For anyone new to the channel or is interested in the Halo lore before they get their hands on Infinite, I made a full Halo cinematic retrospective series that covers the major events and characters that eventually lead to Halo Infinite. It was really a lot of hard work and I would like more people to check it out! I'll leave a link here for anyone interested: th-cam.com/play/PLUa1TbIRNJ6j5FdnLkProJBUJO4dM8_D3.html
As a curiosity, for anyone who might not notice it: this song has a part that definitely is the prajnaparamitra sutra in Japanese. It is a buddhist chant about the emptiness and lack of self nature of all phenomena. As a zen buddhist, I used to recite it in our weekly ceremony. For me, it is really weird hearing it in Guidorah's theme, but I know some people find it spooky and it is used in a lot of pop culture in Japan to give off that vibe (not unlike catholic Gregorian chant is used in the west). The recitation starts around 2 minutes in Ghidhora theme, here is a version of the sutra recited in a somewhat similar manner: th-cam.com/video/9IBPZ9UDoI0/w-d-xo.html
Something that really helped Ghidorah in this movie is the fact that he's acting on his own free will instead of being mind controlled by a villain faction. the movie treats him like the world ending threat he's supposed to be, not as a weapon for some alien race.
Which was a long time coming, so when I realized that MonsterVerse Ghidorah is indeed the diabolical mastermind who is dictating/manipulating events and doing the puppeteering like he's supposed to, of his own free will as you've already mentioned, the amount of relief and satisfaction I felt can't be properly described in words. Honestly, this version of Ghidorah is my absolute favorite for many reasons, and my earlier words in this comment is one of them.
They somehow made animals in an ecosystem cool. And the literal alien is the invasive species just following basic instincts They also gave each head their own personalities
@@indio4-215 Ghidorah absolutely stole the show. I really like how they managed to make him fit in neatly with the modern theme - an invasive species wrecking earth's natural ecosystem - while also capturing the original's sheer menace and power.
Since Ghidorah is an alien that can conjure lightning storms wherever he goes, I'm pretty sure he's from Saturn because of its yellow coloration which is the same also as Saturn and the fast winds caused in the surface of the planet and the noises we hear when we look at Saturn, sounds like Ghidorah' call but we can't see it

The fact he's able to create a category 6 hurricane just by flying around really does no favors when it comes to convincing anyone that this version of King Ghidorah isn't legitimately terrifying
Some people seem to think a good villain needs a complex backstory or a question of human morality when really it's the giant three-headed dragon that should be feared.
Dangerville made a video about Ghidorah and his darkest secrets where he was a psychopathic killer who was responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs by eating them and kidnaps children and throws them into a digestive bulb to be consumed whilst watching the children scream and suffer.
Sometimes a simple pure evil villain can be just as effective as a complex one. You would not question King Ghidorah about his morality while he's destroying everything in sight, he's like a force of nature and pure destruction that can only be stopped by an equal force of destruction.

