One of my nun teachers (circa 1957) once told our class that it was the prayers of the many monks/nuns that says the Hand of GOD from messing up this place (the world) and can believe it.
Monastic life is very beautiful. For a brief time I considered becoming a Franciscan monk and stayed at Marytown in Illinois outside of Chicago. I left and got married my best friend at the time stayed on and was ordained a priest. This was in the late 1960's. Seven years ago we served together in Mexico; he a priest me a lay missionary. We're still friends today and my wife and I have been married for nearly 30 years! Together we have 15 kids including grandkids. Life has been good praise GOD; and it ain't over yet!

My parish here in Wales GB is served by Benedictine moks from Hereford, they are all very kind and to go listen to singing at the Abbey is a beautiful experience, thank God for them all, we must pray constantly the world's in peril Gods blessing to everyone, Christine.
I love watching this video over and over again, it is so inpiring. I pray that God will give you good health and the seed of love for vocation especially in the consecrated life will grow a hundred folds. The world needs you today... God bless
Most important for me is watching their faces, they are in good mood, their faces show happyness and peace, for sure the faith is the most important living in a monastery, but this seems a very good community to praise our Lord, it may go on for centuries.
Such a beautiful place, the monks here are awesome. A friend and I spend Thanksgiving here and it was one of my favorite places I’ve ever been to. God bless this place and the monks who live here ✝️
The more simplistic a monastery' chapel is, for me, the more beautiful. Christ did not live in wealth and fanciful things, but in the ways of the poor and the simplistic. Beautiful residence, monks... God bless you all. Jesus, have mercy on us poor sinners, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen!
Iconoclasts can be ominous. I prefer the full spectrum from Chartres Cathedral to the Pieta to Palestrina. Franciscans gladly make room for Benedictines and Jesuits, etc. Each charism has its gifts to offer the Body.
I think we can have legitimate tastes on simplicity and ostentation. But remember that Christ humbled Himself and was then exalted. We as His followers and worshippers must also exalt Him. This through our deeds and faith most importantly and also through our churches and liturgy. If simplicity is beautiful in your eyes then go. What I disagree with is that poor looking churches are better because Christ was poor. Let us not impoverish the God of heaven and earth in our churches when our States have beautiful government buildings.
I have been there. I have stayed there as a guests for a long weekend. I miss it! ! ! ! It has changed a lot but I certainly would go back and by the Grace of God, I will go back for a visit. Wonderful experience. Never forget it.
Relationship with God is the best thing in the world to have. Worshipping God is the key to finding God and connecting with him. It must come from the heart and not religion.
I'm a Buddhist, but something has always attracted me to monasticism, at least for the past decade or so. Though I worry my primary motivation would be at least partially selfish in a desire to engage in serious practice and escape the insanity of the outside world.
I feel the same but I'm an introvert and I feel like I am drawn to it due to selfish reasons and to escape the world instead of honest and pure sincerity in it

Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works. Romans 3:24-26 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. It is evident by these verses that salvation is by faith alone and not works.
