A setting idea. A forest arena with equally distanced trees. He would go into the background and chop down the trees. He will be tired and be vulnerable to attacks

Amazing video! Also there is another thing I notice from Shovel knight characters is that most of them have a cartoonish body proportion, like, just look at Mole Knight, Tinker Knight and Treasure Knight. I like your design nonetheless

That's very cool. I notice that you're zooming in and out to see the whole character. Don't forget there's a preview window you can use that solves this problem too.
You know the bosses of shovel knight (or at least the ones you referred to) are the bad guys right? Why would a protector of the forest be part of a villainous group?