Ni is *AGGRESSION* he attacks everything without hesitation Ichi is *INTELLIGENCE* he thinks before acting and is the one that holds the most hate for Gojira San is *CURIOSITY* he inspects everything before deciding if he should attack, while he is not as smart as the others, he is just as sadistic
Ghidorah is like the exact opposite of Thanos. He has purely selfish motivations (wanting to kill all life one earth and reshape it to his own three heads liking), Never shows a hint of regret, and is not complex in any way. And yet he's as good of a Villain, because he's so damn scary!
Yeah, that's the difference between Thanos and Darkseid. IMO, Darkseid is like the devil incarnate. Pure evil. Not just destruction and terror, but subjugation and torture and loss of all hope, despair.. Ghidorah shares that vain cruelty and malice with no more reason than because he can, and enjoys the suffering wrought by himself.
this movie was all I wanted for a godzilla movie all those negative reviews dont know what this movie is. Like Micheal Dougherty said: "My goal was making a Godzilla movie, that actually respects it legacy."
Random fact: The chanting in the background is actually Buddhist chants, meant as both a warning and a protection. Even the music is afraid of King Ghidorah.
I love how they give these Monsters their own themes and made them full force characters instead of just plot points. Ghidorah had a sadistic personality that is seen when one of him notices a small group of humans and he tries to kill them.
Right? Rodan is a natural disaster, Mothra brings hope, Godzilla enforces orders/balance and Ghidorah brings total despair, annihilation and extinction.
@@gunmasterx1164 don't know. I want say something old like Babylonian maybe. Sumatran even? Consider he was referenced in all ancient civilizations as something so terrifying that he should be forgotten altogether in hopes he would never surface again
The KOTM version of Ghidorah definitely must be the best cinematic dragon since Smaug in 2013, and has to be up there among the greatest cinematic dragons of all time. All of the four main monsters in the film were great and provided tough competition for the spotlight, but Ghidorah stole the show without fail.
Ni(Right head): Is the most Aggressive out of the trio Ichi(Middle head): The most intelligent and dominant out of the trio Kevin(Left Head): Well just Kevin.
Oh, that's just what "Kevin" wants you to think... In reality, he plays the fool. He's truly there to cover the other two's blind spots. To be absolutely certain nothing sneaks up on them. That's why Ichi and Ni can fight and do as they like with impunity... Kevin, who's real name is San, is the eyes in the back of the head.
Mothra's theme emphasizes her elegance and majesty. Rodan's theme shows his rage and ferocity. Godzilla's theme represents his determination and raw power. But Ghidorah? His theme gives off a sense of terror and dread. It gives the sense that Ghidorah is a true monster. Even the music is afraid of the Golden Devil.
And Ghidorah *KNOWS* he's evil too. Iirc, look at the ?third? solo Mothra movie. When Ghidorah trapped the kids in his dome, (and he ONLY went for kids, mind you) he just stood there, watching as the ?acid? slowly surrounded the kids.
Revan Tobias I don’t think so. I’ve never seen the movie, but from what I know Armor Mothra was able to kill Ghidorah before he could devour the children.
There is no telling, how terrifying that scene was when he regains his 3rd head. You can hear his roar echoing all over the planet, and the background music of king ghidorah... oh there isn't a possible way to explain how much evil and chaotic this three headed storm is.
@@khoufiarrobbani3638 Regular Godzilla didn't have enough power to effectively destroy King Ghidorah's body, let alone that Godzilla is the pre super-charged one (before Serizawa nuke him to restore and increase Godzilla's power). Only the form of Fire Godzilla is the one that have enough destroying capability in order to incinerate King Ghidorah properly, so that he may not regenerate its body back again. And it's totally much deserved death for the King of Terror, as Godzilla ended King Ghidorah's reign with his full might (with the help from the King's flag bearer, Mothra of course). Let's say if Godzilla win that underwater battle, and killed King Ghidorah like what he did to female Muto or somehow Godzilla manages to tear-off all of King Ghidorah's head. There would be large portion of King Ghidorah's body left in the bottom of the ocean, and considering the Otherwordly regeneration King Ghidorah has compare to Godzilla's ( _Even the middle head was pretty much still alive after it got hit in point blank range of thermonuclear explosion and decapitated from its body, before said head got blasted off later on_ ) , he could return by the next time and regenerated its full body mass back. P.S: If Emma Russel did not distracted King Ghidorah using Orca device while he's busy draining Godzilla's atomic energy, King Ghidorah would've win the final battle on Boston.
Mothra's theme: Play it in nature Godzilla's theme: Play it in the ocean Rodan's theme: Play it in an active volcano Ghidorah's theme: Play it in a hurricane Kong's theme: Play it while in a zoo looking at some monkes
Ni is aggression. He kills all that stands in their way. Ichi is intelligence. He thinks before he acts and commands those below him. Kevin... Kevin’s kinda stupid but we love him anyway.
I love how Ghidorah is the shadow archetype to Godzilla: Both are kaijus capable of untold destruction and have an interest in Earth, but Godzilla has an outwardly fearsome appearance, yet he defends the Earth and its inhabitants, usually causing destruction due to unawareness, Ghidorah has an outwardly majestic appearance, but is a sadistic dragon who seeks to shape the world to his likeness and murders because he enjoys it.
@@heramaaroricon4738 And so, does the *3 heads of King Ghidorah* 👑🐉 means that *he has an equally 3 personalities* alright 🤔? Also, is it me or that "Monster Zero" himself, King Ghidorah *looks eerily resembles the dragon sigil of House Targaryen* right then...🐉?
@@rahadianaryo5979 If you watched the movie with attention, you would know that there are scenes where the heads are acting independently like after Gidorah got awaken they fight over food and leadership, despite sharing the same body.
@@heramaaroricon4738 I always interpreted the heads as being three aspects of the same being. They act independently according to their nature, but they're of one mind, especially when it comes to dispatching their foe.
i hope they make him 3x eviler than ghidorah and a reoccurring villain and in future movies they hint at it like “and you thought that three headed titan was evil?” and maybe JUST maybe the reincarnated ghidorah (mecha or not) teams up with godzilla this one time. i want destroyah to be the thanos of the monsterverse and ghidorah to be kinda like a loki.
Wait... I just realized. Ghidorah's one true goal is to rule, to be the uncontested ruler, the ultimate power, and he must destroy anything that would stand up to him. After Godzilla was defeated at Isla De Maya, he called all the Titans to do his bidding, and then moved to attack the next greatest power on Earth: he went and sat himself on Washington DC. And I would watch an entire movie about the Battle of Washington, where the US Military fights Ghidorah and Rodan, and loses hard, while Serizawa gives Godzilla a nice cup of nuclear coffee. Ghidorah's goal is not to simply destroy everything, his goal is power, to rule through fear, intimidation and subjugation. Why do we have legends about great dragons who rest beneath the Earth on vast treasures of gold? Because gold is wealth, and wealth is power, and dragons seek power.
None of the Titans are evil by nature. They are forces of nature, wild creatures on a colossal scale sure, but not really evil. Ghidorah though...he is evil incarnate. The only Titan that kills for pleasure.
@@wiktoriakos2597 True, I should have elaborated a bit further. All of the Titans are force of nature *except* Ghidorah, who is an alien. He is not benevolent in any capacity but is actively evil and genuinely enjoys killing and destroying things unlike the rest who only really destroy cities by accident due to their size. To every other Titan, they cause collateral damage. To Ghidorah, it is intentional damage.
They said that those Buddhist chants are based on or taken from "Heart Sutra." Quite fitting for this eldritch horror devil. In other words, even the music is also afraid of Ghidorah's presence.
His own theme fears him. His presence is menacing. He's powerful beyond description. He consumes gods and men alike. He steals the throne. He strikes fear into those who oppose him. He is referred to as a devil in every sense of the word. He's not called the King of Terror for nothing.

