If this doesn't prove that Trent Reznor is a fucking genius and that he picks one hell of a band lineup.... then I don't know what else would. The Frail gives me the absolute chills.

Thats is definitely true. I always get pissed that people at the main show start having a jolly convo because NIN decides to play a very powerful and gratifying slower song that they can't understand.
That gets me too. I saw a T shirt on the back it said sorry are the band spoiling your conversation

I'm sorry if I made a mistake but it did sound like a subtle dive bomb to me. I apologize if I was mistaken like I said I'm a keyboard player. As far as the who did it first, I was just quoting our guitarist...
Though isn't what you describe, also how you do the dive bomb but on specific frets +tremolo?

Sorry, but stick to keyboards and don't go around giving false information on an instrument you dont play. Firstly, its not a dive bomb. Secondly, Eddie Van Halen did it a long time before Pantera.
Okay, so I’m late to the party with NIN, but a strong convert. All you folks that know more than I do about Trent: clearly there’s only four guys playing but WAY more stuff happening musically; there are pre-recorded tracks going on, no? I don’t see how all the complexity would be produced without them.... thanks (oh, and don’t flame me, k? K.)
Almost got it right. Two Apple computer rigs with protools running side by side backstage filled with all the songs parts but controlled in real time by the synths & midi controllers on stage. The two rigs stay in sync with each other the whole time in case one rig malfunctions, it’s simply muted and the other rig is unmuted & takes over from the last song stop point.

@@5kN9 old interviews from keyboard & sound on sound magazine with sound technicians. Different interviews on why trent uses protools for so long, etc. I'm a synth guy & I was always intrigued how they could sound so flawless every time with all the complex sounds & effects in their albums. Once I started digging for info, it just fell into place. It's actually not hard to program a full NIN show with that type of system. I've used it & it feels like it was tailor made for NIN music.

You don't need a pedal to get that effect. All you need to do is bend the string up, and then slowly release it back down to the fret to get the whailing type effect. You can also twist your tone knob (like robin does in the video) to get a subtle wah like effect.

This is not a pedal effect. It's a simple dive bomb. A technique introduced by Pantera. Funny you play the guitar and don't know it, I do and I'm a keyboard player hehe... just search youtube for dive bomb and you'll see a million videos on how to pull it ;) Have fun!
