The problem with these types of characters is that it makes no sense even for such a fictional world. How couldnt you guess that your at least above average in power? When I notice that i immediately drop the story im reading. I like characters that acknowledge their strenght, that have a more down to earth view on things. I understand if a character is perhaps a coward with a lot of strenght too scared to meet someone of equal power to act like that

A 20 foot bipedal monster that swings an axe and killed everyone in front of him and he thinks its just a big cow? They said you just need 2 brain cells to join F rank, but i don't know if he meets that criteria.
It is technically wrong that he only learned one skill. He learns a single skill from each of the six training academies and takes them well beyond their limits.
Hiding power is more acceptable than being clueless about their own skill value. At that point mc is just a hard r. stuck in a low level universe no choice but to keep him. Since atleast hes easily to manipulate with hes morals and humbleness with rewards like a strong non complaining slave.
So we just gonna ignore the fact that the sword the King gave the protagonist is legitimately just the FUGS? Seems the creator of this anime/manga is a Dark Souls fan. For those who haven't played the Dark Souls games, specifically 2 and 3, the FUGS, or Fume Ultra Greatsword is a massive two-handed sword that looks like a gigantic, crudely forged hunk of iron. Also kinda shares similarities with Demon's Souls' Keel Bone Smasher.