The most Sadistic of the Titans. It doesn’t care about anything. The Chaotic Evil to Godzilla’s True Neutral and Mothra’s Lawful Good. Being unnecessarily cruel to all forms of life, and massacring them for its own entertainment. It takes genuine pleasure in extinguishing the lives of those around it, revelling in every moment. And when Godzilla comes in to put it in its place (ie: back on ice) it’s enraged. Like a child throwing a temper tantrum because its parent told it to go to bed and stop playing with its toys. This hydra is actually a better antagonist than Thanos, cuz I actually WANT Ghidorah to be destroyed. With MCU’s Thanos, I kinda just wanna give the big guy a hug. He genuinely thought he was doing the right thing and was willing to sacrifice his own happiness to do so. While Ghidorah is like the comic Thanos, massacring hundreds of thousands for entertainment. A TRUE monster. And the BEST Antagonist I’ve seen in film for a while. Can’t wait for how they capture Destoroyah. The only Kaijuu I know of that had the balls to kill Godzilla jr when his old man was nearby.
@Venom Gaming Rodan’s Chaotic Neutral, not True Neutral. It’s more interested in it’s own survival and doesn’t care who it sides with so long as they’re the strongest around. Godzilla is a force all of his own, marching solely to his own whims and destroying anything he feels threatens the natural order of things. He’s completely neutral when there isn’t a threat around though, preferring to leave the world to those living in it currently since he knows the Kaiju’s time has passed.
Actually Destroyah is more evil than Ghidorah, although I wouldn't say he's as powerful. Then again, he managed to kill Godzilla in front of his son. But the thing about that is that he seemed to enjoy making Godzilla Jr suffer

Ghidorah incorporates a lot of demonic/satanic motifs in his design and behavior. In universe he very well may be, essentially the Devil, having been the inspiration for those legendary/mythology. I think it's only natural to find such a character terrifying.

