An 124 and An 255 would have never been built under Ukrainian hands and by the way the engines they use are Russian. Antonov is just based in Ukraine but We all know where most of the money, most of the scientists and most of the engineers used to come from which is Russia. The largest fleet of An124 is in hands of the Russian air force
The same goes for the shipyards in Mykolaiv, they built the Admiral Kuznetsov and many other under Soviet hands and now they are getting rusty.

This Russian made aircraft (Antonov) is very reliable and this aircraft is still being used by all over the world including some NATO Countries

Some An-148/158 are Ukraine built and some ones are Russia built. There are two manufacturing facilities.
Ukrainian, Cubana and North Korean An-148/158 are Ukraine built.
Russia build An-148 for Russian airlines and military services.

I lived many years ago for few years in Pyongyang due to work, you have to understand that at that time only Air Koryo flew twice a week to Beijing only. In summer season, some Chinese airline was also allowed to flew the same route. The airplanes are outdated but they have professional North Korean cabin crew onboard, serving proper meal although flight was just below 2 hours and professional ticketing and boarding passes. The open cabins for luggage I didnt like, because in turbulence luggage used to fall down. The amazing fact is that they took always off on time, no matter the weather conditions. I experienced one flight at 09.00 am in morning and run way was completely covered in snow (outside minus 35) but still we were in the air by 09.00 am because out of nowhere thousand of workers appeared and cleared the snow and ice manually. In my time the airport in Pyongyang was the old one, which was good and efficient. I believe in Pyongyang they have now a airport which is according to international standards and which Is luxurious. Because you can only fly their national airline in North Korea (Communist system) and they fly not much in a week time, their flights are always full. Mainly UN expats, Diplomats, North Korean Top party workers and few specially selected tourist are their passengers.

The Soviet navy used the IL-18 as reconnaisance and submarine hunting planes if I recall correctly. But not as bombers. But that is not too far fetched, the soviets did modify bombers into civilian planes.

Funny thing is, Air Koyro is the safest airline on earth (by fatalities onboard). Before you say they hide any crashes, China always watches theif flights, they are the only country (+ a few) to allow Air Koyro traffic, and china wouldnt hide a plane crash from anyone

Calum Champion It's easy to have the lowest amount of anything when you have such a small and unreliable sample. 6 flights (at most) a day compared to any worldwide airline with hundreds of planes in the air at any given time, 24/7. Of course an airline with hundreds of flights 24/7 will have the risk of more fatalities.
Air Koryo is an outlier and while it may have the lowest fatalities, it is an unreliable and skewed statistic. If Air Koryo was a big airline and had hundreds of flights it would have similar numbers to everyone else.
