Great team, can't wait to try it. A couple tiny tweaks id recommend is put the bonesspear on hoderick for another pp or do what I did and put the corroded spear on him and it makes him so much better because now he wrecks the other teams attacks in a column and renders them useless. Another tiny tweak I make to sell swords is instead of killing chain at 50% and call it a day, I add as a second condition "2 or more enemies remaining". This makes a huge difference cleaning up the last of a fight and constantly makes the difference between killing and not killing a final enemy. One last tweak would be to put the phantom greatshield on hoderick when you get it for +30 magic defense making him tank magic attacks surprisingly well. Fun video. Keep em up

This is a great squad. I hopped onto UO late to the game. Once I got this squad online (first playthrough on Expert) I just farmed gold until all the rapport was maxed for the whole squad. They're unstoppable. I hope you make UO videos again. I know it's not the "hot" thing but of the creators I've seen, yours is the best

I have a similar set up with Alain tanking and doing solid damage himself once promoted, Bernice and Jeremy chopping up enemies, and Scarlett keeping everyone healed. When I need to advance on a point I usually get this squad to clear the way.

I love the cool setups you can do. I came up with a funky thing myself. You know that gamble coin item that gives a buff that increases crit damage by 50 and reduces accuracy by 50? Well, it fits swordmaster like a glove as its main attack is true strike with 40% crit chance lmao. Basically put a swordmaster on front line, with extra parries for extra hits. Support in the back that can block arrows and magic, and you got an invincible swordmaster killing machine combo.
I didn't know anything about the promotions and was hyped that the female sellswords looked like historical Landsknecht. I literally shouted when I saw upgrade was called Landsknecht. lol
Great video! I decided to try this squad out on my game it was working great, then I replaced the hoplite with Virginia with the phantom knight's shield you can get in drakenhold. Massively tanky and adds anti armor and anti flying which the squad struggles with otherwise. And I think she kinda deserves a greatsword wielding bonk squad.
A high evasion squad like flyers or rouge would absolutely kill your squad. My most op squad is 2 griffins with high evasion and initiative ,1 witch and 1 shaman , the witch gives magic potency buff to the griffin row attacks and the shaman lowers the initiatives and defence of the opponents, usually 50%+ of the opponent squad is dead after the 2 griffin attacks once and everyone is dead after they attack a second time, archers die before they are able to even attack and everyone else just miss because of the high evade (1% hit chance for the opponent).
I actually have a similar squad set up but it's built using the various unique unit bandits you recruit each with their own egg, a bandit sword/axe, and a accessory that for the cost of -1 PP gives 200% gold and since it's not an egg a character can equip it and the egg. Get like 7K+ from generics.
I would consider putting gauntlets on your tank in this build, for the added guard bonus, poison doesn’t hurt you until u use AP which ur not really doing much, also for the tank the phantom great shield would make him decent against magic, while the guard boost makes up the difference in physical defense! But overall this set up kills!!!
I have a similar setup with Berengaria as the lead/tank with the bandit axe for another egg effect, with one warrior instead of 3 sellswords to better break hoplites while still putting out tons of damage. In Elheim you can also get a misers braclet, which is 2 more eggs worth of gold boost - where is the salamander ring from? I haven't found that.
@@TitaniumLegman I went thru and doublechecked all the shops in drakenhold, it's not there for me - unless you bought it from the port town with the level 24 enemies, which is the only place in drakenhold I haven't liberated, but you are shown to have it before going there apparently

That setup works for a good while but later on you have to start dancing around specific enemy setups that have a lot of hybrid/mage classes in their squads.
That's just it. You can strategize for specific unit builds to take out other specific units or you can strategize for your units to be more well-rounded to handle more types of enemies. That's the great thing with this game as you can make it as easy or difficult as you want with your unit creation and synergy setup.
I did something similar in the mid game, but with three swordmaster in the front and a supporter behind. Too bad swordmasters fall off a bit in the end game. So a guess Landsknechts are a better choice. Because having three leveled Landsknechts is much better in the late game than having three sword masters.
This is crazy. Interestingly enough, I have a similar looking squad in my own game, but with a Cleric in it. I might have to experiment a bit after seeing this. LOL
a small sellsword combo i really liked and used as my main squad with alain was a sellsword and a seargent, the seargent giving the sellsword guaranteed crits was so much fun, especially because sellswords whole deal is massive amounts of physical damage those crits were big

