I love her. She is so regal and intelligent.
As a white woman who grew up in Eastern Europe and learned real history, we learned about Africa having civilization language math trade libraries culture 5000 years before we came out of the caves of Europe. we literally looked like the wildlings from Game of Thrones, but American white people gets so mad when I tell them real history. So you're absolutely right about this show I watched it I loved it and I'm glad the world will finally see Africa for what it is, the most magnificent continent in the world.

“Blood and water” is a Netflix show set in South Africa….took a minute to get use to the dialect but I really enjoyed seeing African actors and opening my mind to the culture and landscape of South Africa 🇿🇦

I'm all in for the reviews! My first trip to Africa was to Ghana for the "Year of Return 2019" and this remains my FAVORITE vacation EVER! October 2021 I visited South Africa which is pretty westernized, especially Cape Town, however Johannesburg gives more culture. Next up is Nigeria 2022 and Kenya 2023! More Black Americans are relocating to Africa as many continue to earn USD because your money goes SOOO MUCH FURTHER!. I definitely felt like a baller in Africa and completed my African Ancestry test which showed my maternal DNA to be from Nigeria. Oh, and FYI...$100 USD = 1500 South African Rand. I remember paying maybe 40 SAR for a nice meal, 200-300 SAR for a night in a boutique hotel, and 1100 SAR for a flight from Jo-burg to Cape Town. The flight from Jo-burg to ATL is 15.5hrs & Dulles to Accra is 10hrs so I encourage everyone to upgrade your flight if you can!

I’m really shocked at how shocked you are over the imaginary that you’re seeing. We literally live the exact same lives. I live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I’ve been watching your channel for YEARS!!! Over a decade. I’m in my mid 30s. I graduated from a prestigious University that ranks amongst the best in the world. I have a corporate job, I live in an apartment similar to yours, except I have you beat on balcony size and I drive a car similar to yours except mine isn’t a drop top. Lol! And that’s middle class. We have similar geographic setups. We have rural areas (what you’d call the country side) and we have major cities which are business hubs and where most corporate offices are. Just like all major cities, they are cosmopolitan melting pots of people from all around the world. We travel, we vacation. Lol! But don’t let the GUCCI fool you though…let it come time for any kind of family gathering/ceremony…the designer clothes and wigs take a backseat to our headgear, traditional garb and beads. We are DEEPLY rooted in who we are.

I'm South Africa 🇿🇦 I'm just happy that the world gets to see the side we see n live not the side they put out there about us. Our flag says it all we have different kinds of people and cultures living as one.

I want to move to Africa I just need a visa.
I went on a vacation to South Africa in November 2021. It was an amazing trip (I can say so much)! I went to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durbin….it was a trip of a life time. The US Dollar goes a long way in SA…. $100 US Dollars equals to about 1,445 rans. I recommend that everyone takes a trip to South Africa. There were places in Johannesburg that had a very New York Vibe. Cape Town was like a mixture of California and Hawaii, it was absolutely breathtaking. Cape Town had some the most beautiful wineries I’ve ever seen. Durbin had a lot of African-Indian culture. Africa is definitely more than how it is portrayed in western media.

Jada and Will, The Gates, The Beckhams and the British Royals all have homes in Clifton, Cape Town. It's a very California-feeling neighbourhood.

I love the show also. I am part Ghanaian and in my experience African people will argue loudly and have heated discussions but typically aren't into solving disagreements with violence. I'm sure some do but not at the class level as what we see on the show. Now let's hope it stays that way...I can't wait for season 2!

@@ojjones7981 I’ve been to South Africa. This show is a mess and not representative of the vast majority who do live in poverty. Your average South African does not behave like those people, with the twerking and black American slang. Your intuition is right on. If Q went to South Africa tomorrow he wouldn’t see ANY of those types of people or that lifestyle.

I visited Nigeria for 3 months and chile, I didn’t even wanna come back!!! It was FABULOUS!!! I attended a church service and it was like NY Fashion week. I thought it would be hard to get adjusted, but I didn’t!! Made ATL look like a third world country!! They love ❤️them sum Gucci and Louis V. Honestly, the REAL MVP is Annie! She’s the true Queen!! I don’t know the rest of them folks!!! P.S. Rent is CHEAP!

