Great video, thanks Derek. I only came to the Q400 quite late on but it's a very nice piece of work and as you say, the FMS is a unique beast compared to the more mainstream Boeing/Airbus fare.
Hi MrCobolman, reporting in from Australia as a new subscriber to your channel. Thanks very much for your insightful videos and thanks to flightsim481 for making me aware of this channel.
Maybe you or any of your viewers knows this?: On the CDU, Tune page for radio frequencies, there is an ACT, RCL and a list from 1-8 with stored frequencies. Do you know how to use those stored frequencies? I can't find it in the manuals. Thanks!
Thank you for the insight into the Majestic "Mac do". LSK then enter, with no scratch pad first, interesting! Is this in P3d v3? I ask because I was considering the P3d version. How does the Mac Do, cope with waypoint edits? Place, distance bearing. Place, bearing and direct to? Are you considering a review of the "pro"? I would look forward to that. Cheers!
+David Herky Hi David This was done with P3D V2.5 - You may have seen my comments on P3D (and upgrade pricing) on my 2000 video. I haven't gone in to the FMS in the Q400 in depth. It's sufficiently different from the Airbus and Boeing MCDU / FMS / WhaddaeverInitialsYouWant to be worth some investigation in its own right. I run a joint channel with flightsim481 called GearDownThreeGreens. If I were to review the Q400 Pro, I'd probably do it with Rich (flightsim481) and post it there. Thanks for the support David. Much appreciated.
+MrCobolman and thank you for mentioning my channel:-) the only thing that's stopping me rushing to buy the pro, is that its only got a "beta" installer for p3dv3?? For £70 I want an installer that's reliable! But I am looking for a good Turboprop, since PMDG havn't upgraded the j41 to p3d.
Hi David Luckily, I only had to pay the £20 upgrade from the Pilot Edition (Lockheed Martin please take note on how to offer upgrade pricing). Unless you need the Pro extras, there's always the Pilot edition available at a lesser price? I don't think I'm alone in saying that the Majestic Dash8 Q400 is an awesome sim. It's one of four aircraft I currently own that I would not want to do without: 1. PMDG 737 2. Aerosoft Airbus A318/319/320/321 3. Majestic Dash8 Q400 4. A2A Cherokee
+David Herky Lol, if only PMDG would upgrade the JS41 to P3D v3, that would really make my flightsim life complete! Still an awesome add on because it needs to be 'flown'. An all time fave of mine :-)
+MrCobolman The Majestic 400 forum is suggestive of bugs in the p3dv3 version of the 400 pro. Since its a first purchase, I shall not be buying a beta. I agree with your choices. NGX, a true simulation! Aerosoft Airbuses, well I have all the FCOM and I am hard pressed to find much fault. For my number 3, I would cite the A2A GA models, all of them! For my number 4, the Real Air Turbine Duke. Both the latter with the superb Flight 1 GTN 750, which amazing piece of kit. X Plane fails to provide a decent MacDo. The FJS 732 is a true big old iron sim, the 727 needs patching, since the FD panel is broken. But at least we have choices! Cheers.
Majestic indeed paid the for the copyright license, but only to let you hear it. When you upload a video to youtube, you're technically redistributing the music and that falls outside the license scope..
am I the only one that was extremely distracted by the master warning flashing for like 3 minutes!!?? I kept trying to click it with my mouse lol. Great video though...
7 minutes into the video you finally get to programming the fms!
Great video! I look forward to watching the entire series.

+flightsim481 Thanks, Rich. Yes, that FMS is quite interesting in a number of ways :)

+elmar001 Welcome! Thanks for your kind words. And thanks to flightsim481 for the mention. Cheers! :)
Where do you find, or how do you calculate, the vspeeds????
The intro music made me happy :D
What is it?

Just wondered you mentioned the other TH-cam channel you and FlightSim481 were sharing. I some Google work and did not come up with geardownthreegreen
+FlightPass Hi - thanks for asking. Here's the link : th-cam.com/channels/yr_XUFkQ7FFz9e5uGmc5MQ.html
+MrCobolman Thanks man

The music is way over 70 years old so it is in the public domain, no need to get a license for them.

master caution. master warning is red!