I did some experimenting and I propose a Squad similar to this one and uses the same Landshnekts. Instead of a Legionarre, Berengaria Is my go to front liner as she also comes equipped with a tower shield, but more importantly, her off the cuff passive reduces enemy init. She also boasts her initial attack she starts with, which can stun a whole row. (keep in mind, Berie is taken from the gang for a portion of Drakengard, but she comes back at the end of the chapter). And I personally like mobility, so my 4th/5th unit would be a Gryphon knight, to ferry the other 3 around, and also provide backrow clearing by having her tactics set to target full rows, knowing the other 3 will merk the front line. Also, 1k gold from a fight seems like a lot, but honestly, you're not really hungering for money in this game around the point where you get the ability to promote (usually its divine shards and resources), which leaves that slot open for another initivite/accuracy item. Love the vid tho man, thanks
Cool set up.. I'm sure you could just swap one brother out for a full on magical support class or offensive/def buffing class like the prince and set him up to cover any of the weaknesss and they would really shine.
Got a similar squad but with Amalia at the front. Absolutely deveststing. If anyone is having trouble getting Amalia (2nd battle) literally just put Travis alone with passive steal and evade and give him 1 extra pp point and whatever evade items you have. May take a few attempts but our boy Travis will come out victorious.
Nice Clip. If I am not mistaken, I think the most can boost up to 1000% or so with equipment, skills and items. I think it's best to have 1 or 2 with magic sword for some enemies that physical resistance but it's a very good money earning team.
Loving these squad videos! I've only just gotten to Drakenhold but it helps to give me some ideas to aim for along the way. P.S. Congrats on 17K! Slowly catching up on the stream vods as I play through.
I've been trying to put together a More DOTs squad but it hasn't really come together. I guess what I want is another copy of the Flame-Hex Staff, or some other way to inflict more burning before the enemy has a chance to act.
Working on a video about this, should be out in a couple days. Suffice to say, there's a tome you can get that puts fire on your melee attacks, similar to the ice tome that does the same but for ice.
I also use this squad comp but instead of the Detoxifying Amulet I find the Dancer Bracelet to be far better. You basically get a 30% phy boost before every attack action. You add a Dragonbone Spear for extra PP and you basically get 3 buffs per encounter, which for a DPS specialist squad makes them insanely powerful. I've absolutely nuked enemies even if they are buffed and guard when I hit them. God I love this game
Sellswords have... really fallen off for me in elf country. A really big weakness of the counter build is that 1: they're not very accurate, and 2: they can't counter backline units if there's a frontliner alive. So elves with high evasion and ranged hybrid damage often just rip apart this style of hoplite protected backline. Not that it can't be effective if you choose your battles of course, but i've had more success with more balanced unit formations.
Yeah, I noticed that myself. If you want to use this kind of unit they need a unit to pair with that can cover for their weaknesses. Against elves, that'd be some kind of physical unit that can hit the backlines reliably and a tank that can deal with the hybrid damage.
So, this team is similar to a Unique team I personally use. You mention Jeremy and Magellan, but I also put Liza and Aubin in this party (and they all have Rapports with one another). Aubin uses the Bandit's Handaxe and a Miser's Bracelet for even more money generation. Liza does pretty well as a front-liner tank (who also gives some support against backline and flying threats), and the team does well enough. Will probably add a Legionnaire when it grows to a 5-man team.