I’ve been to Nigeria many times as well. People never believed anything I said about Nigeria. I felt so at home. There is no greater feeling than seeing so many black faces everywhere and being so hospitable. The clubs there are fabulous, restaurants Omg! The men❤️❤️ Yes, Annie is my favorite too but I also love Khanyi. Swanky is the runway all day!

It must have changed DRASTICALLY since I went and stayed there for an entire MISERABLE month. Checkpoint guards every few miles, people questioning my Christianity for no reason whatsoever, areas where I couldn't speak, because my American dialect could get me abducted, pot holes the size of whole neighborhoods, and electricity on and off all day every day. And I stayed with wealthy friends. My next trip will be to Ghana. The home of my ancestors.
That show had me feeling like I missed being able to absorb a culture that would have given me a different boldness and confidence. They possess such confidence, realness, assuredness. It confirmed why I wanted to spend my retirement surrounded by people that look like me.

Q for further context, InAfrica the concept of credit and loans doesn’t typically really exist or very little access. When people buy cars and houses it is outright! So thats probably why Nadia was excited about her GLE cuz she dropped that money all at once. No payments. So she should be proud because 90% of Americans can’t outright buy these luxurious cars or houses/condos. In Africa that house is typically bought outright. The rich has to be rich. Meanwhile we are all over here doing car payment flexing. Btw I’m west African for context.
Edit: I do want to add that we must pay attention to verbiage. I used “typically” and “probably”. These words indicate that theres exception the rule and also speculation. In Some African country’s, there’s some credit systems but its mostly not regulated, and a good portion of the people don’t have access. And if it is accessible to the countryman compared to the US/ Europe it’s not the same process. This comment is meant to help aide people who don’t know that most of Africans aren’t in huts with flies in our faces. And when you see someone with money they really have to have it due to accessibility issues that the continent of Africa is working on. Even when we are poor, majority of Africans live in houses/apartments. The conditions vary and maybe not up to par. And typically there aren’t any polices or laws to regulate it. Yes there’s villages and some people are happy living in their village but a good portion of Africa is developed more then is being portrayed or spewed by people who have never been. Please let’s educate each other and ask for clarification. Thank you.

As a South African, living in Johannesburg, I'm glad to see imagery of black excellence being portrayed to the world, especially the American audience. As a young girl, I grew up watching American commercials depicting nothing but poverty, starvation and the designated fly on the face......wondering who they was taking about..... Africa is rich in cultural, racial, linguistic, tribal diversity, whilst poverty is a real and rampant problem...we are more than our suffering.
JoBerg is beautiful. Being a Haitian woman and having the opportunity to travel to S. Africa. I was an awe seeing black people on billbords, commercials, etc in all shapes sizes complexions is a wonderful experience. You just feel like royalty. 🇿🇦 ♥️

We live pretty much like the 1st world here, which is why many of us are able to watch a lot of black Americans, we relate. As an African, currently lives in the USA, but was raised in Africa. I can definitely appreciate how the show is changing the American’s view of Africa. Lord knows I’ve tried to convince a lot of my successful Black Americans friends for a while to experience the continent to expand themselves and appreciate the value of their black skin. We are more than what the American story says we are. And that applies to both the Africans and African Americans stories. This show is definitely breaking down stereotypes. I’m glad you are enjoying the show.

I was so excited to watch this. I’ve been to Ghana and South Africa. South Africa still has a strong European influence. But Africa in general is outdoing America in sooooooo many ways. The American marketing of Africa will not expose us to that because it is a majority black continent.

