Meat grinding with drill

- Wife asked for a new meat grinder with electric motor. I saved some money and made one from hand-powered grinder and drill. The best part is that I was allowed to buy a new drill and leave the old one for meat grinding.

Great idea, the only thing is that its not designed to turn that fast so you will end up with metal shavings in your mince eventually :)

Smart. much safer and better than using a motor with pulleys. much cheaper. since both hands are rqd to operate the drill no chance of getting fingers ground. I surrendered and found a new used Weston #32 for $550. This morning ground 58 lbs chicken quarters, bones and all, for the 40 cats who come at dinner for food. In 9 days will have to grind another 50 lbs.
The bowl looked empty, then I see him pull out another piece of meat. ENDLESS BOWL FTW!

I got a nice electric grinder/stuffer from Cabellas for Christmas one year. Got a nice smoker too. There's no comparing old world recipes to walmart crap.
I've got one of these old fashioned hand-cranked mincers, and I bought a cheap electric mincer. But I bet this actually works better than my electric mincer. Might give it a try.

I got news. All grinders, slicers, table and band saws will take a finger and wait patiently for another one. The complacent better just stick to a cubicle.

If you mounted it all to a very heavy table, used a slower variable speed drill, and used both hands to keep a steady feed of a little crushed ice mixed with the meat to keep everything ice cold, you'd have something here. Seriously. I've made hundreds of pounds of sausage using a Hobart while working for an old school Italian family deli.

You are tearing up the grinder by going so fast, and you spent as much energy and time as you would have if you turned it by hand using the hand crank
how about adding a tube where you feed the meat and you can just drill for a much longer time. "the shakings will make the meat go down"

Its a great idea... love the concept... however...🤔🤔🤔... I wonder how much cross contamination is all over the meat.... touching the dirty filthy drill... then the meat... back to drill ... then adding more meat...
Open hand... no gloves... Salmonella Botulism Eccolli ....lord knows what else is on that drill... oil dirt grease metal and wood shavings at the very least

LOL you really think that the friction of that loosely built, mass produced, but dependable machine and the cold meat is going to "slightly cook" the meat? You sir, are the fail. The device isnt precision machined to fit, and there is very little contact points in a crank meat grinder to cause enough "heat" to cook meat.
My dad does that with a salt and pepper shaker
