I saw some Devils TH-camr cry aboutRasmussen's hit on Hughes at the end! WTF. He just took a hit while scoring--and came pretty close to hurting his knee. I have no idea how anybody can not see that was all on Hughes trying to smash a guy while he's potting an empty netter. So happy to see him wind up on his ass, and I wish Ras had actually thrown a reverse hit on him too!
For as bad as the PK was all game, what a massive kill at the end on one of the worst penalties I’ve ever seen called, especially at such a crucial point in the game. Huge win. Love the emotion. LGRW
@@HarrisMcGovern Let me go check Edit: I stand corrected, almost... Raymond had 13 to Larkins 14. So I'll correct myself here and say he has to get off the "Snide."
3 straight wins with Kasper in the line up. Just sayin…. Also glad you talked about how brutal the PK/PP was. No clue why Seider isn’t quarterbacking PP1.
@@a.N..... I bet anything Lalonde is fired before Christmas unless he does a 180. His def lines are horrible. I check every game to see if he does it right. And every game I’m disappointed. His coaching style doesn’t mesh at all with the team makeup. I say before Christmas because I bet Quenneville is taken by a team before then. I can’t say it will be Detroit but I bet a team grabs him. His off ice problems are not as important as his coaching history. Great win percentage and Stanley cups. He has been available since July first. The first team to fire their coach will probably sign him. With lalondes style Detroit has been outshot 153-77 ish in their 4 wins. I know there are a lot of haters out there but Detroit has a pretty strong top 6. Way stronger than that shot performance would say.
I wonder how much the illness in the locker room has affected their energy levels. Hopefully the emotions at the end of this game sparks us for this weekend.
Kane is the most talented player on the team by a lot. But his legs are gone and he is unwilling/unable to win the puck. But this game when he was finally put in the correct position/role on the power play - the point, handling the puck like a point guard and hogging it rather than trying to make everyone feel special by handling the puck - demonstrated what he is and can do. And what the team needs to do to unlock him at even strength. They need to do everything they can to put him in a position like the one he was in tonight on those last 2 power plays - handling the puck in the o-zone w time and space and everyone set up. Or just handling it in the o-zone period w other guys in threat positions. Kane should be w Larkin. He has now assisted on all 3 of Larkin's non empty net goals. Kane at 5v5 wo Larkin is getting destroyed. He's turned into a giant liability who loses the play constantly and whose lines get worked over all night. And there is also the opportunity cost, which is even worse. You are not getting what offense you could be getting from him at even strength.
@@woady7073 It's not even that - he has a good stick, even a great one when interested, but he's just always a step or a step and a half slow to the puck. This is a small amount but makes a huge difference in puck retrievals.
Lalonde when asked about it today literally laughed and said no. So there's your answer. Wouldn't want to repeat a wildly successful strategy or anything.
Do we leave Husso in GR all season to keep Kaspar up? Current 2 GKs are doing well, so I see no need to change them. Would just need to ensure Cossa gets 60% of the games in GR to keep his progress going ready for next season. Loved Ras at the end. Happy with a bit of aggression. But can we stop taking stupid minor penalties.
Husso doesn’t effect kasper. Motte will. Lalonde will send kasper down when motte is back. Really stupid move but considering Lalonde is playing Holl instead of johannson shows that he prefers vets.
what were the scoring chances? Not saying they have to stop being outshot, but if the quality of the shots they give up isn't good, that could also indicate they're forcing opponents to take weak shots.
@@BurtTurbo The scoring chances were about as awful as the SOG. It's harder to check them now.. but I can tell you that when I looked after each game.. it was bad.
If you look at the stats both teams were close to being equal in face offs, penalty minutes, block shots, giveaways, takeaways, Wings 50% and NJ 60% on power plays, NJ out hit them the Wings. 4O shots for NJ and 20 shots for Detroit. How many shots did NJ get on the powerplays as the result of BAD ref calls. NJ failed to keep Detroit from getting 20 shots on the net which means Detroit will score 3-4 goals unless the opponents goalie is hot. Fisher type goals are needed just go to the net if Joe V is fore-checking. The puck seems to bounce around at times and end up on NJ sticks. NJ now has more loses then Detroit. NJ high lite reel goals right lol! They need to carry the puck out more then chipping out.
The problem with this system is they expect the d to carry the puck up the ice if there is an open lane for them, unfortunately only seider and edvinson can do this effectively, holl has looked better but once the puck is below the circles even he mostly looks lost on what to do and if they dump the puck the wings forwards are too small to get the puck out of corners. The only way this sytem works is with younger players like asp and johansen, honestly i think it's about time to bring asp over to play for the griffins, he is scoring a point per game and there is no competition left for him in europe, give him a chance, if he shines in gr i dont give a crap about preserving entry level contracts, bring him up because 3/4 of your d are the problem, either that or you go get some bigger forwards to mix in with smaller guys to win bowrd battles but at this point itd be not feasible to fix this small forward heavy roster, and you can ride this out another year but their lack of puck moving defenseman is going to cost them a playoff spot.
Compher,Seider, kasper, kane, Larkin, Raymond, tarenseko, Good back end to ....🤔 Should have way more wins but husso was ok Brian & Scott... thoughts on that?
The system from Blashill and now LaLonde is horrendous. Since both coaches are trying to implement the same system, I have to believe this is what Yzerman wants. Are the Griffens not playing the same way?
These wins are nice. But let’s get real here on defensive play. It’s just simply not playoff calibre and won’t be come Feb and March. They need to dial it in as last year they out scored these issues and the optics were the wings took a step ahead, when they really didn’t. If they are serious about being a playoff team…. They need an overhaul either on the system or personnel on the back end (aside from Seider and Edvinsson)
Wasn't the greatest game, but the Wings are showing signs of "slowly" putting things together. Now that I've seen them together they shouldn't break up Seider - Edvinsson. Yzerman still needs to address the D if possible at the deadline though if we are in or near playoff position.
Please no... Dude is fast and is always in the right place but never does anything when he gets there. I'd rather bring up some guys to replace him at this point and trade him for a pick.
the fact we’ve won the last 3 games is straight comedy. no forecheck, d-zone coverage still looks weak, special teams are indeed playing special, not in a good way. this just straight up is not sustainable, we’ve looked bad all 7 games we’ve played
Man... that game was ugly. We won, and that's the most important part, and while I don't particularly care about crap like "the deserve-to-win-o-meter", we really didn't deserve to win this one. But I'm not complaining! So long as we keep winning, I don't care how it looks. But this is unsustainable.
