- Welcome back! In today’s video we’ll show you how to replace the reciprocator on your Meistergram Embroidery Machine GEM XL-1500. Embroidery machines drive the needle up and down via the needle bar. The machine transmits drive to the needle bar via a component called the reciprocator. The reciprocator is plastic and is designed to break away so that further damage is minimized to the embroidery machine main drive components.

I like also to know the causes why reciprocator broke or worn out?
Hi Archie, The reciprocator is designed to break if you strike an object such as the side of the hoop. This helps in a major way since it will not allow for other internal parts to suffer damage from the impact. As for the wear, if the machine is properly maintained the reciprocator will last you for many years, eventually it is known for a reciprocator to wear from long term use since it is made of plastic, this is common in most brands and models.
