I can't imagine anyone not appreciating this thing. It's well built, I think it's the last meat grinder I'll ever need to buy. I just don't need anything else and it's built to last. Welcome here Daniel!
I have the same Grinder, and LOVE IT! You covered all aspects, of it, very well. Very important, to put the parts, in the Freezer, and keep the meat, semi frozen. I have the Jerky Slicer attachment, for mine, and it spits out Jerky Meat, as fast as the grinder grinds meat. Well Done on the Video........Mark
I'm glad I did it justice. Mine is still going strong as well. I'll have to take a look at the jerky attachment, I've tried to make jerky at home a few times without any success.
Very timely! I'm ready to retire my KitchenAid from grinding duties and the first "comparison" video I watched, the two gals were grinding up chicken BONES! This thing doesn't slow and seemed very quiet. Thank you, and you just gave Cabela's a sale.
I have the same one 3/4 hp #12. We have had already for at lest 10 years. We do a beef every year, some we go deer hunting, and make sausage. That grinder is for all we need. Great machine.
10 years is pretty impressive, h I hope I'll get the same amount of use out of mine. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the grinder.
only thing with these grinders is the mince grind, the small one is very hard to clean as bits of meat got stuck in the holes I had to use a kebab stick to get it out
They're definitely very good grinders I own a Lem simply because replacements are much easier to find and are sold by many different outlets if you own a Cabelas you have no choice but to buy replacement parts from Cabelas you no other options
That's very good to know. I am hopeful because of build quality this thing will go for a while. It's solid with quality moving parts, hopefully that's the case. I'll post back if I run into any issues.
Not exactly true. Blue Sky Innovation Group are the ones who make these grinders and they also make for Weston too. Before It became the Carnivore, Weston Butcher Series and Cabela's grinder's were exactly alike. Now the major difference between the two is the sheet metal covering the motor. Other than that they are very much alike still and parts should still be interchangeable. Weston has made a few upgrades to the line they sell but are virtually identical still to the grinders that Cabela's sold 20 years ago. The biggest changes have been to their 1 hp and bigger grinders.
This grinder is way overpowered, I can't see you having any trouble. Best tip I can give you, make sure the meat is COLD. Put it in the freezer for an hour before you grind along with the parts and it makes such quick work of anything.
You would likely be totally okay with a 1/2 hp, but for the extra 50 bucks you get a 3/4 hp, that's why I ended up with this model. I would stay with the carnivore or commercial series grinders. I took the cutting attachments apart at the store, the drive on everything else just looked like it wouldn't stand the test of time. I know this is overkill, but I wanted quality that would last.
I was told by the salesman when I bought it that there is no need to sharpen them as long as you lubricate parts before each use and assemble them correctly. Not sure if that's accurate, I know mine is still cutting like the day I bought it.
I am buying a gunder in the next few days, I have probably 700 pounds of beef to grind. I want a machine to last for 50 years and do 1000 pounds of meet a year. THIS that machine? Or buy a bigger one????
I'm pretty sure this unit would do it, but I would go bigger personally. Keep the gearbox and the metal collar cold to get the most out of it. Let us know what you decide on. LEM is a brand recommended by a butcher friend of 30 plus years if you can't find the size you want with the cabelas model.
Nice! We were looking for one, our last one failed... it was old and manual. Very impressive. I'd be grinding up steaks with some strips of bacon for burgers :-) SMASH! No complaints this time, maybe I'll flame you mercilessly in the comments next time.
I was debating on showing my burger recipe. Might be a spring thing. Lol, for the record any time she calls me an idiot, it's well deserved and in good fun.
Sorry. It isn't available on Amazon. The one linked is comparable and local meat guy of many years stands behind lem. It is listed so anyone that doesn't have a cabelas close by can get a quality unit. Might need to add that in the description.
The Cabelas 3/4HP grinder is prone to motor failure, and the warranty is horrible. (I know this FIRST HAND) _Spend another 'C' note and get yourself a LEM GRINDER!_
Have LEM #12. 3/4 HP 15 minutes out of the Box started getting hot, Very hot , pulled the Grinder head off and ran just the motor and got so hot she burnt up
I have this grinder and its a beast and I love it I can grind meat twice in the time it took in my last grinder and its so quiet
I can't imagine anyone not appreciating this thing. It's well built, I think it's the last meat grinder I'll ever need to buy. I just don't need anything else and it's built to last. Welcome here Daniel!
Right on! Good to know and thanks for the great video!