Yeah while it could be debated without a definite answer which is a better villain the one who has reason and motivation and will stop at nothing to achive their goal, or the one who simply does bad things because they like it or just feel like it and have no care for anyone, ghidorah definitely is a good villain because the fact is while in the recent movie they have him and the other monsters out as mere animal types going by instinct, in the earlier versions you know just how evil he is for he knows what civilizations he destroys he knows of the people he kills, he is just simply evil and uncaring, and this does in a way show that because with his level of power and how he interacted with the humans its really easy to see how he just simply evil personified

Ghidorah has actively tried to kill as many people as possible, for fun or for himself. He is the embodiment of evil, his design a has has always been based on descriptions of Satan (three serpentine heads and bat wings). Especially when you realize that people are powerless before the hydra, and the gradually coming hurricane of the guitar makes it clear that the danger is very close to ordinary mortals
Just as Ghidorah affected the monsters it should've had some control over humans Ex: Instead of having the scientist full irrational and insane, have Ghidorah(still dormant) take advantage of her grief, make her determined to kill Godzilla, and get her to release them/him Ex2: Have Ghidorah take advantage of Tywins love of power, violence, and make him obsessed with releasing Ghidorah, having him believe he can control them. Have him start out as head of security or something It would've made more sense and explained why humans apparently didn't want to talk about Ghidorah, because Ghidorah brought out the very worst of them and grew stronger as a result Maybe the decline in the ancient civilization began when Ghidorah was defeated but had already caused great harm on those people
Actually that makes sense. Also the Orca part when Ghidorah was about to kill the monarch characters, he noticed the sound was so similar to his roar that he wants to destroy it, distracting him on the process.
Yeah, and tying into the Devil imagery, he influences some people into worshipping him, kind of like the Anti-Christ. Man, now I feel like this was a missed opportunity.
That...actually would have been a whole lot better! Not that I don't like the movie, I loved it, but this would have made Ghidorah terrifying on a whole new level. That, and it would have eliminated complaints of the characters' motivations being "confusing" or whatever.

You know, if the Titans represent forces and aspects of nature, then Ghidorah is like an asteroid impact. Ghidorah falls from space upon the world one day, and when Ghidorah touches down it kills all life in its immediate vicinity, and it rapidly and radically changes the planet's climate and conditions in a way which causes mass extinction.
1:16 This is my favourite part of Ghidorah's theme, it's so small and underrated but it just sounds like absolute defeat, the soft deep chanting in the background sounds like the monks doing it are falling to their knees in anguish and dread from the looming threat of Ghidorah's arrival
1:14 untill 2:30 is the best soundtrack ever for representing loss from the most important fight of your life, and the villain obtaining all the power in the world, leaving you powerless and helpless, this is music perfection.
The only Enemy Godzilla legitimately needed to cheat hax-machina in order to win. King of the monsters is Ghidorah, its in his goddamn name. The only King to drop a god from the sky on his ass, live to be an android to kick his ass AGAIN, and Gojira needed help both times to win. Ghidorah is different.
At 6:28 when you hear that motif from Godzilla’s theme, and then being so violently suppressed and swept off it’s rhythm by Ghidorah’s triumph makes the world burning psychopath in my head feel so happy

Only the form of Fire Godzilla is the one that have enough destroying capability in order to incinerate King Ghidorah properly, so that he may not regenerate its body back again.
@@reaperofthings I'd pin Ghidorah more as Lawful Evil than Chaotic Evil, because his goals were to overthrow Godzilla as earth's alpha titan and terraform the earth to his liking.

@@SharkLordProductions I'm pretty sure Ghidorah having some form of regen happened even in the Toho movies. In the Rebirth of Mothra 3, Mothra fought a Ghidorah on a cretaceous era Earth and destroyed it with only a severed tail remaining. She came back to present-day Earth only to find that the tail regenerated into a whole new Ghidorah.
Hell even having his entire body incinerated didn't kill the single living head, Godzilla had to fire his atomic breath THROUGH that remaining head to actually kill it.

Just as Ghidorah affected the monsters it should've had some control over humans
Ex: Instead of having the scientist full irrational and insane, have Ghidorah(still dormant) take advantage of her grief, make her determined to kill Godzilla, and get her to release them/him
Ex2: Have Ghidorah take advantage of Tywins love of power, violence, and make him obsessed with releasing Ghidorah, having him believe he can control them. Have him start out as head of security or something
It would've made more sense and explained why humans apparently didn't want to talk about Ghidorah, because Ghidorah brought out the very worst of them and grew stronger as a result
Maybe the decline in the ancient civilization began when Ghidorah was defeated but had already caused great harm on those people
Actually that makes sense.

1:16 This is my favourite part of Ghidorah's theme, it's so small and underrated but it just sounds like absolute defeat, the soft deep chanting in the background sounds like the monks doing it are falling to their knees in anguish and dread from the looming threat of Ghidorah's arrival