See Are used to go to Africa for at least a month for my birthday every year and my parents never was able to go. So when I came back to America I started binge watching African movies TV series they didn’t get it at first. Now my parents know all the African actors and actresses by name the binge watching the movies TV shows everything lol this was a much needed especially after what we all experienced over the past few years people need to see the beauty, hustle, glamour, and unapologetically African Ness of Africa. The media only puts out so much because they don’t want to see you succeed

Watching all the way from Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm loving this. ....... So $1 is R14,49 in South African Rands. Khanyi did bleach her skin and she has always been vocal about it and doesn't hide that fact. The way she is on the show is how she is in real life. She is the most real South African celebrity you will ever meet.
I’ve just finished episode 3 and so far I LOVE it! I absolutely love Khanyi (so far)! I hate that she bleached her beautiful brown skin, and I looked at some before/after pics, but the fact she owns up to it is like hey “it is what it is.” I’m looking forward to getting my ancestry done this year so I can take a trip to where I come from 🌍 Johannesburg is absolutely beautiful!
I absolutely bumped in to this show on accident and I can say that this was the BEST ACCIDENT I could’ve EVER bumped into hunni. Let me tell you this show is it for me!!!! I binged watch all episodes in 2 days and was tweaking for more!!!! This show exudes class, sass and pure Nubian richness. It’s a must see.
As a middle class Southern African I'm happy this show is highlighting that we're not all poor and some of us are living the dream. These guys are definitely upper class as far as their pockets and Diamonds has the longest money.
But I live very well, alot of people asked why I wanted to leave the UK and go back home. I said there's no where else I can afford to buy a beemer outright and build a luxury house but back home.
But I love Q but he’s definitely the wrong person to comment on anything African cause he literally sat on Fox Soul and stated Africans align themselves with white people and hasn’t apologized for them not being able to leave Ukrainian. IJS

Not just Johannesburg. Africa will shock you. Go to Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, Gaborone, Abidjan etc.
Hi Funky, I watch tea gif every week, I'm from Botswana, we share a border with South Africa. I was super excited to see that you reviewed this show, I binged watched it last weekend. It gives a glimpse into a part of who we are, not in totality though. With Nadia being so excited about her car, things are different this side, to own a benz is a big acheivement to some extent, for a lot of us. At the same time, everyone else on the show is a lot more wealthy, hence the cars they drive and the private jets. The fact that you like the show gives me life!

One of my bestie/sisters is Ghanaian and she just came back from Ghana from visiting family and when I say the pictures and videos don't do it justice just from how she explains her time there. Pure high energy vacation spot to rival the great destination areas that are regularly pushed to us. Every time she or any of my other sisters go and comes back, it's always the best stories. One day hopefully I get to go. Thankfully all my best friends are from Ghana and surrounding countries; so at a younger age, I was able to see real photos and the reality how it really is there and have been wanting to go since. Glad this show is giving everyone a proper view, ill be tuning in. Hopefully it expands to other countries and cities within the continent.

I’m South African and I’ve watched the whole season, I’ve been watching your channel since 2018 and I can’t wait for you to review the entire season. So far we share the same sentiments.
Let me tell you, when I visited Johannesburg, they treated me like Royalty, especially once they knew my Dad is Jamaican. I was moved visiting the Apartheid Museum, Nelson and Winnie Mandela's former home and the home of Desmond Tutu's childhood home very close by. It's a beautiful country and you are in for a treat when you go. The Rand, like all money, it fluctuates, but I remember my US dollar stretched pretty good. My next stop will be Shashimani in Ethiopia...where a lot of Jamaicans migrated to in the 70s.

