Considering scouts often take a bit of damage now and again and the fact that autoexplore is dogshit, Id guess you cover a similar amount of actually effective ground even if you miss some turns, if not more so, and ontop of that you get to actually heal a bit on the turns you miss.
I love how Herson complains about the barbs, and yet continues to plough civilian units towards them. He could've easily taken care of them with a warrior and an archer, yet decided that buying three scouts was preferable.
Yeah its hilarious that THIS is the worst barbs he has ever had. As if he has never played a game where a barb camp spammed 4 galleys, or 5 horseman and just runs through the whole of your empire
@@passdoutcouchpotatosI just looked it up horses cant spawn from barbs camp so I think you forgot that bbg has different rules and barbs are set to civilised
Hey herson, I saw you were complaining about the amount of barbs in this game. Are they significantly reduced in bbg compared to the base game because in the base game there are consistently twice as many barbs than in this game for example.
Yes, BBG adds a setting to the advanced game setup where you can select "civilized" barbs. This reduces the overall number that spawns and limits their camps to just spawning melee, ranged, and recon units - no cavalry.
@niemand203 I can't verify but I've definitely seen real horsemen barbs spawning every turn until they hit I think 6 or 7 units and then it quieted down. I generally play emperor but have 4 deity wins. Pretty sure the barbs just have higher combat strength, not necessarily spawn rates
Does BBG drastically reduce the number of barbs spawned? Because the "most barbs I've ever seen" didn't seem like that many to me as a primarily single player person. In my book, barbs are pretty much never a problem if you can hold them off with just an archer and a scout. Wait till you get rushed down by 4 different camps sending archers and horsemen, and just when you think you've got a handle on things, they start pushing out man-at-arms and crossbowmen.
Yes, BBG has a setting called "civilized" for barbarians. It essentially cuts barb spawns down to 30% of the unmodded game setting. It also limits what can spawn from a camp and how often.
@@chessguy99 Barbarians is what made all my friends quit Civ 6 and continue with civ 5 on release. It doesn't make sense that the scouts which successfully returns to a barb camp allows it to spam units until it's fully saturated, and only then can you kill them one bye one. I freaking hate this mechanic when I play diety. It doesn't make any logical sense at all. And why have them spawn the strongest unit of the highest science person? Wtf, barbs with tanks hello????

Because for a full wonder it's now 5 charges instead of 7. which means since you actually get production while building you can nearly go 1 builder per wonder. And man, that's overpowered.
Also is a 5% PER charge, normal builders have 3 charges but chinese have 4 charges so It isnt a 5% buff, It IS a 20% buff per builder so It is a really OP change
Hi Herson, can you make a guide for golden ages, the points that are easy to get, and the ones you should know for last ditch effort towards golden age? Thanks :^)
I was in a novice lobby when this buff occured, Qin Shi Huang had an impending culture victory at turn 70, I was gaul, however I was not competitive for any wonders despite my high prod cause qin shi huang kept taking all of them. It was ridiculous, after that I requested qin shi huang mandate of heaven be auto banned in all future games cause of that one game, too scuffed.
What do you think if they changed the buff to only 18%, this would make it using 6 builder charges for a wonder while making it 5 when having the pantheon monument to the gods
I've been playing the beta patch and it seems like Magnus got a small buff, adding another production to trade routes doming into the city he's in. The Magnus opener still works I think but it's a little slower than before.
Herson, I have a question which is not related to this game. Which strategy is the best for Maya in current conditions? Should it be Magnus trade routes, or Moksha+Pingala and clusters of Obs and Theater Squares everywhere, or smth else? Cuz I realise that, in comparison to Vanilla, you often have no time to lay down Commercial hubs since you don’t receive a free builder anymore. And you often don’t Bild monuments in new cities which forces you to play Moksha in order to keep pace in culture. However, I saw ppl showing really crazy performance with this nation, having like 400 science and 250 culture on turn 70
I love the "officially, this is the most barbs ever (two warriors and an archer, online speed, turn 41) meanwhile I'm facing turn 35 a man-at-arms with 2 legit horsemen at turn 35 Standard speed..

The cuts are very hectic, I very much prefer to watch on TH-cam over Twitch unless it's live but I would rather watch the full VOD or an actual abridged version than a cut every couple seconds. Great game regardless, it's cool to watch you play.
Nah the real time qin shi was broken was like 4 years ago when each wonder gave 1 to all yields, you could rush strong early wonders and snowball so quick
Yes they are worse and the reason the mod tamed them down was to take some more RNG out the the game. You could be made totally irrelevant by the game placing more barb camps nearer to you than your neighbors. You build units instead of settlers and workers, and thus fall behind. You would eventually get cleaned up by one of your neighbors who weren't affected by barbs early in the game.
that's by design. Bad barb rng on normal setting can completely decide the outcome of a game for a player. If you have to defend against 2 or more vanilla barb camps you're already irrelevant. Basically if you have to make a couple more units than your opponents it's already bad for tempo and that's the best case scenario
@@matsiv5707A better way to do it, IMO, would just be through discipline. It will allow for some more interaction rather than sim citying until the modern era.

The timestamps just being filled with wonders 💀
The game tried to prevent you from winning by sending hordes of barbarians, truly the best balancing mechanism.
At some point it has to be better to autoexplore scouts when you’re missing 50% of their moves
Only if scouts auto avoided barbs and auto raced villages and city-states
@@airbound1779just make a few extra scouts to cover that then.

How can 5% on the builder ability be the difference between being busted and being balanced? I can't believe that.