Quick pronounciation tip from a native German speaker: the "landshneck" ist actually pronounced Lands (as per in English, except the a is realised as |a:|, so similar to the as in HubbaBubba) and Knecht (usually referring to a servant or farmstead, which was the dominant meaning of the Old and Middle English words 'cniht' and 'knyght', but in this case means sellsword or knight) is kind of hard to put into words. You'd be close if you started with a hard k, then proceed as in 'knee' but change the vowel sound to that of 'hen' and then finish it with an sht, as I assume that would make it easier for English speakers. And it would be 100% correct in some German dialects. Cheers!
Hey brother, I don’t know if you have done a video about power leveling yet (or if you are interested), admittedly I’m behind on watching them 😅. But if you want an idea for a video… I am doing the sigil quests and it is so busted. The first quest you can power level everyone to 10 and the second one to 20. So easy.

On my second playthrough and I am using a small variant on this one. I replaced one sellsword with a soldier. This allows me more ability to pick off flyers with javelin or scouts with true thrust from the unwavering spear. and first aid adds just a touch of longevity to the squad. add in the option of fast rest leader effect. basically, I traded some raw power for versatility and sustain.
Where do you get the other golden eggs? I got the one from the chicken quest. Do they just come about through progression? I'm just now wrapping up on the last few Cornia battles and moving onto Drakenhold/Elheim.
@@camerongulley3791 Quite a bit actually lol. This game has its hooks in deep. But yeah, I've got the golden eggs by now and so much more. Still running a squad like this though, I'm not at the point yet where I don't need money, and it turns out it's just a powerhouse against a lot of stuff.
I spent a good 60% of my playtime just crafting squads that work good together, only to have a glaring weakness exposed the very next mission. And when I randomly throw together some leftovers, they suddenly compete with my best squads (looking at you, Dark Marquis). I feel like I am wasting my time.
The way the game is definitely centers around constantly building and adjusting your teams, it's nice that you can preview enemy units during battles and adjust accordingly.

A potential issue I have with this build is that mobility of 76. It's so slow and I already have trouble keeping my grounded units levelled due to the superior speed of cavalier based units. Any potential solutions minus spamming light feathers
Smart withdrawal and deployment to base hop helps, but most of the time I'm using them to hold and counter, letting the enemy come to them, so the speed isn't an issue.
I think the key thing to take from this video isn't about the classes, you just need a team with five Golden Eggs to make a lot money. If you have team full of AoE abilities, it would probably go much faster. My question is how much gold do you have now? I have also yet to hire an mercenaries and I still haven't left Cornia while sitting at almost 300k gold. I probably could have gotten more gold by using Plunder, but I haven't been needing to use any of the gold I have gotten at this point either aside from buying the Cornite Stones from an NPC...
Did you ever try this with a Crimson Sarissa on your Legionaire for some potential healing on the tank? Or did another lance eventually find it's place as the main weapon? I'm still only on part four of your series! I havent even seen the bros come to life yet! Haha.
Ok, BUT have you tried this 5-man squad? 2x Sergent, 2x Druid, 1x Prince (Gilbert). Both Sergents have 4AP/2PP with Carnelian equipment. One Druid has 3AP/2PP with a Dustbound Staff, Necromancer Lantern, and a Dove Plume. One Druid has 3AP/3PP with a Flame-Hex Staff. Gilbert has 3AP/4PP and has a Dove Plume. The goal is Druid 1 always goes first and blinds the enemy team. Druid 2 is set with quick curse that DOES NOT target blind foes to lessen incoming damage, Druid 1 follows up with Vanitas which reapplies blind and poison. Druid 2 targets the unit with the most AP and burns its row. Meanwhile, the sergents are buffed with increased attack, auto-crit, auto-hit honed spears that target full columns. This build is actually nuts. If the enemy has a row cleanse, Druid 2 is set with an Offensive Curse that targets not blinded foes. I’ve used this to clear up to rank 3 coliseum and only stopped there because the team is lvl 20 xD
One of the easiest ways to handle it would be extra griffon knights to sweep the Shamans. Thieves to steal the gladiator's passive points and/or poison them for free damage is huge too. If the clerics in the tower are giving you trouble, try pulling them off it with a beckoning bell or Provoke to kill the easily, and pack a couple assist squads to give you extra damage. You can out one in the tower to the left, and the other in the mantlet to the right, to get infinite aissts.
You don't NEED a replacement. I hired an extra for another team that I wanted a heavy tank for, and then of course Werebear and Feathershield are really nice tanks as well.
Is plunder gold separate from combat gold? For all my battles so far I prioritize plundering an enemy unit before killing them to maximize gold gain as much as possible
How important are the accuracy accessories? Do they miss too often without them? .... have you tried this team to be dual farmers ( no extra accuracy , with xp gain gear)
This build is incredible! Using Hodrick (lvl 21), Magellan. Jeremy and Berenice (lvl 20) (all upgraded, not my money squad)... I got to rank 4 in the coliseum...holy shiiiiiiii...
Plunder isn't impacted by the golden egg or other income effects. It's a good companion piece since plunder gold and combat reward gold are separate pools, but it can't replace what the squad does.

