@@ThiHaGadgets or just use a pixel 4a, speed and performance sometimes are overblown. most times a decent performance and no hangs are all thats needed
@@rashadaljunied I was thinking that too. But switching from Note 20 Ultra is a bit uncomfortable. Coz I enjoy big screen. Pixel must be really small in my hand. So maybe wait for pixel 6 with updated camera sensors but it could mean I need to fork out an arm and a leg for it. 😬😬

what happens if i subscribe 1 month only to google photos and save all of my photos there, and then unsubscribe after its been a month?
The best and safest back up is to download all your files from icloud then save it to your PC or Mac or external hard drive
Not sure if this was alr mentioned in the video and I missed it, but I just use my alternate Google accounts to back up my photos now. It doesn't cost anything extra to just make another Google account and get another 15g that way lol

I had a long think about it and refused to pay for a while then, as you discussed, thought about the pros and considered the multiple search options, the ease of finding photos I wanted from years ago, being able to access via mobile or computer and the fact the price was very cheap compared to other storage options. I did even try transferring my photos to expansion drive but was still worried I would loose my photos (including precious family memories) So in the end I now happily pay. Thanks for your post, helps me feel better about my choice xx

Hey Tasia. Great video. You are organized in your presentation and very clear! Question, do you know a way to upload from Google directly from other apps- like messenger, email, Airbnb for instance. I always need to send to the app rather than upload from the app.
Hey I like your video thank you very much so I just actually bought like the $10 a month one because I just started my TH-cam channel and I did my first vlog on the Liberty of the Seas and it took so much space for that 7 days that I didn't have enough space to save my editing let's take another picture so I have this and right now I'm working on it backing up everything I did so yes I'm for sure buying the bigger one because like you said I have another account and it's got memories from like 2016-2018 and I don't want to lose those and I love the way I can just pull it up so thanks again for your help

Nop. Its. A subscription plan. Need to pay monthly or annually. If u cancel the subscription the storage will be restricted to 15gb

Lol, I just bought the original Google Pixel XL from 2016 which has free unlimited original quality Google Photos storage. I just transfer all my photos to the Pixel which then uploads everything in original quality for free.

Hi Tasia, I have a question. After I deleted my photos from 2017 to 2019 (already backed up), my free storage has no change even I already empty the trash. Do you know what the issue here and maybe you have a solution for me?

Here's my issue... I have over 600GB of photos since I started backing up online somewhere back in 2013... (I use 2 cloud services and the other one backs up full resolution) So yes my Google Photos account might not be 600GB since I always just used the Free quality setting, but my guess is that at 1.99/month I'm only buying myself 1-3 years of service and then I'll have to choose do I continue to stay with Google, or do I upgrade my account... again?!
I bought a used pixel on eBay. I don't care about reduced quality but I have several TB I need to preserve

I backed up all of my RAW camera files to Google photos and over the years it's has reduced the exported quality to the point where my $3000 camera photos look like they were shot on a $400 android. Still looking for another alternative since I've got a 2tb SSD of newer photos I'd like to upload and can't trust anywhere in the long run.

I have a Pixel 7 pro and it shows I have 13.5gb of photos which I believe has to be incorrect since I only have about 1,500 photos. My prior phone was LG V30 and it had Google photos along with a gallery app. I do not see a gallery app on my Pixel 7 pro. Could you recommend a good, free photo app that I could use? Thank you

What will happen if you stop paying for it?
@@josiahramdeen7352 If you stop paying for it then you won't be able to upload anymore photos. Google won't delete the photos/videos you already uploaded, but you won't be able to do anything with them. No downloading, editing, sharing, etc.
That said- if you stop paying for storage and then went inactive for more than 2 years, Google may delete everything that goes over the 15GB limit. So be sure to view them frequently
@@catguy4996 what do you mean by inactive? Now I'm kinda scared, I have like 200gbs plus of shit in Google (but I can't pay for it anymore) and now I'm scared things I have saved for almost 10 years can now b deleted

TH-cam is free to upload videos unlimited storage and Shutterfly is free to upload photos unlimited why pay?
Right now, after cleaning, I got about 4GB left of storage. I will upgrade when it gets closer to 15 GB.
Mine doesn't tell me how much storage I have left in GB. Mine tells me how much storage I have left in terms of *time*
I’m with you. I plan on keeping all my photos with google. Like you I have years and years of photos in there and to transfer them to another storage place when everyone is also charging as well it’s just easier for me to keep it in there. I haven’t exceeded the limit yet but when and if I do I plan on upgrading as well. You can also pay monthly or yearly which saves you 15%. Something to consider.
I tried other photo apps but unlike Google Photos, they don't have backup. As a result, if I delete photos from my camera roll, they also get deleted from those apps which really sucks IMO
@@kenrutherford1109 True- but Google photos has the opposite problem. You can't remove a photo from the cloud without also removing it from your device. You have to use a separate device, it's kind of annoying but not the end of the world
Please, I need help! I just recently got a new update of the new Google Photos storage management policy. I’m worried I pressed free up space for every video and photos that I had taken. Will I lose all of my photos and videos by this new Google Photos policy!?
Google offered up some photos to be archived all of which I'd just as soon delete but I saw no option to say " no, delete these photos." I tried finding another way to delete them individually and thought I had, but a couple weeks later Google is suggesting the same photos for archive.
Since Google Photos compresses the photo to 16 Maga pixels (MP) and also reduces its size. If the photo is less than 16 MP (like as 12MP), will the quality of the photo still be reduced?

