An interesting train - it had plenty of cars, but no helpers and that was eastbound :) And I can't imagine how someone got that bike up on the wire - LOL! Update: No helpers because it's a Z train where they place plenty of power up front and then roll away!
Hi Mark, thanks for the great videos. Can you tell us if the radio channels are standard in north America. I would think they would need to be with the use of foreign power amongst the RR's. A slightly harder question along the same thought, are the DPU controls all the same among the RR's. We have seen more than a few UP and BNSF loco's in south Georgia on CSX and NS trains over the last few years. Be well and stay safe.
If you're talking about communications channels, the radios are all programmed with the channels they will use. My last radio (which is the same the trains use) could have up to 50 channels! As to the locomotives, yes, they are all controlled the same way. Thanks for checking it out! Along a slightly different line of communication, here is a piece I did on tunnel radios! th-cam.com/video/PRJLP-xTArg/w-d-xo.html
It's all over. In the 40 years I was there, we struck a total of one day. The government was not going to let it happen anyway, especially not with the issues with today's economy. I'm glad it was all worked out!
I knew there would be no strike. The government wouldn't have allowed it to happen anyway, especially in this economy. The trainmen were the only ones really holding out. Some of the others were just trailing along to see what they might be able to fanagle. It's pretty common at contract time. I don't know the details of what the trainmen got, but I heard it was some of what they were asking for, which is all anyone ever gets in these things. I'm glad they hammered it out.
Yes. The business for all the branches is worked at the yard (except the unit oil trains) coming and going. Here is the link to a playlist with scenes from some of the branches and switching in the yard. Thanks for checking it out! th-cam.com/play/PL6ge3RoxmyvoMtaLiLz6ysN55afQWfdc4.html
It will be interesting to see how the various Railroad Unions are going to Vote with the Latest Contract Offer. Bottom Line is NO ONE should be Married to their Job. 👎
The BLE and UTU were the only holdouts. I'm told they got some of what they wanted, which is how ALL contracts went throughout my career. SP locked us out for one day in 1994. That was the closest we ever came to a strike.
Check out the bicycle hanging on the wires at 5:47 right under the plane...
Great video Mark..
I’ve seen shoes.
That’s a drug point.
But a bicycle… must be a biker’s drug point.
Watching while waiting on jury duty
Thanks Mark🚂👍
Cool Mark! Thanks! 👏

Z or intermodal trains don’t have half the weight that bulk ones do which is why you don’t see as many engines
hope NO strike in in the future thank you ALL stay safe

@@MarkClayMcGowan YES thank you
Was that the grim reaper next the signal?
😂
Hey Mark...What do you think about the now averted railroad strike and settlement?

Would this happen to be the ZLAMN or ZLAMQ !?
Would what happen?
Mark, are the crossover turnouts all standard types? I am thinking #20......
Are any trains made up or broken down in Bakersfield
