This is a very beautiful show in many ways. No violence, no bad language, no tech, no smoking, no sex. This story it's as comforting as the stunning Japanese food seen in the show. It's a reminder how nice the world can be when we all care and lookout for each other. Watching this show makes you want to go to Japan to see all this for real. One of the best Netflix shows I have watched in a long time.
I loved this series!! The characters were so genuine, and their relationship seemed very believable and convincing as though they really were all 'friends'. Kiyo was so cute and charming, and it was nice to see that she 'found her place' in life, and Sumire achieved the status of Maiko. I've already watched it through twice and will probably watch it again sometime later. I recommend this series to anyone who might be interested in Japanese culture, but also wants to watch a story that is upbeat and positive.

I was trying to describe it to a friend-- it is about the willow world-- but that isn't it's essence, it's about the role of food but that isn't its essence...its about friend ship at a profound level, but that is not all, it is about finding one's place in the world...but that is just a part...there is a line by Kiyo that was just perfect-- when she starts working with an ingredient each day she says はしまして. The production values were amazing and beautiful. On second thought: I am wrong-- for what it is, it is perfect. to the team that created this masterpiece 毎度おおきに
Those high-pitched voice actresses are normally heard in anime shows. Japanese tv-shows and movies have much more normal voices which I personally prefer.

なべこだんご、ひっつみ…きよちゃんのお婆ちゃんの住んでいる地方の出身の私ですが、懐かしくて懐かしくて、パンの耳のおやつも見ているだけで涙が出ました。演者の方々の魅力も勿論ですが、消えものである食材やお料理も見ているだけで素晴らしかったし、フードコーディネーターの飯島奈美さんの素晴らしさも伝わってくる作品です。

The ladies presenting themselves (also, the ladies in the kimonos) sound a lot more pleasant than high-pitched voice actresses
Those high-pitched voice actresses are normally heard in anime shows. Japanese tv-shows and movies have much more normal voices which I personally prefer.
