run my Volantex P51, F4U and T-28 with my Radiomaster Boxer 4in1. Excellent with a bit of expo in 3D mode.

Cub s2 a lot better.
X cub looks too fast for a trainer. Both my kids learned on a Champ and it can fly really slow. We still have it and it still is one of the best planes in my fleet for training a newbee.
YEP. 100% agree. Speed makes it hard for beginners. BUT these and other small offerings CAN be low consequence flying, which might be enough to help the kids decide if they want to dig deeper ;)
