- Caught this outta the corner of my eye one morning while visiting with my Grandpa. She was kinda hiding but, I heard the call. Sun was hitting it just right kinda thing...
I wanna thank Derek from VGG for inspiring me to get back into this kinda stuff. I grew up doing what you see in this video. Working on stuff and junk someone gave up on a long time ago. There is a personal moment of glory when you fight the earth for rusty metal and win the day. Especially when you get it moved under it's own power. Anyway, I entered this truck into a contest on VGG. 'Day with Derek' I think it was called??? Where he would come and help ya get her going or whatnot and every stuff.. I didn't win that contest at all. Congrats to who ever did tho!!

Looks just like the one my grandparents had that was sitting for years with a bunch of their other old trucks. Wish i could have known that my uncle was going to scrap them all before he did.

Neat little trucks.. I bought my 86 4x4 about 12 years ago for $800, I did have to put a new 5 speed in it tho.. I was wanting an 88 Toyota 4x4 but couldn’t find one that wasn’t molested and had the dog snot beat out of it.. They aren’t as solid as a Toyota, but still neat little trucks. Mine has “2.6L Hemi” badges on the fenders which I think is hilarious.
It does have some rust in the bed, rockers and front fenders. But I was given a 2wd truck and took all the sheet metal off. Other projects ahead of it and really wanting to put a little turbo diesel in it tho. However I have a spare engine so it may just stay gas.. Was built in the 80’s when speed limit was 55. It’s a little angry running 70 plus, so I run her around 55 to 60

always loved the styling of these 80's mid size pu's, i drove one with very little mileage for a radiator repair business i worked for after i graduated i drove the heck out of that thing until it hit close to 100k and they gave me a toyota and passed the truck to some hippie druggie who wrapped it around a tree i was mad as hell but thank God he didn't get too hurt.

on the 2.6L G54B engine, does the mikuni carb need to get out, before the fuel pump can be removed & replaced ?

That looked like the rear bumper that was laying in the bed that you set off to the side.
I believe that bumper was for a Dakota.
I had one that was way worse. Previous owner put a 318 ram charger engine in it. It was clapped out to hell and back. But I loved it.
Fuel pump replacement
It was definitely fuel related. I did find the culprit! It was hidden... A couple new issues have popped up since. I'm getting em worked out tho. 👍Thanks for stopping by Keith!
It vary likely needs new shifter bushings you can still get them new off ebay, but for a temporary fix i have gotten away with using some pvc pipe and a torch on my mighty max shifter, for brakes you can upgrade the fronts to montero 2 piston calipers they stop a lot nicer.
Good stuff Mitsubishikid! 👍 I ended up modifying a wiper linkage bushing for mine. Better but not right just yet. Thanks for the info on the brakes too. That may happen in the future.

Does the trans pop out of first gear? Bad synchronizer
It stays in 1st once you find it. I worked on it some. Replaced a bushing at base of shifter. Helped but could be even better. I'm working on part 2. Lol, stay tuned I reckon. Thanks for watching Thomas! 👍

Hey Jose! This truck has an aftermarket weber carburetor. Before I worked on it the idle was very rich(too much fuel). Under load I experienced a very lean condition. I took it all apart and found that the power valve had a bad diaphragm. After replacing I had good function overall. As far as the float goes, make sure the needle and seat are functioning properly first. If your float is too high it will NOT stop the flow of fuel into the bowl. Try bending it down a smidgen if you're overflowing thru the vent. Maybe!!! 🤣👍 Thanks for watching!

If u can afford a similar one to restore or a Mitsubishi max same year without 4x4 but in really good shape, what do u choose or what is the Best option to handle a long term.
Also peppermint oil actually takes care of any ant issues.
