Will that work in a 2024? If not what is the PN for the 2024. Also what is the PN on the radio control buttons above that? My 2024 is missing the camera button. Thanks
So I went from a 2020 xlt to a 2022 timberline and I found this same problem very annoying. I got a used hvac module, swapped them out and didn’t have to program anything. Obviously programming it would be the correct way, but it’ll work perfectly fine without it
Sometimes filming this stuff makes it 10 times harder to do because I’m holding this phone and it makes it more difficult to see what I need to see. Usually I could do one side at a time and only film the side I did second so I could give good clear instructions on what to do but this piece had to go in as one piece.
Thank you for making this video, very helpful. I am looking to do this exact thing on my 2022 Platinum. That part now costs over $500 new, so I am guessing this is a popular mod and Ford is cashing in. When you did the Forscan programming, I am not seeing where you actually changed any parameters, it just looks like you downloaded and then re-programmed the AB data. I am trying to understand what the purpose of that was if you didn't have to change anything?
@@phillipwoodruff just to load the stock information for your VIN number onto the new unit. It comes with a generic set of parameters already on it, and it may or may not work with your particular vehicle. Better safe than sorry just load your ass built into the new module.
@@KnightsGarage Ok that makes sense. I was thinking you would have to do something in Forscan to make the temp screens come alive. That could explain why some of the folks with used modules were plug and play. Thanks again for the video.
@@KnightsGarageJust wanted to follow up and let you know that I found the correct used module on eBay after some effort and installed it today. Worked like a champ completely plug and play. Ford makes these controllers with all sorts of button configurations and then they have these with either the matte control buttons or glossy buttons like your video, which is correct for ST and Platinum. Finding a good used module with glossy buttons was a challenge, but worth it. Hopefully the used module works for a long time. 😂. Again, great video thanks!
I wish I could help you out. What I would do in your situation would be to reach out to someone with a 2020 model that only had heated seats that has the display and get their Vin number so you can look up the part number you need to order if that variation even existed. It may be that if you don’t have the cooled seats it wasn’t available with temperature display. Idk.
I would imagine so. As long as your vehicle came with dual zone, climate control from the battery, you should be able to change out the head unit and follow the directions on this video to get the temperature display on the unit itself.
I haven’t messed with this option, but I know it is buggy. I turned them both off on mine. I know the global close has to be enable through force game, but I don’t know if there’s anything else you have to enable to make it function properly.
Answering the question if the dial will work w/o program, short answer is yes. But you wont be able to turn on the a/c. You have to program it as stated in this video.
You would need to replace it with one from a like model that has the features you have so if you did not have cooled seats and heated steering wheel, you need to order the one with the display that only has heated seats. But for the exact part used in this video to work for you, you would need the 401 A package with the same features that I have.
@Knight's Garage unfortunately my ST has 400A package. ... I was desperate and in need of a car. I purchased mine from a previous order. I love it, but if I had to do it again I would have spent the extra 5k on 401A.
@Knight's Garage I LOVE IT... but I like to watch videos when I drive( I know it's totally dangerous and illegal).. so I made a cradle out of popsicle sticks for my phone
@@denismanace weird. Must’ve been the one you were using. What do you do if you go on the Facebook groups and do a search there are plenty of people that have the start start eliminator installed and working fine.
I know it does this as far as the remote start system there’s a setting for heated and ventilated seats to automatically turn on depending on ambient temperature
They have it listed in for scan for most vehicles and modules, but there’s also a website can go to to get it from Motorcraft. But in this video, I simply save the as built data that’s in my current module, and then write that as built data to the new module.
@@denismanace yeah if you put your old one back in and then use for scan to save a copy of the as built and then reinstall the new one and write that as built data to the new one, everything should work.

I like the look with the temp readout a lot better!
Easier to find at a glance than on the large infotainment screen in my opinion.

I have a XLT. i want to add heated seats. Can i add this ac control head unit and be able to utilize the buttons?
If you follow the instructions in this video yes.
11:32. I had the same problem getting the unit back in. Push down on the right end corner piece to get under the textured trim piece.

5:25 IF you click "Load Factory AB". It will pull the As-Built data from the Ford Server. Need to be connected to Wi-Fi.

That sucks. Search eBay or go to your local Ford dealership and have them search nationwide to see if anybody has one on the shelf somewhere.

When you turn D.side down P.side also gets down too.

Yeah only when the sync is turned on. You can control them separately also if you turn sync off in the A/C controls.