You should change the tactic on Magick Wall to only activate if caster enemies are present.
enemy caster's with 1^ ap remaining would be even better. be silly to cast it after the mage's have spent their ap

I'd put on the sanguine attack spear to get some self heals on the hoplite/legionaire if the Landsknecht don't kill everything mid/late game.

That's a good suggestion. I didn't even think of that item for characters who utilize true strike skills.
doing that too the fighter is set to not use coin if flyers or archers are present so he can block for the swordfighter but otherwise free damage

Not that it can't be effective if you choose your battles of course, but i've had more success with more balanced unit formations.

Yeah, I noticed that myself. If you want to use this kind of unit they need a unit to pair with that can cover for their weaknesses. Against elves, that'd be some kind of physical unit that can hit the backlines reliably and a tank that can deal with the hybrid damage.
Luckily we also happen to get 3 unique Sellswords so this can still work without mercs.
as a player who has chosen to not hire and generics (i think they trivialize the game) this is wonderful news.
So, this team is similar to a Unique team I personally use. You mention Jeremy and Magellan, but I also put Liza and Aubin in this party (and they all have Rapports with one another). Aubin uses the Bandit's Handaxe and a Miser's Bracelet for even more money generation. Liza does pretty well as a front-liner tank (who also gives some support against backline and flying threats), and the team does well enough. Will probably add a Legionnaire when it grows to a 5-man team.

Great video! Quick pronounciation tip from a native German speaker: the "landshneck" ist actually pronounced Lands (as per in English, except the a is realised as |a:|, so similar to the as in HubbaBubba) and Knecht (usually referring to a servant or farmstead, which was the dominant meaning of the Old and Middle English words 'cniht' and 'knyght', but in this case means sellsword or knight) is kind of hard to put into words. You'd be close if you started with a hard k, then proceed as in 'knee' but change the vowel sound to that of 'hen' and then finish it with an sht, as I assume that would make it easier for English speakers. And it would be 100% correct in some German dialects. Cheers!

Hey brother, I don’t know if you have done a video about power leveling yet (or if you are interested), admittedly I’m behind on watching them 😅. But if you want an idea for a video… I am doing the sigil quests and it is so busted. The first quest you can power level everyone to 10 and the second one to 20. So easy.

On my second playthrough and I am using a small variant on this one. I replaced one sellsword with a soldier. This allows me more ability to pick off flyers with javelin or scouts with true thrust from the unwavering spear. and first aid adds just a touch of longevity to the squad. add in the option of fast rest leader effect. basically, I traded some raw power for versatility and sustain.
Where do you get the other golden eggs? I got the one from the chicken quest. Do they just come about through progression? I'm just now wrapping up on the last few Cornia battles and moving onto Drakenhold/Elheim.
Unsure how much farther you are a week later, but you can buy an egg in cornelia and there's a 3rd egg in drakongard.
@@camerongulley3791 Quite a bit actually lol. This game has its hooks in deep. But yeah, I've got the golden eggs by now and so much more. Still running a squad like this though, I'm not at the point yet where I don't need money, and it turns out it's just a powerhouse against a lot of stuff.
Action economy is a thing. There is a reason the side that acts more usually wins.