However, as a Nigerian, I suggest given the interest in the world’s interest in our continent, it’s in our interest to learn to separate the countries from the continent. I understand we learn and evolve everyday and given how progressive you are, but calling the whole continent when referring to a country is offensive. Now, I’m not oblivious to the fact that you actually mentioned Nigeria and Johannesburg but it’s just a thought because you slipped a few times 😂. Anyway, glad you didn’t abandon the reviews because Im currently rewatching old reviews for the third or fourth time. 😂. It’s literally m’y favorite thing to watch and listen to. So I went to London for the first time last week. And my driver was from Johannesburg Africa. He gave me all of the lowdown and kept it 100%. Western Civilization plays such a part in how they move. We spend so much time in trying to downgrade them trying to inhibit their growth because they are the richest continent in the world. My driver was so down to earth and super cool but he let me know that they live just as live as we do. They get their money and they travel around the world for fun. They travel to Atlanta often because it is exciting and life for them. In his words not mine. So thank you for sharing your video I love the show it is lit and it is fun and that's my next destination. 😉
South Africa is incredibly developed lol. Q killed me with how shocked he was, come visit! You won't really find many differences with Johannesburg with for instance a place like Atlanta. Come here, visit Sandton and Cape Town (opulent AF!)
Yup! I LOVE SA! I volunteered in cape town in a township for a month at a daycare and fell in love. My host mother was EVERYTHING and learned a lot through her. Strong woman. I’ve been all over the continent and even reached the top of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania as a mountaineer.

Young Famous & African is well done which is no surprise. It is fun to see how excited Dineva is about how fabulous Nigerians & South Africans are. I love it. I felt that way when I first started watching Nolly & Ghally wood movies. I have been down with Nollywood for many years and have watched countless movies, tv shows and web series. There is so much that I can say. The Nigerian and South African Slang is also very cool and intersting. I find myself saying things like nonsense, rubbish, yes now, adding an O to the end of my words & using the term sharp sharp. Nollywood is very addictive and I am very familiar with actress Annie Idibia. I know Annies' husband 2Baba from the 1st season of The Voice Nigeria which is also Awesome. My most favorite Annie Idibia movie starring Blossom Chukwujekwu is Mad About You. I admire Annie b/c it has been said that she is actually deaf in one ear so to be an accomplished Nollywood Actress is a very big deal. I love Nollywood so much and anybody that knows me can tell you I am a fanatic. I am excited that more African Americans are catching up and those of us that have been down for awhile know what's up. Nigerians , South Africans, Cameroonians, Ghanians etc. are Bad. They are just as Fabulous and Oppulent as any one around the globe. I usually gravitate towards things that are a well kept secret and the moment people catch on I tend to lose interest but that won't be the case with Nollywood and I dig a lot of the afro beats/fusion 2. Wizkid, Davido, Flavour, Humble Smith, Shatta Wale from Ghana is one of my favorites 2. I suggest anyone newly interested in Nollywood, Tv Series, Web Series etc. Check out Nigerian Web Series on you-tube " TMC-The Men's Club ", & " Skinny Girl In Transit " to start and you will be hooked. South African series The Kings of Jo-Burg, Shadow & The Agent are fantastic. You can catch them on Netflix. If you are into comedies check out Naija Christmas with my favorite actor Kunle Remi and the most prolific comedic actress the late Mrs. Rachel Oniga on Netflix as well.

I just got back from Ghana 2 weeks ago and the luxury I experienced was breath taking. I'm trying to figure out my move. In Ghana $1 translates to 7¢ (cedis). We were in the lap of luxury with every meal, ride, club experience and accommodations. WE ALL NEED TO GO!!!!
I was so disappointed in Khanyi's gala. It was a struggle party. As an African, our parties can be EXTRA FANCY. Where were the decorations? food? OUTFITS? She just settled for the hotel room decor and that wasn't enough. Loved her car though 👍🏾

We all remember the circus and clown act of a government America displayed itself to be at the top of last year, corruption and rich people taken from the poor is a worldwide issue America just covers its mess up.
Point being every country has issues. In America poor people get food stamps whilst living with no light electricity, rats and violence in Africa poor people live outside much like they do in Skid Row, struggle struggle as far as I’m concerned and there’s no difference. The western world has done a good job at covering up its mess but Sh@t smells no matter how much perfume you tried to cover up.

I'm from Brooklyn, NY but lived in Pretoria south Africa its about 45mins from Johannesburg! It was by far the best apartment I have ever lived in. And I live in a pretty luxurious building now.
I'm also married to Nigerian man who moves in some nice circles here in NY. I don't need all the event, but support because it's his culture and I want our boys to know all sides of who they are. I loved the 1st episode...it took me back to my days on the Continent. Please visit West and South Africa ASAP!