I don't know why that would happen if you backup the photos in their original quality. If you select "high quality", this will mean the photos have their resolution lowered a little to conserve storage.
Yeah I was disappointed with this happening as I've used Google photos since owing my first Samsung phone, so I've done a bit of a sort out but I had so many pictures of my husky dog I lost 2 years ago I didn't want to lose them plus the one I have still haveand others, I have backed up on a external drive but I don't know whether to pay the Google upgrade or not, decisions decisions... what do you think is best about paying for the Google upgrade?
I think if you care very much about making sure you keep your photos forever, it's worth paying for a storage upgrade. Keep in mind that Samsung photos, Apple photos, and Amazon photos also have started charging the same price as Google for storage so you don't have many options. And Google photos is just most convenient for Android phones.
The option of £15 ($20) for a year of 100GB should be enough for the average person. Maybe 200GB would suffice if you often take photos and videos in high quality and ultra wide-screen. You won't need 1TB unless you take photos of literally everything and anything

Panic ..my son bought a Google play card it went through but didn't reflect on his balance,said needed more information ..he doesn't know what to do .he thinks they will take his account away and he is close to a breakdown. Hi I ran across your video very informative thank you so much. However I have another tip as a TH-cam creator I put all of my videos on my TH-cam channel and I simply select private for those I don’t want to share such as family videos etc. and all my Photos I upload to Shutterfly which has unlimited storage! Live Photos are not kept live however but still it’s free unlimited storage therefore when you buy a new phone and I have the new iPhone 13 Pro you only need to buy the minimum storage because there’s so many ways of storing photos and videos you don’t have to spend hundreds more for a large storage capacity mobile device spend that money on buying the nicest phone not storage! Also storage is cheap if you want to pay you can get iCloud storage for only $.99 per month. So between Shutterfly and 15GB of free Google photo storage and TH-cam..I see no reason to pay for anything. 😎

I appreciate your videos as they are very helpful. I bought the upgrade for $1.99. I am billed twice. On looking deeper into this, I am billed for 2 different categories. One is for Digital games / Entertainment, and one is for Computer software stores/Shopping. Why is this? I only want to pay for 1 service.

Nevermind, at least you didn't *lose* those photos right? And if you upload them in storage saver, they just might fit in that free 15GB storage provided by Google. Then you still won't need to pay anything
Buy a Pixel 5 or older Pixel and back them all up in Storage Saver quality. You get unlimited storage only for these Pixel phones.
15 GB can only be filled up if you take 10,000 pictures a day and not everybody has the time all the life expectancy to take that many photos
I stopped the back up and sync and not only does it still upload screen shots it synced ALL my Google accounts I have logged in with this device
Google photos used to be my best default photos app due to a lot of features and the ability to control your memory

At least looking on the bright side, now you can keep your photos and videos in their original quality if you pay. Before with the unlimited free storage, your photos and videos were compressed. For some people that's a deal-breaker

How to redownload the backup back to my phone?
You can download the photos one by one if you go on them and select "download". If you've got thousands you need to download, you would be better off with using "Google takeout" and selecting Google photos

1. Quality of pictures is not as good as before
2. All downloaded pictures shown as of today date!
Google photos was a BAD OPTION to save the pictures on temporary basis
@@7seen396 The quality may be lower because you backed them up in storage saver/high quality instead of original quality.
And yeah, Google doesn't automatically organise your backups into the albums they were in on your device. That part is a big bummer. It's the reason why I'm thinking of switching to a USB hard drive for offline backup when my Google one expires (if you can't trust Google photos, you can't trust any cloud storage service. They're all much the same in my eyes)

I had another issue since yesterday.
On Whatsapp after installing the app it was misbehaving. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled. Then I got an error that I couldn't restore my chat !
There are free options you didn't mention. Mine all auto backup to my computer.

Do you have a Pixel? Or perhaps you haven't had many new ones to sync in the last 2 days so it hasn't made a dent in storage.

Sorry this doesn’t concern me I’ve got plenty of USB sticks and Google Photos is still storing my And 15 Gigabytes is a lot of memory so there’s not much to be concerned about and I have plenty of And also I can put them on my computer if they take up too much space as well as our notes notes hold a lot of memory as well and it doesn’t take up much memory

@Brian J Never trust cloud storage, they can full access your account if their algorithm flagged your account uploaded with against their fair usage policy. For example, naked photo lol noice.🤡
@@thinklap6367 Maybe just don't backup private photos then. That's what I do, I keep all my "personal" photos on my device and everything else is backed up. And my phone is protected with a PIN number which I highly doubt anyone could guess