I spent a good 60% of my playtime just crafting squads that work good together, only to have a glaring weakness exposed the very next mission.
And when I randomly throw together some leftovers, they suddenly compete with my best squads (looking at you, Dark Marquis).
I feel like I am wasting my time.
Dark Marquess is an outlier and can't really be counted lol. This is a game of counters, all you can do is learn them and build around them.
The way the game is definitely centers around constantly building and adjusting your teams, it's nice that you can preview enemy units during battles and adjust accordingly.
You need balance like in every other team composition game

Make sure you peep the treasure maps...there's some items that'll help you make even more money, one or two give you up to 200% gold instead of 1.

i have also a similiar comp but instead of hoplite, i put virginia instead so when she got hit all 4 are counter attacking that mf. and she can take a hit too
A potential issue I have with this build is that mobility of 76. It's so slow and I already have trouble keeping my grounded units levelled due to the superior speed of cavalier based units. Any potential solutions minus spamming light feathers
Smart withdrawal and deployment to base hop helps, but most of the time I'm using them to hold and counter, letting the enemy come to them, so the speed isn't an issue.

I think the key thing to take from this video isn't about the classes, you just need a team with five Golden Eggs to make a lot money. If you have team full of AoE abilities, it would probably go much faster. My question is how much gold do you have now? I have also yet to hire an mercenaries and I still haven't left Cornia while sitting at almost 300k gold. I probably could have gotten more gold by using Plunder, but I haven't been needing to use any of the gold I have gotten at this point either aside from buying the Cornite Stones from an NPC...
Did you ever try this with a Crimson Sarissa on your Legionaire for some potential healing on the tank? Or did another lance eventually find it's place as the main weapon? I'm still only on part four of your series! I havent even seen the bros come to life yet! Haha.
I wound up converting the Legionnaire to 100% defense actually, he didn't even have an attack by the time the squad was complete 🤣
The only thing that puts me off is the abysmal mobility but the combat is beastly
Ok, BUT have you tried this 5-man squad? 2x Sergent, 2x Druid, 1x Prince (Gilbert). Both Sergents have 4AP/2PP with Carnelian equipment. One Druid has 3AP/2PP with a Dustbound Staff, Necromancer Lantern, and a Dove Plume. One Druid has 3AP/3PP with a Flame-Hex Staff. Gilbert has 3AP/4PP and has a Dove Plume.
The goal is Druid 1 always goes first and blinds the enemy team. Druid 2 is set with quick curse that DOES NOT target blind foes to lessen incoming damage, Druid 1 follows up with Vanitas which reapplies blind and poison. Druid 2 targets the unit with the most AP and burns its row. Meanwhile, the sergents are buffed with increased attack, auto-crit, auto-hit honed spears that target full columns. This build is actually nuts. If the enemy has a row cleanse, Druid 2 is set with an Offensive Curse that targets not blinded foes.
I’ve used this to clear up to rank 3 coliseum and only stopped there because the team is lvl 20 xD

Hey, may i ask for some tips how to crack the Battle for Istania? This double shaman combo is annoying as hell.....
One of the easiest ways to handle it would be extra griffon knights to sweep the Shamans. Thieves to steal the gladiator's passive points and/or poison them for free damage is huge too. If the clerics in the tower are giving you trouble, try pulling them off it with a beckoning bell or Provoke to kill the easily, and pack a couple assist squads to give you extra damage. You can out one in the tower to the left, and the other in the mantlet to the right, to get infinite aissts.
Probably could adjust a unit to put fire or poison onto the shamans

You don't NEED a replacement. I hired an extra for another team that I wanted a heavy tank for, and then of course Werebear and Feathershield are really nice tanks as well.

Is plunder gold separate from combat gold? For all my battles so far I prioritize plundering an enemy unit before killing them to maximize gold gain as much as possible
How important are the accuracy accessories? Do they miss too often without them? .... have you tried this team to be dual farmers ( no extra accuracy , with xp gain gear)
They tend to have accuracy issues without the accessories. Not TERRIBLE, but more than I'd like.

Plunder isn't impacted by the golden egg or other income effects. It's a good companion piece since plunder gold and combat reward gold are separate pools, but it can't replace what the squad does.

Probably offensive precise. The damage is nice, and they do want some extra accuracy.