Loved Young, Famous and African so much I watched every show in one sitting! The main girl, (Kanye or Connie or however u say her name) gets better, but she is definitely bleaching. Go look up her old pictures. She is my fave and then Annie. Nadia, the rapper chick remind me of Meg The Stallion and Bambi mixed in one person. I can’t tell if she is a persona or if she really talks/acts the way she does. So glad you are reviewing this show! Last thing! Their fashions are everything! I follow a couple of African celebs on IG and they do live fabulous lives!

@@Flourish_today she had a reality show on BET Africa and she went to her bleaching appointment. Also if you Google her you can see her before and after pictures. She’s very open about everything she’s done.
As far as the Gucci conversation, colonization happened in many places. What I like about this show is that they incorporate traditional wear with the European luxury brands. Khanyi is very open about her skin bleaching. She has many videos explaining the process and even why her elbows and kncuckles dont match at times. Nadia gives me American vibes her accent comes and goes. I love how the women wear wigs and natural hair the next day. Swanky and Annie are my fav. Andile had me fooled. I thought more of him in the beginning episodes. I can't stand Khari. Please lump a few episoded together when reviewing. Most of us have binged and finished.

And yes Africa got range.also wanted to say the US black American culture has a lot of influence on young Africans which is where the rap and gucci etc come in but I the last few years afrobeats has definitely give young Africans our own sound and excited that this is going out to the world.
Afrobeats (especially fella kuti afrobeats) half of it comes from black American jazz & funk ! Which evolved into R&B and rap!! It’s wired how the whole world is obese with black American musical/aesthetic culture

"Q" for the past 6 months I have been watching a lot of content about the continent of Africa and the different countries and their lifestyles in each one. As a black American each time I see a video of the wealth and respect Africans have for their country I get emotional and pissed off at same time. Western media has made us so damn gullible! It's just as much our fault for believing it. I have seen stories of wealthy African women building their own luxury residential subdivisions. African men building their own high-rise condo complexes rivaling and surpassing anything you see in Buckhead. Ghana is the new hotspot that Americans are moving to and starting over. Johannesburg is just as cosmopolitan as Miami Beach. However, As Americans, we never see or hear about these places. The western media is responsible for our out-of-touch perspectives on Africa and it's people. Sure, there is poverty in Africa as it is in America, however, we need a juxtaposition of images for both sides. Watching a young Ghanaian vlogger on TH-cam by the name of "Wode Maya" and his journey out of poverty to success gave me [one] perspective of the young people there.

When I saw this review I jumped literally, you are so spot on about Kanyi and her bleaching home girl did all kinds of bleaching she could get to a appoint where she burnt her hands 😩.
This is so beautiful because it just reminds me of where we would have been if we were not stolen and brought over here to the United States. Now I understand why so many people that I know move back over there and say they just feel free. Like they are at home.

Most people in USA 🇺🇸 only recognize South Africa 🇿🇦 and some other countries like Ghana, Tanzania and Senegal. I'm from Houston Texas and I have been living in Cameroon 🇨🇲 for almost 2 years. It is not as developed as some of the other African countries...but I'm living my best life!! There are some places here that will shock you!! I have more here than I had in Houston, Texas!! Africa has a lot to offer...the Motherland is real freedom my people!! I actually like the show. I watched all the episodes in on sitting. If there is a second season, I’d like to see more in depth of what each cast member does for a living. The “beef” between Zari and Annie and Zari and the rest of the crew happened so fast and it seemed forced. I also wanna to see a different side of Annie as well. I think she has a lot more to offer than her “husband” and the issues she has with Zari. Over all it was a great show.
I watched the entire series and I even twitted Martin and Peace could gives lessons to half the american reality TV creators and producers!! Baaaabbbby this show ATE 🍴🤎 all the drama and REAL Wealth made my heart smile!! YES PLUS swanky was my vibe!!!! Let's all pray for Annie 🙏🏿 BossLady...😏 I see u Queen! Khanyi Mbau is a great actress, she does bleach her skin & has had a few surgeries which she admits to because she's a real one.
