I was there in Bay Ridge many times with my grandparents who lived two blocks down the street. That was back in the 1960's-70's before the iron fencing was installed by the massive steps outside. Back then the Mass was in Latin in the upper Church. A spectacular place.
My grandmother, parents as well as my self grew up on 63rd btw 4th and 5th and 58th btw 6th and 7th. So I'd say about 120 years... And it's always been called "Bay Ridge". Sunset Park was very much north of OLPH.
I lived in the St. Anslum's parish , St. Patrick's and OLA growing up in the sixties, seventies and eighties , and I remember my father and mother taking me down to OLPH many a Sunday for mass in the upper church , the thing about that was the mass was in Spanish and we didn't speak Spanish , but my mother would say it didn't matter because she knew just where the priest was up to ,,,,, and in the summer months there wasn't any air conditioning and I remember the industrial size fans blowing as well as the Latino ladies making hand fans of the church bulletin . my mother , bless her soul would take me on the bus ride during the week days to mass in the lower chapel , I believe they had groups that met for the rosery and novena's . lots of memories of those days at OLPH .
🇪🇸 Bello edificio la iglesia de Ntra. Sra. Del Perpetuo Socorro de Brooklin, precioso interior convinacion de los estilos eclecticos del romanticismo neo-romanico y neo-bizantino que en USA tiene tantos y bellos edificios saludos desde España ( SPAIN ).