YOUR experience is probably the reason I am buying a #12. I am butchering a HUGE STEER this week. And need a REAL grinder.
Not disappointed with mine yet... at all.
only thing with these grinders is the mince grind, the small one is very hard to clean as bits of meat got stuck in the holes I had to use a kebab stick to get it out
Run some ice through when you're done, pushing everything out.
@@HouseDadLife nice I didn't think of that thanks
Glad you like it.. Almost bought the same unit today but 150 dollars for a 3 year warranty was enough to change my mind. Take care.
I bought mine without adding any warranty, 150 is definitely too much for a 3 year.
LEM 5 year warranty no extra cost
Nice info. I have been looking at one. Now I think I will make a trip to Cabela’s and get one.
Just used it again the other day, still working like a champion. Enjoy yours.
Cool video man, great description very easy to watch👍😎
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Great info, thanks… not sure about the backwards footage?? [on many levels, lol]
Lol, I forgot I did that until you reminded me. And you're welcome.
One the best I've ever bought too my kids love using it
Awesome glad you like it!
Yes its an awesome machine best money 💰 spent
Right on brother looks like a game changer
It is, and it's still going years later!
Nice video, also like your discus tank. Just bought this grinder but haven't used it yet
Thanks for leaving a comment, I'm glad you enjoyed.

Glad you enjoyed, you're welcome!
Great video and good tips.. do you know how does this grinder work with chicken or turkey with bone in? Have u tried it..
Glad you enjoyed the video. I haven't tried bone in but can't imagine it would be any trouble as I've done frozen meat and had no issues.
@@HouseDadLife thanks to your video, I just bought myself one ..
5:29 Where your hands slippery?
Hi there. im thinking about buying this for big game. How would it be grinding tougher shank meat with silver skin?
This grinder is way overpowered, I can't see you having any trouble. Best tip I can give you, make sure the meat is COLD. Put it in the freezer for an hour before you grind along with the parts and it makes such quick work of anything.
@@HouseDadLife Great tip thanks! Thanks for the informative video!
@@HouseDadLife It worked perfectly on tougher game with silver skin. Cold meat (almost frozen) really helped! Thanks
Glad I could help, thanks for taking the time to let me know!
I’m looking at getting one of these. It’s been 2 years since you put up this review. Are you still happy with this grinder? Thanks.
I'm still using it regularly and have had no issues, love it.
@@HouseDadLife thank you
Aw man thanks for the video, im buying one, just tired of paying so much for all thisvmeat and its as hard as tire.
Enjoy, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!
I want to start making brisket burgers at home. trying to decide on what hp i need. What do you recommend?
You would likely be totally okay with a 1/2 hp, but for the extra 50 bucks you get a 3/4 hp, that's why I ended up with this model. I would stay with the carnivore or commercial series grinders. I took the cutting attachments apart at the store, the drive on everything else just looked like it wouldn't stand the test of time. I know this is overkill, but I wanted quality that would last.
Do the cabela's units not have a poly ring on the back of the auger? Like a spacer ?
I think the piece you are asking about is on the housing body.
Anyone who has this- can you sharpen the plates and knife? Are their sharpening stones that fit this?
I was told by the salesman when I bought it that there is no need to sharpen them as long as you lubricate parts before each use and assemble them correctly. Not sure if that's accurate, I know mine is still cutting like the day I bought it.
House Dad Life what do you lubricate with?
There is a food safe silicone lubricant in the same section of the grinders at the store. Cabellas brand.
@@HouseDadLife Thanks for sharing that with me- good to know!

So how much was the cost ?
Think I paid around 500CAD
just ordered one! i have heterochromia as well :) makes us unique
I didn't realize it had a name. Other than rainbow eyes on high school. Awesome.

Link goes to different grinder. What the hell

Have LEM #12. 3/4 HP
15 minutes out of the Box started getting hot, Very hot , pulled the Grinder head off and ran just the motor and got so hot she burnt up
Definitely got a dud unit by the sounds of it. Sorry to hear.
What about chicken bones?
I can't say I've tried grinding them. Not sure what's required there.
It will do chicken bones at 3/4 hp
Thanks for replying, I had never even heard of this. Are you using the chicken bones to make dog food?
I wish you had not run your video's backwards on grinding the meat.
At times I'm just a big child.
0:19 LOL
Who else loves this guy? #Me
wow this is very quiet.
It is much quieter than I initially expected.
