I.N.R.I. Nature renewed by fire made whole! I screamed that and naturally went unheard. At the show, Geordie noticed from the corner of his eye and nodded. Rest in peace, Kevin. Thanks for noticing your fans! 🤘
When I was 4, this was my favorite song. I'd cheer when my dad put the CD on. Once Asteroid started playing, I would bounce all around the living room. I wanna thank him for raising me right. 😂
That's the most fiery rendition of "Asteroid" ever. Really works in a live setting. Puts a lump in my throat - respect to one of the heaviest non-metal bands ever.
People, Jaz isn't even into Metal. In my opinion Killing Joke cannot be classified, but I'd describe it as spiritual/industrial/protest/gnostic hard rock.
Lol I was about to comment the same thing. Dudes always so calm and collected even with his strumming style, makes it even more bad ass when hes playing heavy riffs like this one
Yeah, 100% agree. They went from 80's postpunk/goth with a little bit of overdriven guitar, to this monstrous heavy as balls sound. Also, I appreciate you being a Type O AND Killing Joke fan.
Cause I love these guys so much, I'll add this too. Geordie's genius runs deep as a guitarist. As a guitar player and gear head myself, i can tell you his combo of guitar and gear should not work at all, according to convention. Geordie breaks all the rules. He's using the textbook definition of the absolute wrongest type of guitar for this heavy of a sound. He's using a 1950's Gibson hollowbody with p90 pickups (basically the hottest, hummiest electronics ever used for guitars) into a high gain distorted guitar amp. He's essentially playing an old school jazz guitar through a metal style guitar amp. It makes for a chaotic feedback, prone guitar, that Geordie tames to create this off the rails thunderous guitar sound. On top of that, he's using this thick chorus effect (a staple of 80's goth and post punk). It is one of the most original guitar sounds in existence. Period. I like riffy hard rock and metal like Van Halen and heavier stuff too, but I also love siouxsie and the cure. When I first heard this, I knew I found something special.
@@65BigNorm Yes, John McGeoch is also one of my favorites. One of the most original guitarists there ever was. My rig's gone completely digital now, but I toy with the idea of getting an actual MXR Flanger sometimes just to have that experience and response of John's guitar sound.
Can't get this song out of my head! The drumming by Grohl was epic but this guy nailed it too.Thunderous and magical at once.Very sad about Geordie, cool guy.
bollocks does it, you've been listening to the wrong bands, this is a classic but no I don't agree, try Chaos 8, Headstone Horrors, B-Movie Britz, Overload
@@FatpunkSnr But Killing Joke's heaviest outings are their (grand)daddies, the fact that they don't need extra production or strings or even downtuning to smash your face in says something.
@@Cyclobomber Well, Geordie is actually playing a whole step down tuning, but he did it way before any of these new guys ever did. He was doing it in the 70's!

They're so frickin' heavy, but they just act like "yeah, we do this everyday..." No pretense. Just show up and play the music. I don't think we'd see eye to eye on Jesus, but I'd still jam with them given the chance... lol. btw, this is my pulling out of a parking lot with my windows down song.

What? Killing Joke are more metal than Burzum multiplied by Cannibal Corpse!
Non metal?
man, Killing Joke is the cornerstone of industrial metal...

I dont think ive ever seen a band get angrier and heavier with age quite as well as Killing Joke does.

👍 Geordie is pure Zen!
Apart from the late great John McGeoch, I think Geordie is second to none........

It's cool you mentioned Van Halen, I read some where that Eddie was an admirer of Geordie and his technique
Criminally underrated band.
